As a livestock rancher in Montana, and as a former bodybuilder. I can tell that there is a huge difference between gym strength and functional strength. I can no longer bench press 400 lbs or squat 500 lbs like I did 20 years ago, but now I take care of livestock, build fences, build animal shelters when needed, stack hay, carry logs, and much more. These things I couldn’t have done very easily in my gym days. I’m 68, my annual physicals and blood tests have been perfect. I don’t drink and I pay attention to what I eat. So far so good. Shooting for 100 years!

In addition to hitting the gym and walking several days a week, I’m studying math and physics. I’m in my early 60’s, and fully intend to challenge my brain (and body, they’re the same!)for as long as possible.

Great to see people talking about Osteocalcin. Sitting all day working at our computers isn't the brain growth exercise we think it is!

    1. 150-180 minutes a week Zone 2 Cardio will improve blood flow and lymphatic clearance & thereby brain function
    2. 3-4 days a week of load bearing - Weight training or regular workouts such as push-up, burpees, etc or resistance.
    3. Slightly elevated feet during night sleep will accelerate and enable lymphatic clearance. Pillow under ankles/calves.

During my teenage years, I played sports, especially cardio, then combined cardio with strength training. Now that I am 50, I feel like I am 30 in terms of my shape and figure. The reason is that physical activity keeps me in shape

My attention span sucks and I’m always trying to improve it. I’m gonna try out a few of these ideas for sure. But I think it comes down to genetics.

I come from a long line of obese people and in our home if you didn't ask for and eat second helpings, you were being rude, insulting the cook. We didn't eat out of regular dishes, we ate out of serving dishes. Anyone who wasn't fat was referred to as 'unhealthy.' I wouldn't blame it ALL on genetics.

@ShadowZx22 I was mouth taping in 2014. There is a reason why people don't breathe through their nose. Everyone's body is different, everyone's skulls developed differently. Therefore not everyone will 1) benifit from the mouth taping, 2) be able to tolerate 3) it can be bad for some people. If your skull developed to have reduced nasal passages, no quantity of tape will change that and you have now also reduced the LITTLE airflow that you were getting and cause MORE harm.
