EMO ANAKIN | Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones Reaction & Commentary

  • Episode 2, our fifth episode! It doesn't need to make sense. Obi-Wan's mullet, Anakin's angry face, and the return of C-3PO as the comic relief fill this two and a half hour spectacle, and we enjoyed commenting on every bit of it. I took your advice and went into this movie with an open mind, and like the rest of this series, I'm glad I could watch it and give context to the random nuggets of Star Wars floating around the empty void of space that is my brain. Only one episode to go, so we hope you can join us for the finale, and any other Star Wars IP we react to in the future! ❤️Jacqui

The prequels aren't really that great in terms of individual movies but as someone who ADORES talking about character over anything else in a movie, there is so much to analyse in terms of the prequels characters which I adore to do and I enjoy how much the prequels lay the basis to really flesh out characters and the whole Star Wars world. I also got into Star Wars from seeing edits of the prequels so I am bias

As much as one would find what Anakin did disturbing, you still have to look at it in-universe as well.
Anakin destroyed a village of savages, savages responsible for the deaths of 30 innocents, the handi-capping of an elderly man, and the brutal torture and death of his mother.

  • @willfanofmanyii3751
    @willfanofmanyii3751 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Anakin's pointing blame towards the Jedi over the death of his mother does have grounds to it. He was never allowed to fulfill his childhood promise.
For ten years, the Jedi refused to free Anakin's mother from slavery, simple because of their connection. Anakin was having nightmares over his mother's torture, and instead of doing something about it, Obi-Wan waved it off, making Anakin feel lesser.
"Dreams pass in time..." And so did Anakin's mother.

    @georgeide2337 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Idk i feel like his "emo" character is more justified than some people think. He was a child slave who was beaten and treated like a tool with only his mother as family. Then he was forced to leave the person he loved most as a slave in order to become a jedi, who at that point was too old for training according to every jedi.
If you are emotionally unstable after that and possesive about the things you love i could understand that.

    • @theshamelist
      @theshamelist  ปีที่แล้ว +4

I mean, you're not wrong - and he definitely does have justification for being emotional, possessive, and a little clingy....Except for when he goes on a killer rampage and then turns into an evil overlord. That's....less justifiable. - Sam

@@theshamelistWould be harder to turn if you dont have the force training to wield the dark side power. I still think the mistake is on the jedi for training him and mistrusting him at the same time therby not comitting to anything, not defending his actions but they didnt give him much not even freeing his mother.
George Lucas said the skywalker saga is about the tradegy of Darth vader which makes sense to me.

@@theshamelist Actually, Anakin is a representation of Satan, look:
Satan was perfect in his ways, a good angel - such as Anakin as a Jedi.
Satan was a Cherub, who used to bear a flame sword (such as the jedi)
Satan was a priest, such was Vader, whose plate on his chest remembers the plates of Israel's priests.
The Antichrist is a distorted Messiah, and Anakin was a distorted Messiah too
The Empire is basically the government of the Antichrist, and Vader's redemption is like the return of the Messiah.
I see that Vader going to evil, even being at first, a good person, is like Satan's life before his fall.
There are a lot of parallels in the comics and series, those who know the Bible better, will see these parallels

@@theshamelist anakin was bullied in the Jedi temple and the young kings made fun of him for being a slave. Anakin doesn’t know what true love is because he’s never had it before even Padme wrote a notebook about why she liked anakin and it was because he was honest and true about his feelings and that yes he has bad thoughts and did bad stuff but he’s a really kind character deep down and does stuff to help others. In my opinion I hated the leia and Han Solo duo because it felt like Han was trying to force himself on her and wouldn’t leave her alone and leia liking him because he’s the bad boy trope and also in ep 4 she’s 19 and he’s 30 but anakin and Padme only have a 5 yr gap

11:00 Cloners made clones for money (and scientific interest, i think)). Mercenaries, bodyguards, sex slaves, etc. As for the clone troopers, they are literally 10-year-old brainwashed children (their life expectancy is half that of normal people), breeding for war.
27:05 Well, that makes sense. Obi-Wan told Anakin to ignore his dreams about his mother. Of course, it's not Obi-Wan's fault personally - the Jedi are not allowed to have a family, which is why Anakin didn't meet his mother.
I love the second episode - it's intense and the love line, although controversial, but not "typical". Either way, it's much better than the Disney sequels.

I am an old-school fan who did not hate the Prequels. My biggest complaint was not in the overarching story, it was in the dialogue, and in the direction of the characters. George knows how to tell a story, but as Harrison Ford once said to Lucas, "You can write this shit, but you can't say it.". I am on the Aaron Sorkin approach to dialogue. The character is shown through the dialogue as well as action, and there has to be "music" in the words spoken to help make sense of everything for the actor, and by extension the audience. Every Sorkin movie you hear it as well as see it, in Lucas-written films....ummmm, not so much!
There is an important deleted scene involving the Jedi Archives librarian, Jocasta Nu, and Obi-wan. It helps explain Dooku: th-cam.com/video/wDen21_xe2g/w-d-xo.html
Much like Samuel L. Jackson wanted a purple lightsaber, Christopher Lee was an accomplished fencer, so the curved hilt of his saber is designed more for a single hand (like a fencer who fights with a foil, epee, or saber) as opposed to the double-handed grip that is akin to European broadswords or (more accurately) Japanese katanas, as the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa definitely influenced Lucas (especially 'Hidden Fortress').
I actually loved some of the snarky comments about this film, because as much of a Star Wars fan as I am, I can see that this one, in particular, has problems in the Prequel Trilogy. Lots and lots of moving parts, a bit confusing, and dialogue that goes "CLUNK" almost every time someone opens their mouth.
Thank you, Jacqui and Sam...you keep showing me why I love watching your reactions!!!

Yeah, I loved the prequels, even the political machinations, and Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw in a theater when I was 5 years old in 1977. Been in line opening day for every SW movie since then and the prequels are fine except for that dialogue. I'd love to see someone come up with an edited version of them where they dub over the clunkier examples of Lucas' words with more elegant versions, even if it had to be anime style where the words don't match the mouths.

I’m not sure if this has already been said on another video but something George Lucas has said is that Star Wars rhymes. So there’s a lot of repeating things in each trilogy. It’s not necessarily a good thing on the whole but does bring some sense to the repetitive nature at times.

At the start of the Clone Wars there were roughly 10 thousand Jedi. The battle of Geonosis in this movie there was 212 Jedi sent and only 31 survived.

The green lightsaber that Anakin got was the second lightsaber of Kit Fisto and the blue was actually Mace Windu's before he created his iconic purple lightsaber when he created Vapad. So no they were not "spares" also I'm very impressed with your knowledge of lore as to how lightsabers are created. During the Padawan stage usually during adolescence they are taken to the ice planet of Ilum and the crystals actually choose them by calling out to them through the Force. They then have to use telekinesis to build and assemble their lightsaber

Thus far in all the movies, tv series, video games, etc that we experience the Star Wars universe in I’ll admit that I don’t recall anyone ever even mentioning a therapist let alone seen one. And judging by all that media, if ever there was a place that needed therapy it is most definitely the folks in the Star Wars universe. You can literally pick any stories’ main characters we’re introduced to in any of these media and think about how if the universe had therapy how different things might turn out for the characters and the universe as a whole. Like Star Wars could literally be a long advertisement about the importance of mental health and the need for quality counseling and therapy! If there is any therapists in Star Wars universe either they’re incredibly under appreciated and under paid or they’re so rare that only a few extremely privileged folks know about them.

Imo Attack of the Clones is an overhated classic.
The most common "critiques" are that it's hammy, archaic in style (probably the most direct hommage to the 1930 matinée serials that all of Star Wars is based on) and the characters don't act the way some people want them to (i.e. "cringy", flawed, unreasonable).
But in my eyes none of that is even close to make the film "objectively bad".
Attack of the Clones honestly feels like the most "George Lucas" film since the original Star Wars. It's heavy in lore and worldbuilding, impeccably stylish, unconventional in direction, dialogue and acting, chock-full of loving references to classic cinema and George's earlier work like American Graffiti or THX 1138 and just generally a wonderfully creative and unhinged mix of genres, ideas and inspirations.
What I've gathered over the years though is that most of the mainstream just really, _really_ dislikes George Lucas and his work. He's always been an outlier through and through. Never got along with the Hollywood-elite, didn't even get along with the first generation of his own fans who mostly hate him these days for...continuing to do what made Star Wars so iconic in the first place: Innovating, pushing the envelope, ignoring ridgid standarts of what artists can or can't do.
It's odd. The very things that propelled him into stardom hurled him into infamy.
I for one loved him every step of the way and he'll always have my deepest respect and admiration for his work and character.
Looking forward to Revenge of the Sith cause that's where everything that George set up in this trilogy pays off ✨magnificently✨, giving some of the critics borderline whiplash in a sense of "Wait, how did this suddenly become good?". When in reality it had always been building towards that quality.
And we've seen by now what happens when you give the dogmatic mainstream a chance to "make Star Wars right". It's called "Episode 7: The Force Awakens" and it's one of the most soulless, unoriginal and creatively bankrupt films I've ever had the displeasure of watching.
But hey, at least we broke George's artistic spirit and will never have to endure a film with actual heart, character and style again.
    Long live braindead, hyper-safe consumerism!
Anyways, I'm ranting, and not even particularly towards you guys. You seem reasonable and respectful enough about your dislike. Just venting my frustrations about a world where pleasing a non-existent status quo has overwritten the magic of true expression.
Not that the latter is dead and gone. You just have to know where to look.
May the force be with you.

I am one of the original Star Wars fans having seen the first Star Wars when I was 9 years old. The original trilogy has a special place in my heart and I know they have a different feel than the prequels. However, the prequels are great movies too and it is possible for one to enjoy them if you don't spend the whole time tearing the movie to bits and belittling every moment!!! I remember seeing all three prequel films in sold out theaters full of fans cheering for all the positive moments and becoming teary-eyed for the sad moments. I never heard any negativity towards the films from anyone at that time. All I ever saw was excited fans enjoying the experience of new Star Wars movies. My daughters were 4 and 6 when we saw Attack of the Clones and we loved it then just as much we do now.
I just wish everyone could watch movies without being so critical. It is impossible to find the good in someone or something if you spend all your time analyzing them!!! 🙄😪🤨

It's interesting, my mom says the same thing to me--she wishes I could simply enjoy movies and not be so critical. But the thing is, I don't think there's a right or wrong way to enjoy something. I enjoy looking at cinema critically, and that is how I see the good in it. I like understanding what makes something work on a technical level, and that's how I appreciate it. It's simply how my brain functions. So maybe to you, analyzing something takes all the fun out of it, but for me, that's the fun part. Sam and I started this channel because talking about movies, analyzing them and sharing our thoughts, is fun for us, and why we chose to study them in the first place. One of my favorite things that a film professor ever told me was that just because something (a movie, or anything else) is technically good, doesn't mean you have to love it. And vice versa, just because it's bad doesn't mean you have to hate it. Commenting and "criticizing" doesn't necessarily mean we hate it, or are not enjoying it. I think we all just enjoy things in different ways, and there's nothing wrong with that. Simply one woman's opinion. ❤️Jacqui

Even as someone who likes the prequel trilogy, this one is definitely the weakest. Like a lot of Star Wars in general, I do feel that there were some legitimate criticisms (the romance part: definitely cringe, every bit of it) and some that I heavily disagree with. Like I loved Yoda being a badass against Dooku but a lot of people thought it looked silly and didn't understand all the twirling around (as an aside, Dooku's lightsaber handle is known as a "French grip" in fencing. Also in a lot of sword fighting traditions, Dooku saluting with his lightsaber and Yoda not returning it was a MASSIVE insult to Dooku along the lines of "you are not worthy enough for me to regard you as my peer"). There was also criticism about Dooku telegraphing a lot and also that they used CGI to composite his face onto a stunt double's for the wide shots. However, Christopher Lee did an interview post-release to explain that he couldn't do the footwork because his legs were practically useless (he was already 78 when they filmed the movie) but his upper body still worked fine so that's how the scene ended up looking like it did. Fun facts: the Death Stick dealer was Mouse from "The Matrix". Obi-Wan facing that big creature in the arena was a callback to a 1961 movie called "Mysterious Island" where a shipwrecked sailor had to fight a giant crab. Samuel L. Jackson had to lobby George Lucas hard to get that purple lightsaber. This was the first big budget movie to ever be entirely shot using an HD digital camera (though whether it was the first movie to be shot entirely on digital at all seems to be a point of contention and all other claims to it beyond AotC appear to be anecdotal).

    • @andrewft31

The romance part is realistic though since you are dealing with two characters who were taught to repress their emotions and to put others before themselves. Neither one knows how to behave in such a situation. Anakin is an awkward teenage boy with a crush who doesn’t know how to properly express it, that is very realistic.

@@Jacoc323 I would say Phantom menace, objectively speaking, is probably equal to AOC. However, Phantom Menace is also the movie which disappointed a generation of Star Wars fans. It was a colossal disappointment. Bad characters, awful humor, fake looking environments, etc. It was only partially redeemed (just a little) by the good lightsabre fight at the end.
By the time AOC came out I no longer had high expectations so I was able to put aside the flaws in the movie (which were considerable) and just focus on what I liked (Obi wan was a better character, the mystery behind the connection between the clone troopers and the republic, the arena scene at the end). The movie is still really fake looking, the dialogue is still bad, but there is more emotion in this movie which i like. The first movie is just unwatchable for me. Dooku was actually explained in deleted scene which is still canon. He becomes disillusioned with republic and go make his own way. He want to overwhelm jedi so that he can go out from republic without the war. That is story is selling to separatist who don't know about Clone army. Dooku after becoming disillusioned with republic become sith ally himself with Sidious and they work to create war and bring sith back but Dooku is also lied by sidious because Sidious have no plan for him being alive. Sidious always wanted Anakin and he will try everything to turn him. Dooku is guy who taught Qui Gon to be his own person and after Quigon's death, Only one who didn't listen Jedi was Luke who decided to save Vader not doing what Jedi wants and that was killing Vader

    • @andrewft31
      @andrewft31 ปีที่แล้ว

Actually Dooku was already working with Sidious while still a Jedi, they explain this in the comics which are canon. He was feeding Sidious info from within the Order, that is how Sidious found out about the clones, Dooku and Sifa-Dias were close friends and Dooku betrayed him. Sidious found out about Anakin from Dooku. Dookus Sith name is Tyrannus, the Clones were ordered a decade before the events of this film, Jango was hired by Dooku or as he called him Tyrannus. It is all explained in the dialogue between Jango and Kenobi.

That's one thing you have to realize about the Prequel Trilogy. George Lucas wrote it all by himself, with little to no help, and he's admitted numerous times that he's not a good writer. With the Original Trilogy he had help on all three scripts. I was 15 when this movie came out and I'd planned on going to see it with my friends as soon as final exams were finished (I was in the 9th grade at the time). But, things happened and I wasn't able to go, and by the time I was available, the movie had finished it's theatrical run. So I ended up seeing it on VHS instead. I liked it, but, it's also my least favourite of the first six movies. I'm really loving your Star Wars reactions, you look like you're having an amazing time, and your comedic timing is excellent. There have been several times during my viewing of your videos where I've laughed outloud at something you've said. Both of you. Hang in there for Revenge of the Sith, it gets wild.

SO... this is when I can talk about why the prequels suck.
First: I honestly think this is the best of the prequels (they're all bad) because it has the most fun parts: the chase at the beginning when Obi Wan and Anakin chase down the assassin/bounty hunter; Obi Wan meeting Jango Fett and the fight on Camino; the fight in the Arena at the end.
(THAT BEING SAID: here's a breakdown of why that's all dumb:
1 - the assassin sends a droid that isn't an explosive but is actually just dropping off, like, essentially a poisonous snake to kill Padme? Why not just send a bomb? Also, why hang out nearby? Isn't the point of sending a bomb rather than, say, shooting her so that you aren't there when it happens? Also, why is Jango Fett nearby too? Why does he kill her with traceable darts? Or was that all part of the plan to get Obi Wan to discover the clone army so that the Republic uses them, so that Order 66 can be executed?
2 - Obi Wan doesn't play along, at all. Instead of "Yes, I am here to check out the clone army" he's like "What? What army? Sypho Dias - or Cypher Diaz or whomever - is dead. No, I'm not here on his behalf; he's dead." What a shit investigator. Luckily the aliens couldn't tell he was baffled by everything, he just bumbles into discovering everything.
3 - So... how is that arena scenario *supposed* to go? Because if the bait weren't trained, dangerous Jedi, I think it would the audience would just watch helpless people be slaughtered by big dangerous alien creatures.
    ANYWAY...)
The heart of the prequels, the ENTIRE POINT, is that Anakin falls to the dark side. Why? Because his desire to protect Padme is subverted; he's offered the power to be able to protect her, not realizing that the power will corrupt him. Now, you'll see why that's stupid in the 3rd movie, the *way* he's seduced by the dark side is IMMEDIATELY shown to be incredibly, unfathomably dumb, but I can already talk about how the 2nd movie really fails even more fundamentally: because we never believe the entire core of the story: Anakin and Padme's romance.
First, it happens in one movie; their falling in love should've been the heart of at least the 1st and 2nd movie both. Honestly it should've been a big part of the 3rd movie too. (One of the plot threads, at least; the biggest one being, of course, his seduction by the dark side.) But it was contained only within the 2nd movie; the 1st movie couldn't have it because he was 10 while she was 20 (that was the first glaring error in the prequels - or at least, the worst of the first movie), and they got married at the end of 2 so clearly 3 isn't going to show them falling in love; they're already there (we're told, but not shown).
So, here's the story beats of them falling in love
1 - Anakin, now 18, meets Padme; Padme is seeing Anakin for the first time since she knew him as a 10 year old little child. He immediately impresses her by... looking at her in a creepy way, enough so that she actually explicitly states "don't look at me like that, it makes me uncomfortable, you creep." (She may not call him a creep, but I remember it that way.)
2 - He whines to her, like a little child, how he's actually more advanced than Obi Wan and Obi Wan is holding him back and *it's not fair* and he cries a bit while throwing his tantrum (are things getting a little hot in here ladies?)
2b - Ok... I mean, you could actually bring her down to his level a bit here, and she could whine about how she *used* to be queen but is now "only" a Senator, and she *also* feels condescended to by her "superior", because the new queen is younger than her and less experienced (she used to be queen but is now underneath a younger, less experienced new queen who is telling her how to do her job which is insulting because she, Padme, USED TO BE QUEEN), but... they don't do that. She is actually relatively mature here, which... we could've found both of them immature and understood their relationship while not liking them, but instead... whatever.
3 - He's all: we need some dude who tells everybody what to do and think; she's all: that's a dictator, you idiot child; and he's like: hey, whatever works, amirite?
4 - He's all "Sand! I hate it! It gets everywhere and it's rough! Not like your soft skin..." and she's all "whew, I'm so hot right now, you're so smooth and charming, I can't contain myself.'
5 - He's all "I slaughtered women! And children!" And she's all: "that must've been so hard for you. I love you, let's get marred." And they get married!
Um... that's shitty writing. That's shitty dialogue. That's two shitty characters. And the romance is non-existent, and bad.
The entire prequels hinge on their relationship -
(and the prequels - if you accept them in canon, which I do not - retroactively damage the OT because it's insane that Luke Skywalker grew up on his dad's home planet with his dad's uncle and aunt - I kinda assumed they were unrelated, that it was an adoptive thing; the "Skywalker" name seemed relatively unimportant because the universe is MASSIVE and so it made sense that the Empire didn't find Luke and figure out his significance, but if he grew up WITH HIS FUCKING ACTUAL AUNT AND UNCLE... the Jedi were at their height 20 years before and seemingly have been forgotten about... like, there's some little things like Leia remembering her mom, stuff that's ultimately relatively unimportant and I'd be happy to overlook if the prequels were good or even just solid, but there's also some pretty game-breaking stuff in there that would be a problem even if the prequels were good, and they're just not)
    - and their relationship is just unfathomably stupid and broken and I don't buy it for a second.

    • @SchulzEricT
      @SchulzEricT ปีที่แล้ว

      ALSO...
I think Lucas wanted the Jedi to be Buddhist. I think he got it wrong, although I'm not sure I understand Buddhism entirely so maybe I'm wrong or at least semi-wrong about that; certainly I'm not in a great position to offer a detailed analysis of where he failed and how to fix it. But I feel comfortable at least critiquing a pretty big element that he botched.
In the OT, the Buddhism thing works pretty well, is executed well enough, because ultimately Luke won not by defeating and killing Vader and the Emperor, rather he won by refusing to give in to hate. His actions ultimately redeemed Vader by setting the example. Love won.
Lucas' biggest failure in the prequels in trying to inject some Buddhism into the Jedi Order was with the "no attachments" thing; "no attachments" doesn't mean you aren't allowed to love people or have a family. That's fucking insane! It's not human (sentient) to not love; Lucas botched that so badly that the prequel idea of what the Jedi are makes no goddamn sense.
"No attachments" doesn't mean you don't love people, it means you don't get too attached to *the idea* of who a person is, it means you have to allow others to grow even if that means growing separate from you; it means you have to be willing to accept things as they are rather than becoming too attached *to what you want them to be*.
(Some people try to defend the prequels' depiction of the Jedi Order by saying that the Jedi lost their way and *needed* to fall. I appreciate that argument in theory but it seems clear that Lucas simply mishandled the Jedi Order; he didn't make them great so that their fall was a tragedy but neither did he make them flawed in a way that made their fall seem necessary. I think he'd've needed to do a better job of establishing *what it used to be* to contrast that with what it had become in order to show how it failed. His approach was pretty haphazard; I'm not willing to entertain the argument that there was a clear idea there that the Jedi Order had gotten arrogant and needed to be torn down but his bad writing failed that idea; it's obvious to me that he didn't have a clear idea for that, he had maybe some muddied ideas about it but also wanted them to be cool and so he kind of didn't do either well.)

Anakin is the result of manipulation of midichlorians by then, Sith apprentice Palpatine and his master Darth Plageus. This is why Anakin's mother explained to Qui-Gon Jinn "there was no 'father'"father's. She gave only birth to him. Anakin's mother Shmi was destined to suffer and die. This is the plan to bring Anakin to the darkside.

That is incorrect. Plageius and Sidious performed experiments to bend the Force to their will 9 years prior to Episode I to hide their activities from the Jedi since they would be working under the Jedis nose. They knew about the prophecy and that the Force would do something to force itself back into balance so at the same time their experiment succeeded Anakin was created by the Force. Sidious knew nothing of Anakins existence until Dooku told him about him as Dooku was still on the Council during Episode I and feeding info to Sidious. This was explained in the Plageius novel and the comics (which are canon).

Yeah, this movie really had a lot of "wtf" moments when I watched it the first time. R2 flying. Padme still wanting to marry/sleep with a murderer (but then again, some people even here make VERY questionable decisions...). Giving Jar Jar a temporary senator position. The very BAD/Cringe dialog.
Now, I'm one of the few who did not like Yoda's fight scene. I appreciated that Yoda used the force to pull his lightsaber out, but to go bounding around the hanger when it was NEVER shown his speed before felt sour to me. I would have much preferred Yoda pulling a Neo vs Agent Smith. Controlling the light saber with the force to defend and counter-attack. Using the force as his ally.
    But that's my opinion.

The bounding about was due to the Force. As for the dialogue between Padme and Anakin it is very realistic because you are dealing with two characters that try to repress their feelings, one because she puts others before herself and the other because he has been taught since he was 9 that expressing your feelings is a bad thing so when you come into a new unfamiliar situation you have no idea what to say or do so you just say whatever floats to your mind first.

@@andrewft31 "The bounding about was due to the Force." - Noooo, you don't say? And here I was thinking that Yoda was Tigger all along...

"If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. More than anything, you must be thinking of carrying your movement through to cutting him." - Miyamoto Musashi
I've been taught in fencing, big flashy movements will just give openings that your opponent will exploit. Controlled focused strikes typically wins the battle over wild strikes.
What I saw in the fight was BIG and FLASHY. It didn't give me the impression that either of them were "masters". The fight between Anakin and Dooku where they were attacking each other within a tight circle showed more control and focus.
As for the dialog, stop trying to give Lucas a pass on this one. The script was painful, and he thought that some of the interactions were perfectly fine, when they weren't. Kershner and Ford didn't like how the "I love you" dialog was working in ESB, so they kept doing take after take, when "I know" came about.
After Anakin killed the sand people, why didn't Padme contact the Jedi Council? Anakin admitted to killing women and children. That should have been a warning message to ANYONE.
Credit goes to the actors for trying to deal with the Lucas scripts.

easily the worst of the prequels here. basically ever line of dialogue is pure cringe.

On paper, the prequels are some of the best stories in fiction - unfortunately the execution of said stories vary wildly from scene to scene.
Episode 3 is good though, both on paper and in execution.
