    Sophia's a keeper!! She's following everything just fine. It's nice seeing first time watchers enjoy and appreciate SW and taking it for what it is. The good story-telling, weird transitions, heroism and betrayal, cheesy humor, even the sometimes questionable dialogue are all part of what fans come to enjoy about the galaxy far, far away. Critics not so much.
    Thanks for the reactions, you two!!

    The more I rewatch the sequel, the more I think Hayden Christensen is the best Anakin we could have had and I really dont understand why a lot of people hate his performance. Maybe episode 2 but it was part of the process of shown who Anakin is.

      I do love Hayden, but I wish Lucas had had him portray Anakin like the one in Clone Wars. Watching Anakin in the Clone Wars legitimately makes it so sad when he turns to Darth Vader because of how charismatic and heroic he is in that show

    • @kamixakadio2441
      @kamixakadio2441 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@shotsofpadronthat's the problem with CW Anakin. He is way too charismatic. Anakin was a troubled youth, grew up as a slave and was emotionally unstable. His demeanour in CW makes very little sense most of the Time. Haydens portrayal is the most logical, accurate and most faithful portrayal of Anakin, and is also the original first portrayal of teen/young adult Anakin, making anything that deviates from it, unfaithful adaptations of the character.

    • @shotsofpadron
      @shotsofpadron ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@kamixakadio2441 I mean, I get what you mean. But there were still plenty of times when Anakin acted pretty unstable in Clone Wars, despite being charismatic. He gave into his anger pretty often, usually when being protective of the ones close to him. I personally prefer the depiction from the Clone Wars because it makes his turn to Vader so much more sad, and his redemption in Return of the Jedi all the more satisfying

Yeah, Palpatine WAS the Sith that killed his master Plagueis, except it wasnt Palpatine that created Anakin, it was Plagueis, but she was SO CLOSE to it! As for Grevious, hes an android, a being in a robotic skeleton. He was a powerful warrior that needed the robotics to stay alive. It was actually Dooku that created the "accident" that required Grevious to need the suit and become more powerful!

And George Lucas produced and worked very closely with the show. In Anakin's defense, on why he didn't see Palpatine was the big bad earlier. Palpatine began grooming Ani right from the start. All of that conflict within himself was created by Palpatine, as a caring, fatherly mentor, who regularly excused and justified behaviors and actions that directly contradict the Jedi ideology. Literally, every turn was masterfully manipulated by Palpatine/Sidious from the very start. I've never dug into the canon to confirm this, but my belief is that Palpatine was even behind Ani's mom getting abducted by the Tuscan raiders to create a situation that would assuredly push Ani to cross that line.

    Anakin did NOTHING 'for' Padme. All he did was for himself. Not once did Anakin say 'Padme doesn't deserve to die' or 'I want to save my unborn child', ect. ect. It was always 'I won't lose you' and 'I can't live without her'. 'I' this and 'I' that. He doesn't consider how his actions will affect Padme. He doesn't ask Padme what she wants. He does not care about ANYTHING other than how he feels. What he wants. If he would have, for a second, actually considered how his turning would do to Padme he would have known that there was ZERO chance she would stay with Anakin.

She’s given a choice of saving herself, in which case her children will drown inside of her; or saving the children, in which case she’ll bleed out before the surgical droids can save her.

    See how Palpatine manipulated both Anakin AND the Council into making sure both Obi-Wan and Yoda were both off of Coruscant at the crucial time? And made it look like both parties acted of their own agency. He knew exactly how the Council would react to him suggesting Anakin lead a campaign, immediate nope. Not saying for certain things would have been different but Anakin desperately needed Obi-Wan. Making sure he wouldn’t be there for Anakin was super important for Sidious’ plans.

    THE INSIGHT, SOPHIE. I'm blown away. You figured out that Sidious (and Plagueis) created Anakin. That was something I never figured out or put together but got TOLD. And I got told YEARS after the first viewing.
    And you guys were both right. Padme died because Anakin was dying but ... he actually DID kill her. Not on purpose. He was basically fighting to live and through their bond and his power, he drained her life syphoned it away, to stay alive. He literally did not know at the time that's what he was doing (the Jedi did, indeed, keep MANY secrets about the Force, light and dark). Sidious totally knew. Technically, that kind of life-drain is a Sith ability. One the Jedi would never use. At least, not Jedi who hadn't fallen. And Anakin was already more than fallen at that point. He was already full Sith. Interesting side-fact ... the Sith reinforced their dedication to the dark side through a Sith Sacrifice--not just one. It basically amounted to "kill/destroy what you value most to prove your dedication to and affirmation of the dark side." It worked for more than one reason, as shown with the scene of the little padawans at the temple. Anakin murdered a crap-ton of Jedi and padawans, some of whom were, and I cannot overstate this, TODDLERS. If you're half-in on a plan or goal, but then you decide to keep going to the point of killing all your friends and some toddlers? You're not gonna ever be "half-in" again. You go FULL THROTTLE because: "I just murdered my peoples, EVEN the little kids ... there's no backing out, now." The Sith Sacrifice was more than a formality, it was brain-washing and consciously so. The Sith were consciously binding themselves to the dark side and THAT LIFE by killing anything they loved or valued that could rival the dark side and the quest for power. Sealing their own fates so that all they ever had left was the quest for MORE POWER. And each sacrifice was compounded by every kill, thereafter--especially if it was something they loved or valued.
    As an aside ... I really doubt that Sidious could have made a Sith Sacrifice--a true one. Because he never actually loved anyone nor anything. Not even his own family, whom he murdered. I wouldn't even call him Sith, if I had my druthers. Sith WILL sacrifice what they love for the power or goals they want ... but they DO experience love, even if it's just of the tenets of the Sith Order. They live and DIE for their Order and its goals. Sidious has never had such a Sacrifice or choice to make and is utterly incapable of loving or valuing things beyond their use. Nor does he care about Sith philosophy (it means nothing to him, nor does anything else but his own power) beyond how he can use it to further his own ends. He understands and wields Sith philosophy, and likes the trappings--it's a useful tool and the black cloak-uniform is pretty awesome, but he's never once loved and sacrificed, nor even loved and lost. If anything, Vader was the LAST of the Sith because whatever Sidious was, other than an a-hole, he wasn't exactly a Sith.
    Anyway, sorry for the ramble. You guys are so much fun to watch a movie with. CHEERS, and thank you for making my evening great!

    24:00 it's was all palpatine. Palpatine set up anaking to be a war hero Superstar during the war. He was very famous and a Big Warrior by then.
    So the way the jedi is acting in this movie makes no sense, anaking should be respected.
    But the thing is, it's palpatine who placed anaking in the Best scenario to shine in the war, giving him the 501st clone unit.
    Also, the jedi failed ashoka (anaking's Padawan) during the war.

    @adriankuban3134 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Anakin's descent into darkness was well portrayed.
    Because some Jedi never completely loved him, didn't respect him, didn't trust him, didn't take him seriously and even despised him.
    As a child before Obi-Wan started teaching him, he was hated and psychologically bullied by other children "Anakin is a slave to his feelings" and that was only because of envy because he was much more gifted and skilled than them.
    .
    .
    .
    And many other things and sufferings he and his padawan, Ashoka Tano, the Jedi like to cause.
    Yoda during the Clone Wars, he met the spirit of Darth Bane in Sitt's tomb, which is created by the rule of two.
    And later in his visions he saw Anakin becoming Darth Vader and didn't do anything about it because I thought it wasn't worth it.
    Anakin was a slave all his life - Tatuine, Jedi, Love, Dark Side.
    He became a father figure to Qui-gon Jinn, during his stay in the temple he was psychologically bullied and called by others "Anakin slaves to his own feelings", he lost his mother, the Jedi never married him all the time and without proper evidence he accused Ashoka and caused her to leave and finally he was afraid of losing Padmé.
    The only and worst support given the events was Palpatine who was a fatherly substitute for Anakin from the beginning.
    When he used Mace Windu's hand and after killing the Jedi he was already in the dark as the dark side itself showed him to the planet Mortis The One Son.
    On Mustafar, Padme almost got him from the dark side, but Obi-Wan discovered him and screwed it up.
    Anakin "Vader" built his castle on Mustafar and thanks to the two sbosobs he tried to revive Padmé but he could not see it due to the fact that Luke and Leya were already born, they were the only ones preventing it with their existence.
    Too bad he didn't find "Word between Wolrds" on the planet Lothal. He would create an alternate Reality or go through all of history. ;)
    .
    .
    .
    You have to find out about the lost 20 Jedi like Count Dooku, about the fates of Jedi with the ability to see the future, young apprentices who were not taken by any Jedi masters to learn, who showed little talent for the force and were not shown to the temple which in some cases was quite drastic, . ..
    Blinded by ego, aronance, pride, absolute help to people and not following the path of forces.
    Honor to the exceptions and one of the true Jedi was Master Fey.
    The Jedi and the Fallen Jedi (Sith) have betrayed the memory and message of their common ancestors of the Je'daii Order by their actions and the endless battles of their Civil War. 😊

    Sophie in particular is ready for another Star Wars content. The Force is strong with her and her understanding of both the narrative and the characters. Consume as much Star Wars as possible: Rogue One first... then dive into Clone Wars, Rebels, the Mandalorian, ( seasons 1-2 ), The Book of Boba Fett, Mandalorian (season 3), and Tales of the Jedi, and then you'll be able to watch Ahsoka by then. As for the others like Episodes 7-9, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Bad Batch, Solo, etc., those can be watched at random after. They aren't must-watch content like the ones previously mentioned. Take an even larger dive into this world. You won't regret it.

    As a huge Star Wars fan (mostly main stream stuff though), I somehow missed the theory on Palpatine creating Anakin! The comic Darth Vader #25 from 2018 seemingly suggests something close to it, but I don't know if the series is canon (I know Legends is not canon, but I don't know if that series is part of it). That's honestly a very good observation by Sophie, and it makes sense that purity (virgin Shmi) mixed with absolute evil (Palpatine) would create balance (Revan-esque idea of Anakin).

    I love how the scenes parallel when Padme dies Vader is taking his first breath, she lost the will to live because the will to act and courage are opposite frequencies to cowardice and fear. Palpatine planted so much fear into Anakin and ironically drained Padmes will and love through Vaders fear and hate.

    I think Disney and the canon confirmed that Palpatine used what's known as an essence drain to take Padme's life essence to keep Anakin alive - as he was already going to die from his injuries sustained at Mustafar: and force heal is a Jedi technique that the Sith don't practice.

    I think the emperor was the one who killed Padme. Whether or not she survived child birth, Palpatine would have killed her because an angry, hateful Vader served his needs rather than one with a satisfying marriage & family.
    That being said, the Jedi's strict policy of no attachments led to all sorts of problems. Anakin needed a family connection, as we all do, but the way he was forced to circumvent and deceive to get it, added to him being so possessive, which isn't a good thing.

    • @neil2444
      @neil2444 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wasn't wrong that the Jedi have no close attachments, and this is precisely the reason why. It was perhaps the way Yoda approached Anakin's attachment that ultimately was unreasonable and cold. There was no way Anakin was going to cut ties with the one that he loved so deeply, and it only encouraged Anakin's conclusion that the Jedi were not necessarily in the right. But I do agree with you that Palpatine needed Anakin angry, and leaving Padme alive would not have served his interests.

    It’s true Palpatine did kill his master Plagueis. However he never gained any of his master’s powers. Palpatine only grew more powerful with dark side surrounding him.
    Plagueis knows about the power to cheat the ability but he never taught it to Palpatine.
    While Anakin did have some depression and confusion for killing the Jedi however the Separatists he enjoyed killing them since he has been war with them for 3 years and they did unforgivable damage to the Republic.
    Anakin after losing all his limbs and getting burned alive got his mid chlorian decreased so much. Now his future potential is gone. Palpatine’s manipulation and careful planning went for nothing. The chosen one can no longer surpass him. Palpatine did wanted to abandon Vader for his failure but only saved him since there was no one left out their stronger than him. However Palpatine has always been looking for a new apprentice to surpass and kill Vader. Palpatine put Vader in that suit and tells him lies only to make Vader suffer for his failure.

    They way they explained it in the Vader “nooo” scene is a lot sadder in the novels they described something like he wanted to cry but his tear ducks were either removed or had to be removed because of the fire he also wanted to scream but his voice realistically is a whisper because the fire scorched his throat so he couldn’t even grieve like a normal person the only reason vaders voice is as loud and authoritative as it is is because there is a mic in his helmet that picks up on what he says and translates or transmits it out for everyone else to hear but how Vader sound in return of the Jedi when they took off his helmet in the end is how he actually sounds he didn’t sound like “weak” because he was dying that’s how is voice sounds after the fire it’s really tragic he becomes more machine than man he again literally can’t even cry no tears will come out he also has a tube that runs through his body and the craziest thing of all when they operated on Vader they didn’t give him anything to numb the pain so he felt every single thing they were doing to him he felt them carve up his body and replace the bits with machines he felt every little thing it’s really really sad there were some cases after this investigation vaders early years where he would put himself in situations to die there was one situation where the guy that designed the Vader suit basically shut it down on him and Vader was stuck in that shell but through his own rage used the force to move his arms and legs and to use to to help him breath and basically rages out and drops a whole building to n himself and the people he was fighting and he had a whole dream sequence with his wife only to wake up and realize that he didn’t die and he is still alive he was a very very depressed man “hurt people hurt people” kinda thing it wasn’t until he found out that the pilot in episode 4 was called “Skywalker” was when Vader personality kinda shift in the comics he even saved Luke a few times and went out of his way to punish those that seek to do Luke harm funny enough Vader makes his infatuation for Luke with the dark side and seeking an apprentice but at the end of the day it wasn’t that at all it was love in vaders mind Luke is all he has left of his wife and his life as Anakin he mixed that up with the teachings of the dark side but he truly did love his son and when he found out he loved Leia too he even comes to her as a force ghost to apologize he realized he did his daughter wrong and felt bad for it but Leia is very much her fathers daughter and didn’t accept his forgiveness she eventually comes to terms with the fact her father was Vader but Luke is much more like his mother than his father Leia for example wouldn’t be able to do what Luke did at least not during the time period Luke was she would of most likely fell to the dark side and killed Vader for revenge when Luke having his mothers heart would not and could not Leia during the movies was to emotionally compromised to become a Jedi she is very much like her father in that way love Star Wars hope yall watch the kenobi show Vader and obi interaction is the best part of that show

    Their final reactions to the original 6 movies is why I prefer new people to do Machete order. The series wraps up like a funeral.
    People who do a Machete order have a much difference experience with the whole trilogy.
    Return of The Jedi and Revenge of the Sith mirror each other ALOT. It also RAISES the stakes of Luke in Return of the Jedi, because you see how so much of what does (and had done) mirrors Anakin's journey.
    Story: 4,5
    Flashback: 1,2,3,
    Conclusion: 6
    But for the reactors, this was a PHENOMENAL reaction. I know people HATE on the prequels for certain things, but it is UNDOUBTABLY Star Wars.
    The Prequels actually inform you of what the actual stakes are in 4, 5, and 6. The audience only knows what Luke does in that point. However, the prequels give CONTEXT to things that you took for granted... ESPECIALLY in ESB (5)
    For example: When Yoda tells Luke that he is "too old" you don't get the sense of how RIDICULOUSLY OLD he was. Anakin at the age of 9 was too old. So by Yoda training Luke he is taking a HUGE risk. Luke not only is old, but has HUGE attachments to his friends. And by the end of the movie, proves this is a problem and FAILS (by stopping his training and going after Han / Leia).
    But again great reaction, and I encourage you to go back and rewatch Return of the Jedi. It will mean alot more to you now.

    Anakin's actions are what killed Padme. She basically died of a "broken heart". The irony is that Anakin was "seeing" her death, but he caused it. His joining the Sith to "save" her was the very action that broke her. Paradox. Had he not done that, Padme would've never had to confront him about the truth. His killing the younglings and the "let's rule the galaxy together" was one of her greatest nightmares made true. Then him choking her out? What? That did it. Anakin laying hands on her? Unheard of in Padme's world with him. She literally and physically died after that, only staying long enough to birth her children. Even they weren't enough to keep her in a world where Anakin had done the most unforgiveable things.

    The truth of Anakin Skywalker he grew up a slave with his mom but did not have a father Anakin was made in his mothers womb by the midi-chlorians. To to clarify why the Jedi council did not want to train Aniken was because he was too old because generally when they knew about a force sensitive child, they would take them from the parents never to be seen by the parents. Also, the reasoning for the whole series was because of what had happened in episode one the Phantom Menace between the duel of Qui-Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, since Qui-Gon Jinn was killed Anakin did not have the love and care that a regular child should have, but especially it was vital becoming the Jedi he was supposed to become see the newer Jedi thought that becoming stoic and objective were the best options to becoming a Jedi, but in the clone wars series, if they weren’t, they would often deal with “bad people “and that’s what eventually turned count Dooku over to the dark side (Count Dooku was Quí-Gon Jinn‘s master). If Qui-Gon have lived through the duel of fates (Darth Maul vs Qui-Gon Jinn) things would have been different. Basically objective + negotiative = Jedi also led Anakin to the dark side. Qui-Gon Jinn alive + caring + loving = no Darth Vader

    He started out as an organic being and was modified into a cyborg. He has a whole history with the Jedi and reason to hate them. See this link for his story. th-cam.com/video/Gf9J0GlPH6I/w-d-xo.html
    Also the Sith have a rule of 2. In that rule the student is expected to grow powerful enough to kill the master. Then the new master takes an apprentice and expects the same betrayal some day. It allows the Sith keep getting stronger over time.
