Good for you for sticking with it! I’m surprised you haven’t lost more weight, you look like you have. I have recently found out my blood sugar is high, so I’ve been lowering my carb intake quite a bit and trying to eat less altogether. I’ve lost a couple pounds and I hope a lot more comes off. This is hard enough for me, I’m a carboholic!

Thanks for the updates and there are benefits to it as well as many diets. People need to just switch it up to keep their body guessing. It's just like working out if you do the same routine you will plateau that's why you need to change constantly.

I had the same weight loss rate as you have experienced. I averaged about -8#s per month for 4 months. After that period I slowly attained my present weight which was another -10# and have maintained it for the last 16 months. This woe will knock out the allergies as well as skin conditions. My visiting family all had a cold this last 10 days and my wife got it. I'm convinced it was because she isn't carnivore. I have not got it and they all just left for the flight home last evening. I think my sons girlfriend is going to try carnivore because she really needs to lose a lot of weight and she seen how lean and fit I am compared to how I looked 2 years ago on my visit with them in Kansas. I am 73 yo and at the same weight as I was when I was 18 yo. Never felt better and I did eat a largely meat diet for my whole life. I was getting up there in fat and it was related to getting into baking bread and making pizza and drinking beer and some whiskey for the last 20 years. I still have made sourdough bread and pizza a couple times along with some deserts when berry season last summer. I just don't repeat the cheat for at least 2 weeks and it's usually longer.

The big question is the future - you hinted at maintaining through the summer (with some possible adjustments for beer). Could you see yourself doing this in a year? Or are you aiming to hit the goal weight and then return to some carb foods?
As for the cramping, my first thought is magnesium deficiency (are seeds and nuts allowed on the diet?), but you could try lightly salting your water (very lightly!) and having a glass in the morning, and a glass in the evening. Or, if you can get/make some, bone broth is another good option.

Some things umm it fussed about like pasta and rice. I really miss sourdough bread though. I could do it for a year but maybe more keto. See how it goes. Certainly super low carb minimal sugar is the way to go.

Did a 90 day challenge, lost 32 lbs in 90 days, down to 7.2% body fat. I never cheated and only ate butter, meat & eggs. No cramps but I take workout supplements. Day 120 & still 98% meat centric diet. The diet also changed my taste for sweets. I have no desire for sweets compared to loving sugar. Learn to work through issues. Once you cure your metabolic sickness the weight will come off and you will be healthy, that's the main point.

What was your starting weight? Also depends how much water you were retaining to start with (so I’m told by other commenters). I don’t have a desire as such (comparing to before). Not sure how I measure my body fat but a bit late now so can’t compare.

The cramps could be a lack of magnesium. Get yourself some magnesium supplements. Best forms are magnesiumglycinat. Citrate are ok.
Get a multivitamin, that doesn't contain magnesium oxide.
Be careful, magnesium is a laxative, so you have to se how much magnesium you body can tolerate.

If you eat cured meat stop eating those. To much salt in cured meat creates havoc in mineral balance. I had those problems past time i was on carnivore. Pissing too much, drinking too much water, waking up to pee, cramps... Drop down the salt, its not good as many people say it is.. little is ok...

You have done quite well on the carnivore diet. It evidently works for some folks. I don't believe I will try carnivore though. It leaves out too many of the good-for-you plant foods. My diet is: very little, ultra-processed foods - I eat smaller quantities than I used to. - I cut out many of the carbs I used to eat, but still occasionally have: bits of dark chocolate, purple sweet potatoes, carrots, wild rice (only), fresh fruit, oats and buckwheat. - I eat all kinds of nuts and seeds, but in small amounts, lean meats/fish, and lots of green vegetables. I drink only water, unsweetened coffee, or tea, and a rare glass of wine. My favorite food? potato chips (crisps). I still enjoy them, but only on the last day of every month when I'll treat myself to a tiny 28g (1oz) snack bag. (I double that on New Year's Eve -lol) I don't know about weight loss, but it's good for just maintaining.

Although I do Carnivore and think it's the best way of eating, I do think your diet is miles above the average person. If it works for you and helps you to thrive, more power to you.

    • @BalticHomesteaders

It’s a good question, not really sure. I guess moving forward maybe keto is more appropriate or moving between the 2. Carnivore works for me during winter.

I mostly have done standard carnivore, it’s only the last couple of weeks it morphed a bit because I was ill and to be fair it was always the plan to move to keto as I grow a lot of our own foods. There have been other videos I’ve made on this topic in the past 3 months.

No drastic weight loss because eating sugar products and bread even sparingly is not carnivore. Keto maybe, but not Carn. Cramps and charlie horse is from being dehydrated. Redmonds real salt is great if it is available to you across the pond. Good luck on your journey. Just keep in mind, beer, sauce, biscuits, bread are not animal products, and not carnivore.
