    OMG dude I just got a cnc machine and I have spent 2 days researching and trying software but this is exactly what i was looking for. Perfect! Thank you so much.

    This was super-helpful. I just bought a mini CNC and was wondering what software would work best. The 2.5D information was brand new to me, so I'm really grateful for this knowledge.

    So, I built my own CNC. I did a pen test in a little are and it worked. My question is I am not sure how to setup the cnc carving area to make sure it does not over travel or how do I Specify z axis to only go down or tell the machine to start here? Just general start up questions.
    Can you do a video if not can you point me to a correct location?

    I subscribed. This is really great. I doubt I would ever need full 3D if 2 1/2D can do about the same thing but slower I guess. I need to research the difference between the two more, but this software looks like exactly what I need in that it is simple and free and straight forward too. Thank you so much.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fr. Thomas Bailey, OSB Well, to be fair.. it has handled fine for most of the things I've tried to do with it. Especially when doing engraving work with a v-bit. It's seems perfectly fine for that application. When cutting out pieces from 1/4-1/2 stock, it definitely shows its limits. I've had several situations where it just couldn't keep up, which forces me to abandon the cut and try again at a much slower speed. That's not to say that it CAN'T do them, but I had to counteract it's lack of power with lack of speed.
      All of that to say, I think it's a fine tool to get started with and the more you use the machine you'll start to get a better idea of HOW you want to use it. This will probably tell you whether upgrading the spindle makes sense for you. I've got a 300w quiet spindle coming in today, so I'll be posting about how much of an improvement it is (once I find time to install and test it)

    Love your video. However, just getting started with my new machine, a CNC3-3018Pro, and want to make something simple, such as a plastic box. That being said, I need to know how I can use a piece of 8" x 10"' piece of acrylic material, and cut a piece from it. For instance, being an 8" x 10", I'd like to cut it down the middle to get a 4" x 10" piece to work with. The piece thickness is 0.080" and would only etch the depth a little more than half way to ultimately snap into two equal pieces.
    So far, I can't seem to set the machine in a way to only cut two (x & y) sides, leaving the opposite (x & y) sides intact, and not be cut.
    Thus, leaving the two pieces in sizes 4" x 10" each.
    Any help you can offer, will be greatly appreciated. Using
    Starting anew, Ron D.

    Good explanation. Problem is Easel only sees my machine about half the time. When it does detect my machine the g code doesn't generate the M3 command to turn on my spindle. Easel is a nice idea but doesn't work for me. It's back to makercam and universal g code sender.
