I agree with everyone else...you'd love "Santa Claus Is Back In Town"! And "Blue Christmas" is probably Elvis's most beloved Christmas song. It's been played all over the place every Christmas season for 66 years! Elvis recorded both of those songs in 1957 & the original studio versions are what you need to hear. For many people they're an important part of the season. 💙🌲💙🌲💙🌲💙🌲💙🌲💙🌲💙🌲💙
This man is phenomenal! His bluesy/jazzy songs are soulful and awesome! This is so good... and the musicians are world class! That bass line, Wow! 🎸👌 More Elvis please!
His Christmas album is the best selling Christmas album OF ALL TIME! The '68 comeback special was supposed to be a Christmas special; turned out to be so much more. I also like his Christmas song, "If Everyday was like Christmas". Elvis was so versatile. He was awesome at blues, gospel, rock, country, Christmas......you name it.
Elvis recorded to Christmas albums one in 1958 and 1971 both albums are great to listen to try to find them both you will enjoy listening to them I guarantee it ciao for now
Believe it or not-this was a "studio jam" and was not planned as an album track it just happened as they were working up Christmas songs for his second Christmas album. Which is why Elvis kept repeating the same lyrics over and over. When Elvis was digging a jam he just kept going-he loved the surprise of what his musicians would do musically and they loved the surprise of how Elvis would change his vocal.
I remember when I first heard this song! I was like, where did this come from?! Years later, I realized, that this was just pure, basic, Elvis. From hillbilly cat, rock and roll revolutionary, or mesmerizing gospel singer, he was the master.
I also love Elvis’s version of White Christmas more than the Bing Crosby version….Elvis’s interpretation is so unique and he does so things with his vocals-it’s amazing!
Believe me, I am a devout Elvis fan. Maybe because I also grew up watching , and listening to Bing singing, “White Christmas”, I prefer his. I wish you knew how hard that is for me to say!
@@tlbeman I'm right there with you I just think of it as 2 different white Christmas songs I love ben to my children and grandkids and great children ask me Which one I like the best I just say I wanna hear him both
They recorded this late night after 4 or 5 hours of recording in this you can hear Elvis yell out "wake up Putt" Norbert Putman, the bassist ,fell asleep
I have 2 complete Albums of nothing but beautiful Christmas Songs! I love to hear ELVIS sing Christmas Music! Thanks for reacting to this phenomenol ELVIS song!
It's not Christmas until you hear some Elvis. 🎄 He really is the "King of Christmas"; 'Elvis’ Christmas Album' remains the top-selling Christmas album of all time. In 1957 it was No 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for 4 weeks. It was Elvis’ first diamond certified (signifying 10 million units sold) album in the US and has shipped over 20 million units worldwide.
Elvis could sing the dang phone book and make it soulful and sexy... don't mess with this man, his voice or his command of the stage... . he just had that IT factor... wish I had been old enough back in the day.. lol.
Elvis's catalogue is so large (750+ songs) you don't need to feel bad when you haven't heard something. Just be thankful to Matt for getting you started!! I LOVE bluesy Elvis and wish there was a whole album of his blues recordings. Like a Baby and Reconsider Baby are fab songs ❤
@The Wolf HunterZ this is great!! ❤😊 I play this every Christmas.. Also a great elvis christmas song is "Santa Claus is back in town". Its a similar vibe.
Elvis did not do a Christmas special but the 68 comeback special is what the Colonel wanted to be a Christmas special, with Christmas jumpers etc but Steve Binder, the producer, fought against it...thank goodness. Elvis' original Christmas album is the biggest selling Christmas album of all time....about 20 million copies.
15th may 71 RCA STUDIO B NASHVILLE...Elvis doing a jam on this chuck Berry classic Piano David Briggs Harmonica Charlie McCoy James Burton guitar Only Elvis could do Xmas songs in the heat off the summer!. They tried to get Elvis do Xmas show, instead we got 68 TV special and history. Sing the blues El,sing the blues.
Woww beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ suzzi and travis youre the best in elvis songs mazing He is from Mississipi tupelo thats why its easy for him to sing blues music or gospel he is best of the best no comment, he is the King of music .bless u elvis presley ❤❤❤❤ we love you forever ...they are many elvis blues songs who you never listen like reconsidér baby of 1960 or 1977 live who were playing acoustique guitare on live you should check this vidéo. Thanks
“Just run through it a couple of times,” Elvis told the rhythm section; “I’ll come in somewhere.” And almost before they got going, he was ready. Pushing everyone else to eke as much emotion out of the song as he was (“Dig in, James,” he cajoled; “Wake up, Putt”), he cruised through more than six minutes on the first take. There was ease and menace and delight in Elvis’s after-hours performance, and the result has led more than one observer to lament that it wasn’t a blues album rather than a Christmas album that had brought them together that night.” (Excerpt from Elvis Presley: A Life in Music)
Elvis was born in blues and soul country. He grew up in Mississippi and Memphis! It was in his blood! I grew up in Mississippi 50 miles from Elvis’ birthplace and have lived in Memphis all my adult life. My Dad had a country/ blues band. This sounds like my Dad’s music.
'68 Comeback was suppose to be a Christmas Special, but turned into what is t did. "Fake Parker" didn't get his way. Elvis did one or two Christmas Albums.🎄🎅 Merry Christmas you two!
This is off my fave xmas album! ♥ You guys gotta check out his xmas song I'll Be Home On Christmas Day It's on Elvis official youtube channel. BTW - Elvis had 2 official Xmas albums
Guys, it's the same line up that was Elvis' live band from 1969 until his death. They weren't exclusively his studio band but they did play on a lot of his '70's studio recordings as well.
I lost my Mother six years ago and she loved everything by Elvis including this great song but she would always say to me and my two brothers and two sisters that it just doesn't feel like Christmas to her until she hears "Blue Christmas" by Elvis and she made me feel the same way!
You really need to listen to Santa Claus is back in town by Elvis. I remember growing up and hearing that song and my mom always said that sounds like a stripper song. It's really Rocky and bluesy
As the years go on, singers improve their overall communication of the blues. The older they get, the more deep is their talent. At the time of this recording, Elvis was only 36 years old.
Great reaction to an artist who's song catalogue pretty much has something for everybody. Your impression of Elvis Travis was very close to old time actor Jimmy Stewart who's It's A Wonderful Life is possibly one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time.
Hey you guys. Stopping by to let you know that Pentatonix has recently released a live VEVO studio version of Seal’s Kiss From A Rose and a brand new (yesterday) music video of O Holy Night, both guaranteed to knock your socks off! 🧦😹. Happy Holidays❣️
This may be too late for this time of year...but you mentioned it when you said White Christmas. Elvis's version of White Christmas was hated by Bing Crosby who was the originator of White Christmas. But I think it's a banger!
“Santa Claus is Back in Town” is another bluesy Christmas song, nobody does them like Elvis. Great reaction
Elvis Baby !

This man is phenomenal! His bluesy/jazzy songs are soulful and awesome! This is so good... and the musicians are world class! That bass line, Wow! 🎸👌
More Elvis please!
Leave it to Elvis to take a Christmas song and turn it into a sexy, soulful ballad.
That's BLUES not a ballad.
I know, poetic license. ;-)@@jettsteari3062
This is my favorite Christmas song! Epic. Thx for reacting to it!! 👏👍
Thank Ricky! Im 65 and never heard it. Thought I had heard everything he did. I was wrong. Great song!
Best selling Christmas album of all time.

A RARE FIND., AND MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS TUNE FROM ELVIS✨
Believe it or not-this was a "studio jam" and was not planned as an album track it just happened as they were working up Christmas songs for his second Christmas album.

James Burton lead guitar, Ronnie Tutt on Drums. Probably Jerry Shiff on bass and Glen Hardin on keys.
Check out Elvis singing Holly Leaves And Christmas Trees. It's a beautiful Christmas song that I think you will really like.

Merry Christmas Guys , Have a great holiday season .
There was no genre that man couldn't sing!! What a voice.
This gets played a lot in shopping malls etc. Just heard it in the grocery store yesterday.
“Wake up Put! “ was aimed at the bass player Norbert Putnam who looked sleepy bc Elvis always recorded in the middle of the night.
Please do Santa Claus Is Back In Town...sooooo good!!🎶🎸🎶

The “Christmas” special was actually the 68 Comeback Special and had I think one Elvis Christmas song in it. Love me some bluesy Christmas.

Irving Berlin, who wrote it, didn't like Elvis' version either. Can you imagine.
Hope they have the kinks Father Christmas on the list to listen to 😂 if you know you know 😂😂😂
I would love to see you react to the Christmas song by Deborah Allen the song rocking little Christmas.
Whoever was playing the guitar sounded more like BB King than BB King. Maybe it was BB?
Did you see Christmas at Graceland on tv?
