How To Clean A Stainless Coffee Pot

- A few years ago I was searching for a solution to clean my stainless coffee pot. After not finding it, I developed my own simple method - that requires NO scrubbing, stress...or throwing it away! Here's my super easy tip for getting the job done, saving your sanity, saving the landfill and making your coffee taste great!
Here's the original blog link: www.simplyorgan...
Just found your channel, I can’t believe how good this works! My husband was shocked!
Awe - love it!!! So glad it worked!
Wow 😮 I’m stunned at how well this worked. Sooooooooo easy and effective. I left mine for an hour and it was dazzlingly bright. Like new. Thank you 🙏🏼
So great to hear - yay!!! You're welcome!
Wow! amazing how simple & effectively my grungy stainless coffee pot got cleaned - 30 mins was all it took just as you described! Thank you again!
Your method worked for me!!!!!! WOW!! Before watching your video I tried three or four methods, none of them worked 100%. Yours was the only one that cleaned my stainless steel kettle perfectly clean!!! I used the Cascase dish-washer tablets -- followed your directions....came back 30 min later -- it was like 85% clean -- and then all I had to do was take a paper towel to remove the 15% - which was just seared in there -- I really didn't think it would ever come out perfect.... but it did!!!! LOOKS BRAND NEW!!! So THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My church has over 50 very large Bunn pump style coffee carafes that are used in the Sunday School classes and after they are used they are just typically rinsed out and turned upside down to dry out. Needless to say that over time these carafes start to get the coffee stain buildup and are near impossible to get this brown yucky gunk out. The opening is only an inch or so in diameter and there is no good way to get in and scrub it. I too thought we were going to have to throw them out and buy new ones. Thank the Lord I found your TH-cam video on how to clean the pots with little or no effort. I tried it on one and was amazed at how brand new the inside of the pot and the stem looked. I showed the ladies on the Kitchen Patrol how to do it and now all the pots are brand new again. We saved a ton of money not having to buy new ones using this method. Thank you so much for figuring this technique out. IT WORKS!!!
Awe, this was so wonderful to hear!!! I love that we saved so many carafes!!! Yay!!!! And thank you so much for the sweet comment here!
I just tried this after watching your video and my mind is blown!! I gave never seen my coffee pot this clean!! Thank you for the tip!
I,ve tried all that other stuff like vinegar, CLR, baking soda etc.and came across your video.I had nothing to lose and tried it. The inside of my pot is just like new thanks to you.I also did my thermos with same result.Couldn't, be happier. Luv ya for this....xx
Awe, so great to hear!!!! Yay! Love you back!
This is an amazing method! It worked for mine, which would have been impossible for me to get done as well if I scoured it. The gunk came off the sides on my first try, and to finish it up and have it done perfectly, I did it a second time. PERFECTION. Just great!
So great to hear! Thank you!!!
Sam - You are a genius! Used your method on a 5-litre coffee urn that was so coked-up it looked disgusting, and it came out just like new. So much easier than messing around with vinegar and baking soda, and twice as effective. Thank you x 100!
Love it! So great to hear!!!! You're welcome!
This is such a simple technique, and it worked perfectly. I also soaked it with another round of just boiled water for an hour as a “rinse cycle.” No problem-just great tasting coffee again. Thank you, Sam!
You're welcome!!
Holy smokes this does really work!! I did this to my husband's stainless steel 'to-go' coffee mug. Thirty minutes later it was like brand spanking new inside. Thank you So much!!!
So glad it worked for you!!!
1st, THANK YOU. I was about to buy a new pot for $30. Mine was soooo gross. I tried you method and it worked wonderfully. After pouring out what looked like dead black bugs (yuck) i rinsed out the pot thoroughly then brewed a batch of coffee. The wonderful taste of my coffee was restored! Also, i noticed that my mug (i usually use a waffle house ceramic mug) no longer had a residue. Amazing and thanks again.
I can't believe how well that worked! Cleaned years of stains out of my thermos with no harsh chemicals. I was ready to get some CLR and try that.
So great to hear!!
Great tip!! My SS carafe was a lot worse than hers because I hadn't been able to remove the coffee stains for a long time.
Now it is as clean as new! Thanks a million!!
You're welcome!!!
Excellent tip, been doing it for years now. Then you deal with the soap taste until you've boiled THAT out several times.
WOW!!!!!! Closest thing to a magic pill I have ever seen. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
You're welcome!!!
Thank you for this! This works great. I wanted to add.... I used your same procedure/idea to clean the cap for the pot. As everyone is aware, when the coffee is made it drips through the cap to reach the pot. I had previously tried to clean out the cap as best as possible, running hot water through it and shaking it vigorously when it was filled with water, shaking out the water and any particles that may come out with the forceful shaking. Now, this is where it gets a bit gross... Knowing how dark the pot gets over time with the accumulation of coffee stains, think about what must be going on inside the confines of the cap! I don't even like to think what must have been in there, as pot after pot of coffee was running through it.
What I did to clean it was to use something into which I could pour boiling water. In my particular case, I used a 4-cup Pyrex measuring cup. I squirted some Cascade gel dishwasher soap into the bottom of the measuring cup, filled it about 2/3 full with boiling water. I stirred it a bit with a spoon in order to be sure that the dishwasher soap was distributed throughout the boiling/hot water. Then, I placed the cap of the pot into the hot water. The cap wants to float in the water, so I took a smaller, 2-cup Pyrex measuring cup and placed it on top of the plastic cap so as to keep it submerged into the hot water/Cascade mixture. I left them all sitting in the sink, with the cap pushed under the hot water in the larger Pyrex measuring cup, and my wife and I left to run some errands. We came back a couple of hours later and the water had turned to almost just as dark as a normal cup of coffee! No telling what kind of build-up was inside the cap. I then ran water over and into and through the cap, shaking it vigorously in order to swish the water around inside the cap, manipulating the rubber gasket to also flush around it, clearing the cap of any remaining debris and to clear out the dishwater soap/water mixture. I made sure to run water through it numerous times in order to fully clear the inside of the cap.
I did also use your process to clean out the stainless steel pot (also using liquid/gel Cascade) and it worked great. But, I wanted to add my having cleaned out the cap, as what is going on inside that cap is not visible. But, rest assured, there is stuff building up inside it and you want to clean it out. I am going to try to go through this same process... with both the pot and the cap... maybe every couple of months or so.
Thank you, again!
This is amazing to hear - thank you for sharing!!!!
So awesome! Good bye to all the scrubbing I used to do. I do want to offer up that I do not use the tabs for my dishwasher, so I just poured in my normal liquid, and it still worked perfectly.
Oh! So great to hear - thank you for sharing that alternative!
I had already bought CLR to try to get the black crud that had developed in my Zojirushi but tried your method before resorting to the harsh stuff.
This worked! Amazing! Thank you!!!
You're so welcome!!!
Thank You, Works like a charm :). I have been using the Powered Dish Soap because that's what we have. Same thing except dump about a 1/4 cup of powder and fill with boiling hot water and let sit for 60 minutes, if the pot is super gunked up add a little more powder and let it sit an extra 30 minutes for 1 1/2 hours. Also one thing I found is that if you have old coffee and lime or other hard water build up and you tried Cleaning Pads and or Heavy duty Cleansers you most likely scratched the inside surface and it will attract buildup faster in a short amount of time, I did it! So consider a new pot or maybe it's time for a new machine. This time if you stick to powder or Pods to clean at regular intervals it should last for years.
Too bad it took me soooo long to find the answer to this problem! THANK YOU for this video! Absolutely stunning results! I have terrible arthritis in my hands and this has now saved them from at least one task that would have otherwise sent them off the pain charts with trying to scrub my coffee pot. Thanks again!
I also tried this on my magnalite pots. Worked great on them, after dumping the water out I scrubbed them with brillo pads and they were shiny new again.
Every time I try some TH-cam hack it turns into a waste of time...… But this actually worked. Thanks
Awe, I love hearing this great feedback - thank you so much!!
@@thesimplyorganized Dear SO: As a spelling tip, the word you want to spell correctly is "Aw," not "Awe." Awe is something else, meaning dread, veneration or wonder, as in "I stood in awe of the king." On the other hand, "Aw" is used to express mild disappointment, gentle entreaty, or real or mock sympathy or sentiment. Just saying....
Your the best , great tips and we just tried you method , it’s work for our stainless steel coffee mug , after one hour its look like new one , thanks so so much !!!
So great to hear!!!! And thank you!
Did this and shared…this rocks! Nice job Sam!
So I immediately went and tried this out. Truly amazing! I’m tickled pink! Thank you soo much!!
try washing it every once in a while= dish soap and water works great. You're a genius!
This does work. I did this with an electric percolator. I got a used one with burnt icky stuff inside. Didn't even have to scrub it, just ran it through the cycle and let it sit. Wow!
Love hearing that!!!
Thank you! This works so well! The inside of my coffee pot looks brand new!!!
Can’t wait to try this with my tumblers. Thanks for the tip.
Couldn't believe how great this worked! Thank you so much!
This really works great. Did not expect results as great as this!
You're welcome!!!
Wowzers! I didn't have the dishwasher pods so I used electrosol powder. It's like new now.....thanks for this tip!
Yay! You are so welcome!!
it works! I was going to throw out my pot and clean as the day I bought it.... thank u❤️
You're welcome!!!
You just saved my coffee pot! Thank you for the advice.
Thank you! I was about to throw my beautiful Cuisinart away!!! I love my coffee maker, now I can enjoy it longer!
So great to hear!!!
Thank you so much
I tried your way and got amazing results I couldn’t
Believe it and I was almost
Through away my coffee pot
Thank you 🙏 again.
This worked perfectly for my Bonavita 1800SS carafe. Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Wow, Get out! That looks amazing. I can't wait to buy some dishwashing tablets to try out this method My electric coffee maker is fairly new (3 months) and want to try and keep it clean.
I used to use cascade powder for doing the exact same thing it comes out so clean the pot is like new. I will try with the pods
As has already been said, WOW!!! it worked beautifully. But do you know which of the chemicals in the tablet is necessary for the effect? Just the baking soda? A combo??
I don't know - wish I did!
Whatever I use that strips the stains that well requires a good Dawn or joy or whatever soapy wash to remove the smell and taste
Fantastic pot just like new I'm glad for the info Thanks You very much
What the name of this amazing cleaner ? From Where to buy ? Please reply .
It's just a dishwasher pod!
Thanks 👍
Totally worked, 30mins and done son!
Yay!!!
Are we talking about a pod that cleans the dishwasher itself or a cascade type pod that cleans the dishes?
Thanks.
Raffie
It's a dishwasher pod :-)
Thankyou you very much, Can’t wait to try it ☕️
It can’t be that easy. I’m trying this right now!!!
How'd it work out??
Simply Organized IT WORKED!!! It actually worked really really well. The pot looked like new afterwards. Thank you for this tip, it saved me buying a new pot.
What is your opinion of using baking soda and vinegar (consecutively, NOT together!) to clean stainless steel?
I tried so many variations and this was the only one that worked for mine!
What about the valve on top? The valve on my cressimo collects little string of black stuff that won't go away no matter how much rinsing or cleaning I do...
Hmmm, not sure about that, I'm sorry
Video starts at 2:07
Thank you StLennyBruce! I appreciate it!!
Agreed, 2 minutes of babbling before she tells you anything. I don't need a sales pitch (translation - time wasted), I already clicked the link. I only wish I had read your comment BEFORE I started the video.
I'd love to see your channel! I wish people would realize that some of us aren't really comfortable in front of the camera...but yet we know how important it is to share our tips and tricks. Sorry I'm not a professional actor or anything. Geez.

great tip, will try that thanks for sharing
Do try - it works!!!
What a great share Sam !! Thanks
You're welcome!!
Wow! thank you for the tip. works really well.
So glad to hear it worked for you!
Start at 2:07 and avoid the talking!
just stick a dish washer tablet in your coffee pot, fill it with boiling water, wait an hour, pour it out and rinse, and avoid watching this whole video
Thanks for the positive comment - have a great day!
Thanks for the positive comment - have a great day!
Nice! Came out clean! Thanks!!
You're welcome!
Will this work in an electric percolator?
I'm not sure - haven't tried
Thanks for the tip, I’m going to try it out
It works and I didnt get sick
Amazing, thanks!
You're welcome!
I tried this worked like a hot damn , thanks.
Love it!!
That's amazing. Thank you. I've been using bleach. NO MORE.
Oh my - yes! This is a much much better option!
Been using bleach and water mix also. With much washing of course but the last bean my brother bought me really did a number and it is stained good. Will try this.
Would just liquid dishwasher detergent work?
I'm afraid not - I tried that and it didn't work.
Isn’t that gunk and stain the seasoning of the pot?
I don't think so...it's not a cast iron skillet. It's a coffee pot :-)
Damn that worked perfectly thanks!
YES! Works like a charm every time!
Ha!!! She thinks that is disgusting?!!! I tried this on our coffee pot at work. When I poured it out, it looked more like crude oil!!! This definitely works.
Love that!!
Boil pot and add small spoon of scale remover job done. Tip contents in vanity sink to remove toothpaste clog waste tripe
How often do you do this please
I think mine needs it about 1-2x per year.
I've never seen a coffee pot like yours.
plain and simple, this works (and she's cute) !
Awe - thank you!!!
Hello, thank you it works perfect.
You're welcome!!!
Going to try it right now let me get back with you
Thank you , my carafe lives longer now
Hi mom it’s Natalie I love u
Hi - I love you too!
It does work great, then I thought, lets do my stainless thermos. Do no do a thermos, it blows up - literally. Ensure the item has a cap that can release pressure.
Oh no!!! Did you put the cap on the thermos with the boiling water inside?
i did.. my mistake there.
INEED TO KNOW A SIMPLE WAY TO CLEAN THE OUTSIDE OF MY OLD STAINLESS STEEL COFFEE POT..ITS NOT ELECTRIC...THNX....
Gayle, you may not be aware in netiquette using all caps is considered YELLING and SCREAMING!; truly I do not believe that was your intent. Also, reading all upper case letters is more difficult than all lower case. Cordially and respectfully submitted.
Barkeepers Friend. Hard to rinse off but it can be done.
Oxy clean works wonders!
Hmm pretty expensive having to drop those dishwashing tabs. The stain will return with your next cup of coffee. Trying boiling the water without the tabs and bam your pots ready for your next cup.
Give your version a try and let me know how it turns out! :-)
When text is better than a video:
Put a dishwasher pod and boiling water in your coffee pot. Let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Empty the coffee pot.
You're hired!
Brilliant but DON’T FORGET TO RINSE IT THOROUGHLY! Those dishwasher tabs are poisonous! Rinsing really well is vital - it’s what happens in your dishwasher.
It didn’t work for me!😞
I'm sorry to hear!
Took too long to get to the cleaning.
Sorry, video is not my strong point for sure - am working on that! :-)
A final tip you should add; Finish the job by rinsing the pot multiple times with scalding hot water, otherwise you will taste the soap for several pots of coffee! Think of it as how your dishwasher runs after dumping the soapy water out.
Thanks for the info!
Wow
😍
works perfect! But she rambles on for the first 3 minutes - skip to the end!!
True, video is not my strong point - am working on it! :-)
And for those of us who don't have a dishwasher and don't buy these?
Maybe a friend can let you have one?? :-)
@@thesimplyorganized go buy a box
I tried and it works! But...be prepared for your coffee to taste like Tide for a while! Will never recommend or try again. Sorry..
Sorry to hear - I didn't have that issue
E no von usces a cup of Wodka? No vaste. No get sleepy qvikly!
"I can't wait to share it with you.". But you waited until 2'07". Huh?
I'd love to see your channel! I wish people would realize that some of us aren't really comfortable in front of the camera...but yet we know how important it is to share our tips and tricks. Sorry I'm not a professional actor or anything. Geez.
This does not sound safe... I know they are used in dishwashers... but they rinse for a very long time.. before you eat on them.. but ...I will not be trying this anytime soon... there are many other ways to safely clean your pot..
Her technique is safe for the pot and for us. Still think there is reason for concern then a simple solution that is not rocket science is followup her technique with a hand washing, maybe put it in the dishwasher with other dishes perhaps; not rocket science. Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.
You didn't say "organize" or "organizing" enough.
ok thanks!
Great. More than half of this video is useless pre babble! Thanks for wasting two minutes of my time.
@Bo Hunter Can I guess you vote Republican.
Thank you! Appreciate that! :-)
This 4 min + could have been 30-45 seconds.
Thanks for the coaching!
you wasted too much water omg
No, but thank you!
Isnt the dark stuff 'well seasoned coffee pot?'
Not sure but it was negatively affecting the way the coffee tasted so it was worth cleaning it! :-)
