I don't understand English very well, I speak Spanish, but I make the effort with your videos because right now you are literally the only one who talks about this topic.
100% agree. Consistency is the key to everything, even if you take it a small step at a time it's better than sporadic efforts. The mindset that you also need to have is that there are going to be ups and downs and plateaus and it's not always going to be smooth sailing. You're not going to necessarily see growth day after day. You have to just trust in the process and keep putting in the time. I saw a great clip from Simon Sinek and he said something that I think applies: "If you go to the gym and you work out, and you come back and you look in the mirror, you will see nothing. And if you go to the gym the next day and you come back and you look in the mirror, you will see nothing, right? So clearly, there's no results; can't be measured, it must not be effective. So we quit, right? Or, if you fundamentally believe that this is the right course of action and you stick with it, like in a relationship. I bought her flowers and I wished her a happy birthday, she doesn't love me, clearly I'll give up, you know? That's not what happens. If you believe there's something there, you commit yourself to an act of service. You commit yourself to the regime, the exercise. You can screw it up, you can eat chocolate cake one day, you can skip a day or two, you know. It allows for that, but if you stick with it consistently, I'm not exactly sure what day, but I know you'll start getting into shape."
Quad N back is the single most intense and working memory intensive exercise I know of due to its rigorous structure as a training program and time limits within each trial. It is extremely straightforward to measure performance in, and the training experience has many built in guardrails to avoid inefficiencies compared to all the other cognitive training programs
Thanks for the video Daniel great concepts. I know you mentioned 30-60mins as a good amount every 2 days. However I just wanted to touch on the concept of training effeciency. In my experience I actually think even 10mins daily is enough to see very fast gains as long as the person doing it has maxed out their body effeciency. Since the body works as a system, then if there is a weakness somewhere then it will limit the speed of gains. For example I started Quad-n-back 2 weeks ago and doing only 10mins daily I am already at Quad-3-back (Caveat is I already started with dual-n-back prior to level 4). At this rate I may well reach Quad-8-back by the end of this year with only 10min daily sessions. Here are the main effeciency enhancers that I believe are accounting for my rapid progress as a test subject: 1. consistent sleep (no brainer) 7:30pm in bed-> 8:30pm switch off and 4am wakeup 2. Meditation daily -> increases awareness which has transfer effects to Quad-n-back 3. Semen Retention & Nofap -> some people will be skeptical of this practice but I've seen massive success most likely due to the effects on the dopamine, test & serotonergic systems 4. Daily exercise -> (no brainer) increases BDNF & improves blood flow If any person incorporated these 4 in their lives then I believe they would also be able to get away with as little as 10mins daily of quad-n-back
Agree that those things help, but your gains will quickly taper off at only 10 mins a day. For example you couldn't be a pro body builder by doing those things and only lifting weights for 10 mins a day
There is plenty research and a lot of attention around N-Back. But what about other training methods that put brains into effort? What do I mean is: To build muscles we shall stress our muscles but there is many ways to do that 1. Gymnastics 2. Gym 3. Grappling 4. Dancing 5. Crossfit And many other physical activity depends on what human is achieving or what human wants. Main question: How does 1. Math calculations 2. Video games (Competitive ones) 3. Programming (Problem solving) and other kind of activity that gives us "pain" / pushing out of comfort zone, whatever. Would like to hear your opinion in wide scale Love your channel!
Those things all work to some extend, but only if you do them at a very high intensity, which is hard without a scoring system etc to keep you on track like Quad

Hey Daniel, what are your thoughts on Dual N Arithmetic or just arithmetic in general? I find it very challenging as one has to manipulate the numbers while they are in the working memory.
Daniel, I would like to ask you what you think about the genetic limit regarding the possibility of increasing IQ. In studies conducted on people who trained following RFT-based training protocols, quantitatively similar increases were found, but post-training scores showed the same differences found at the beginning. It is strange, given that in the hypothesis that all the participants of the study have reached the same level of difficulty in training, which by analogy would represent the level of the quad n back, the final IQ should be the same, this implies greater increases in people that start from a lower baseline, but which did not occur. Do you think there is some variable that distorts the final result? For example, some participants implemented strategies that reduced the load on the GF/nutrition etc. Or does genetics prevent those who start from a lower baseline from going beyond a certain limit (not necessarily very high, I'm referring to gifted scores, 140-145)?
Perhaps those who start at a lower baseline use different (weaker) methods of reasoning, such as visualisation, rather than pure wm, and these habits may remain ingrained post training
Thanks for the reply, Daniel. For me it would be enough to reach 140, after which I would simply maintain the gains. An IQ like that would be enough for me to achieve excellent professional results. I'm not far from the target I think, I got 130 in the online tests and I'm pretty sure that the practice effect contributes marginally to the score, but these 10 points seem much more difficult to gain than the 15-20 points gained previously .
Hi, I would like to ask that, what was the percentage where you increased the level of Quad N Back game? Was it the official 80%, or 90 that was in the study, or 100%? I started the game on Q 2 Back about a week ago and i did 30%, next time 40, than 50, and now after a week is over 60%. Hey man, I've been watching your videos for a couple of days now. A couple of questions: 1. Memory, or working memory, is often seen as one of the main bottlenecks of intelligence, the popular opinion being 7+ - 2 is the normal limit. Can quad n back increase this amount, and if so, by how much is 20, 30, or even 100 possible? 2. IQ tests, by definition, involve problem solving. However, in order to be a true Renaissance man, creative or intuitive thinking is also required. Can this be trained in some way?
1. A working memory capacity of 20+ digits is considered savant-level, so it's highly unlikely you can achieve that. Quad will increase your working memory, but not by that much. You're underestimating how much just a +2 increase can help. 2. Meditate, engage in creative tasks, daydream, read, and maintain a stimulating and challenging environment.
