Yes but I could of excepted this end of the story if it was told a little better and the game was not completely garbage.
Well you start off as this GDI Guy who apparently went blind after some random war that you never hear about again, that happened a year in the past. You get these flashy new computer eyes that basically make you feel like LEGION with movies in your head. Greeted by your annoying wife who rants on about how she is so happy you're okay, you go into the GDI briefing room with a GDI general lady who tell you to do some boring escort missions. About 3 missions of nothing happen, Kane asks you to join him randomly rather than serve GDI, you can say yes or no.
You then spend 2 or 3 missions running around capturing TCN (Tiberium Control Nodes) for Kane, and fighting GDI and this rebel NOD guy who is never explained. You are apparently in danger and this makes Kane scared, so rather than turn you into a common foot soldier or hide you in a bunker, he makes you into a clone of Kane and makes you go into the public. You get shot at a rally, a boring evac mission follows, more crying wife.
Kane reveals he's a......something.....and he got trapped on earth.....a while ago.....for some reason.....and cant get back...... so yeah.
Final mission to capture the TCN and activate the scrin towers which apparently only you can do with your new eyes. You open the portal, you get shot by a GDI General, wife cries. Kane walks through the Portal and leaves. GG
Thanks EA, amazing way to rap up the 15 year franchise by giving us 7 missions and the worst conclusion to Kanes story ever. So all this time we were playing ET: The Game....
+I'm Batman You know im kinda fond by the GDI ending more in this...cause in this ending Kane basically is like "useless *leaves* " but in gdi ending he's like "thank you *leaves* "
For all the flack that this game gets, I gotta hand it to you, this is the most brutally honest synopsis on the game I have ever read. Well done.
The two best parts about this atrocity are:
1) The GDI lady wearing present-day Army cammies when this takes place decades into the future where no such uniforms exist.
2) And the dude at the end being interviewed in 2010 Santa Monica right off Ocean Avenue, where the disappearance of tiberium has apparently caused the immediate disappearance of all post-2010 technology and buildings.

Say what you will about C&C4, or the ending itself, but the way Kane said the "you're too fragile... you're all so f... fragile" really works. There's a sadness there.
Was it not implied in previous games (especially Renegade) that Kane was in fact Cain, son of Adam and Eve who was cursed to live on Terra forever after killing his brother Abel ?
Yes, in every single game he's Cain from the bible, who slew his brother and was cursed by God to walk the Earth for eternity, never to die. They even literally quote bible verses to enforce this as far back as Red Alert 1 (The Soviet Ending leads into the Tiberium Saga):
"And Kane went out from the presence of The Lord, and took up residence in the land of Nod."
Been raised religously, knew the Story before playing my first c&c game (Tib Sun.). My Brain went : NOD? Kane? Prophet? I'm fuckin' in!!! PEACE THROUGH POWER!

Indeed, after the Commander shot him and Kane said "He was not yours to take" and "I thought he would be (fine)" indicated he planned to take him with him, or at least let him continue living.
Kane fought over 60 years against the GDi and then he decides to collect his following, enter a spaceship and fly into space?

Meta-wise, it's funny to see that they picked Joe Kucan's brother to say "Kane's gone? Yeah, right"

If anyone is wondering what the scrin text in the beginning says, it's basically saying "Pre-order C&C4 and get some bonus stuff", the worst part is, I'm not even kidding, it's what it actually says. You can even see on the first line on the paragraph at the bottom, they didn't even bother making any scrin symbols for the "&" and "4" symbols.
The ending was kinda moving, Kane showed emotion for the first time other than anger and rage. Kane I think wasnt the evil man GDI made him out to be, he knew what was best humanity but also knew they were their own worst enemies and ruthlessness was the way because diplomacy (something humans are not good at) was just forestalling the inevitable and humanity would die trying to say this faction was right and victory proves it.
i think its really ironic that though everyone was against Kane, it turns out he was right all along, if GDI had just let him do his thing then the tiberiam would have been gone much earlier, therefore no war.
@ProductioDestruction The story could have used more "fleshing out"... the gameplay was boring... but the ending was pretty good. I liked how in the end... NOD achieves it's victory and reaches ascension... their reward for years and years of battling NOD, eachother, AND an alien invader.
GDI Accomplishes IT'S goals of saving the world from the scourge of tiberium. It pretty much makes both fan- sets happy.
Both the GDI ending and the NOD ending has the same outcome: The commander (you) dying by James and Kane entering the portal, etc. etc. The end.
I know that my comment is at this point, long overdue. Since I am now a writer myself, I feel I should mention that I have a new found respect for anyone whom shares my passion. But I also believe that assistance & criticism is vital to success. I firmly believe the reason command & conquer 4 ended the way it did, was because the writers had no idea what to do with the whole 'ascension' gimmick. Make no mistake, even they had no clue what was or should be on the other side of that portal. If you want the answer then it's really quite simple, nothing. Because much like a blank page in a book, that's how they decided to leave it. That's not a bad thing in itself but at least add some hints to inspire discussion.
I also believe making Kane and alien was a mistake, it simply leaves to many unanswered questions & it being 'cool' doesn't justify plot holes. They had numerous ways to handle Kane's lack of aging. Perhaps something to do with his experimenting into tiberium and lets not forget the cloning facility either. Either of these in my opinion would of been a far better approach. The sad part is I can figure all this out in a few split seconds of thinking and I don't consider myself a avid C&C player. Thou I have certainly played my fair share.
I cannot comment on the game play as I have never played command & conquer 4, but I recently bought the bundle & completed 3 which perked my interest. Thus far, this game looks like a complete mishandling of the series direction and personally I don't think the story was ready to end either. Perhaps one of the worst offender to the story is the 'love' nonsense they seemed to have shoehorned into the game, why must everything require romance? Not only is it unnecessary but it greatly detracts ones immersion. How am I to climb into the skin of my anonymous 'commander' when things like this are present? Since it's not and rpg I realize that they always walked a thin line, but they never needed to delve into the unnecessary.
Diamondustification Except the problem with that theory is that previous C&C games have established that Kane was around long before Tiberium was discovered on Earth.
I think the biggest problem with the story (also coming from the perspective of a writer) was that EA forced the writer's hand. Instead of being allowed the freedom to write the story as they intended, they were instead dragged along the lines dictated by profit and timelines, resulting in the aborted end to a good series. Much like Ultima 8 & 9 (both by EA) were horrendous additions to the Ultima story arc developed by Origin.
Instead of rushing this game out, they should have taken their time. Hell, I would have continued purchasing C&C games well past #4 had they been decent, even if they hadn't ended the story arc (or answered all my questions) but merely left me hanging with more questions.
Instead, I don't really give a damn what happened anymore, because I know that any game that is released by EA after this point is just going to be a cash grab, and not a decent addition to the series, with a storyline deliberately crafted to leave it open for a sequel.
Although, it's unlikely that they will ever release another C&C game. I mean, they have the Battlefield and Mass Effect stones to draw blood from now.
If I had a Flame tank... I'd park it out the front of EA's HQ and burn it to the ground!

What if Kane was brought to earth to save humans... all what he did was to prepare the humans from the visitors.
In the end he saw that tiberium was the only was to fully prepare humans because they are so fragile. But because humans are so stubborn, aggressive, disloyal etc. he gave up on the humans and use the portal to leave.

hey scrin are still out there remember "Prepare full invasion force, earth will fall." and they want Kane.
Kane is always viewed as a bad guy, but he didnt want a war, he just wanted to evolve, he never asked for the tiberium to spread all over the planet.
I think I finally get it. Kane actually saved the world. Since he survived hundreds or even to thousands of years, he's probably an alien (might or might not be scrin). He created the NOD faction just to create the liquid tiberium bomb to trigger the alien harvesting force to come to earth prematurely and build towers. He helped the alien secure a tower so that he can create a portal to the alien world as he want to meet the Scrin race for some reason, probably cause he's bored with earthlings.
But in doing so, he saved the earth. The opened portal somehow dissipates tiberium on earth, which is what GDI gravely wanted when working with Kane.
Without Kane, GDI would have been a superior force and would never have a chance to cause a tiberium explosion, until the entire earth is engulfed in tiberium, killing all lifeforms. Then the Scrin simpy come down and harvest what they have seeded (they seeded tiberium on earth long ago). Or they might have still came down prematurely > get rekt by GDI > and bring a super invasion army and destroy earth.
This is a pure example of how to turn a master piece legend into a big fat sack of shit.
Leave it to EA , they do that so well.
Anyhow,Command & Conquer will forever be in my heart and mind.

I wish this series had better writers for its story, and that it hadn't been ruined by EA. Could have been amazing.
This game is not a sequel of C&C saga...it's not exist...C&C 3 Tiberium Wars is the ending of saga!!!

I refuse to believe this is the ending. As far as I’m concerned, I’m still waiting to see what happens next at the end of Firestorm endings, particularly the Nod one where CABAL and Kane were found to be one at the same. Tiberium Wars at least tried to be like the Westwood games but they couldn’t quite get it. I don’t know why GDI and Nod both had to be morally grey in it. C&C had been a straight up Good vs Evil story.
There are two endings in this game except for the final scene.
You should play Kane's Wrath. The story's Act 1 took place years after Firestorm ending.

@caseih695 I have to agree, at the beginning of the video,as Kane talks it looks like something epic is coming and then he just crosses, the commander dies and thats it, all that tension builder for nothing. the series' finale deserve better.

of course it's miserable that the great story ends, but every story must end sometime or otherwise it just starts losing it's "goodness". Imagine if there would be C&C 16 coming in the future?

what piss me of is that Kane did not pick you up and drag you thought that portal like a brother would have and the last moment of your life is getting to see what you have been fighting for but no we got this.

UHm, so what is the difference between playing NOD and GDI? you get the same ending no matter what you do, and in neither case do you get "victory" as such for the side you fight for. Also, where the heck are the answers regarding kane?!

Yes there is that tiberium network,but even that would not protect her.And look in tiberium sun plot.Kane s vision brought earth to be devoured by tiberium,for 3 parts of this game He did everything,and i mean everything so tiberium can consume earth.And when his mission of Tiberium Earth is completed he comes to the same GDI he is fighting for nearly a century and offers them salvation?What kind of a twist is that,its like saying Lion starts to butcher animal,and sudenly says "i will save you"
