Hurt Elvis Presley (Live Music Video) 4K Remastered Elvis In Concert 1977 Rapid City
• Hurt | Elvis Presley (...
Hurt Remastered Performance by Elvis Presley Live From Elvis in Concert, 21st June 1977 in Rapid City. "Hurt" is a 1954 song by Jimmie Crane and Al Jacobs. "Hurt" was originally performed by Roy Hamilton. In 1976, Elvis Presley covered the song his beautiful yet powerful rendition reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 while reaching No. 7 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart No. 6 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, and No. 37 on the UK Singles Chart. He sang the song on stage 159 times, usually performing it with a reprise. In four of these instances, in Birmingham, Alabama, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Chicago, he ended it by going to the floor intentionally while simultaneously delivering a seven-second uninterrupted note.
Hi guys, thank you for the great reactions especially on Elvis. This one is from June 1977 only 6 weeks before his death, but his incredible talent, his voice was with him until the end.
Hi guys, thank you for the great reactions especially on Elvis. This one is from June 1977 only 6 weeks before his death, but his incredible talent, his voice was with him until the end.
Elvis voice was there to the end
I heard someone say Elvis becomes the song. I have to agree.
One of the amazing things about this song guys (and girls), is from when he first sang it in concert in early 1976: he ALWAYS sang it TWICE for his audience! After the 1st time he'd say 'Shall we di it again? You wanna hear it again? and of course EVERY audience shouted 'Yes Elvis!'🥰😀
This is so heartbreaking for me to watch. You can see the real Elvis shine through all the abuse his body was put through. His voice, sweetness and generosity are all here.
+RobertNorthrop For me too because then I was a boy of 12 years old and a big Elvis fan since my five years old. I had seen him before this already 5 times in concert and had also a personal meeting with him. I wanted also to go to this one which was on June 26 1977 his last concert but my mom didn't let me go because of a school exam and then 6 weeks later he died. I was completely in shock and devastated and furious on my mom because it felt that I didn't have the opportunity to say goodbye of him. Elvis was and still is my best friend, fascination and inspiration
Why watch it then? He was sick had an enlarged colon , people please damn
He was sick ,we all get that way
So hard to watch this he was dead 6 weeks later, before he started the Vegas era , Elvis put the ensemble that was his show , the sweet inspirations , J.D. Sumner and the Stamps , Ronnie Tut , Glenn Harding James Burton and the female soprano Cathy Westmorland , Charlie Hodge was there too along with the orchastra , Nobody else had that because nobody other than Elvis could afford to put that on stage and take it on the road , if you watch some of his rehearsal videos you can see just how well they worked so much so they where able to do this night after night . Godbless him and may he rest in peace he brought an continues to bring so much joy to generation after generation.
My mom was at this concert and was in awe of him the whole time. She was just 12 years old!
Elvis is missed so much by his fans. I think he gave us all he had for as long as he could...love you Elvis.❤️
Yes, his daughter Lisa Marie once said, "I think my dad hung onto the reins is long as he could". I never wanted to let his fans down.
@@MaryJones-vo5nzand his baby girl did not let anyone down. I loved her beautiful blue voice. Not by the style "Blues"if you can Hear colors. That was She. 😊
He just kept getting better and better
This show how elvis can control his voice unbelievable
Elvis was full of humility and appreciated others always.
Even as he started to fail physically that voice never left him, the voice never failed. It's just as pure and strong as it was when he started, Elvis truly was the king!
And improved as the health declined, that's so mindboggling.
The difference between Presley and an opera singer is that an opera singer when he goes for those notes wants to make it look at effortless - and there's a beauty in that. Presley tells you he's giving it all. His audience is never taken for granted.
Just The king
Elvis new his fans made him and if they ripped the shirt of his back, he would say "who cares, they paid for it anyway." He kills it here too, even when he was not in good health.
Even though it is sad to watch, weeks before his death, it shows his wonderful talent. You are right, he loved show casing everyone's talent, I was at one show when he introduced all of his backup and lead bank members, that's why real Elvis fans can identify them to this day. He also show cased, the Godfather of Soul, James Brown and the fabulous sounds of Jackie Wilson. James loved Elvis so much he sat by Elvis casket at the funeral. Sometimes react to James Brown's tribute to Elvis, "Love Me Tender" it will bring you to tears. You guys are the best. Thanks.
The finale places Elvis in Pavarotti's league.
At this point he had the most fame a person could ever get, and he remained humble. "who cares for fame and fortune, there only passing things"
Yes, and he also said to George Klein his friend when giving him the keys to a brand new car "GK, what is fame and fortune if you can't share it with friends and family." Such a humble and generous man.⚡
He knew what he wanted and how to arrange a song the way he heard it in his head!
Elvis sang this song 2 times in a row the last time i saw him in concert. because , we loved it so much . Elvis is the MASTER of Music & Entertainment. the ' Elvis Effect " will Never Die . he is as GREAT today, as he was yesterday . that's the way it is !!! hang loose my friends 🥰🤙. Diane from chicago, march 21 2023 . Elvis will ALWAYS be the most BEAUTIFUL man Ever . ( she looks so much like Priscilla ) Elvis was going to Break up with Ginger , " that's what he said to his dad , family , memphis mafia, and to Pricilla he said ( and i quote ) she is an opatrase around my neck " it's just a song guys !!! . but the Quote is REAL . ELVIS smiles because he APPRECIATES his band members . he Always -- lets them know how happy he is to have them .
He truly stayed that gracious humble boy from Tupelo. This brought a tear to my eye, knowing that shortly after this, he would leave us forever. 😢
So sad to see him looking so sick but his beautiful voice never let him down…RIP Beautiful man ❤️❤️
The ending is extraordinary my beautiful Elvis.
I don't normally write comments but I like watching your reactions to Elvis. I would like to recommend Elvis singing "I'm Leaving". You will hear his higher range of his voice.
Elvis and his crew ... best to the end ! God rest his sweet soul !
Elvis would be gone in six weeks but his legend will never die.
Thank you for recognizing his backup singers you are correct he loves showing them off and that's where the smile comes in or the head gesture comes in or the fact that he looks at them as a saying yeah there aren't they great too this song prove easy if Elvis wanted to go to sing opera nice job guys thank you for your reaction
Elvis always connected with the musicians and singers. He was the conductor in his own state of mind.
Perceptive comments about Elvis' obvious enjoyment and respect of the talents of others. He also enjoys his own talents, like when he smiles in anticipation of those closing notes--he knows what he's about to do and he's thrilled to share it with his audience. Elvis didn't see the talent as his own creation but as a gift from God he was blessed with and therefore it was meant to be shared.
Elvis saw all of the 'moving parts' because he choreographed and produced all of his recordings & concerts. He also used his hands/arms & body movements to conduct the band & orchestra.
Loved your reaction guys. Yes Elvis honoured and appreciated the TCB band and his back up singers. He often introduced other famous singers in the audience like Led Zeppelin, Nancy Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Diana Ross and others. He never felt threatened by their fame or presence. He was a wonderful, kind man who loved and valued his fans too. More Elvis please. ⚡👌🥇
Guys he was basically talking about Priscilla with this great song.
No he wasn't, he was glad to get rid of that stupid hag,
6 weeks later he was gone forever. So sad to see him like this.
FYI Elvis put together all his music and shows with musicians that he knew and admired. Watch his hands…. He’s like a conductor of all the ingredients to his performance. They always said that they had to watch him like hawks because he would be spontaneous and add stuff. . 👌🕺💕
You guys do an amazing job of picking up the subtleties in just seeing 15-20 of his performances. You guys are very perceptive. You are right. He could be a one man show. Just look at the 68 Comeback Special. But, yes, he loves and appreciates his band and backup singers and truly enjoys their contribution. You can see it on his face. You totally picked up on that.
That.. That.. Is the king. OF MUSIC !
It’s hard to believe that how strong his voice sounds that he passed away just 6 weeks later. 😢
I love Elvis since i was a little Kid, since the 60's and when i read in the News Paper i cryed so.much ! I miss him so very much ! Rip Elvis ! Greatings and love from germany ♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️🥰♥️♥️
i was waiting for you two to react to Hurt, bc I knew how you would be blown away. Your facial reactions are so different, Travis is just floored when Elvis hits those operatic notes, and Suzie feels the pain of Elvis being so gifted and dying so young And Suzie, you dont need those blue contacts! your eyes are more than fine!
He still had his incredible smile and his voice was perfect to the end thank you 😊
My all time favorite Elvis song. This song showcases his impressive range, he coulda been an opera singer, his emotions and of course his power
🎤powerful dramatic baritone voice.
Suzie.... your hair looks AMAZING!! You both are so intuitive! He loved everyone on that stage and they all had much love and respect for each other! It was Magical! His voice got better and better even though he sadly passed 6 wks later. Love him!! Great reaction as always! Thanks Roland!
amazing performance ! he gave it his all. to know it was only 6 weeks before his passing makes it even more incredible a task.
very nice and good that you see how Elvis always reacted to his background. he had so much respect and was proud of them. something happened once in Dallas that the dark ladies weren't allowed to come along and Elvis said then I won't come either ❤️
no one will be like Elvis
Elvis Presley took better care of a stranger more than he took care of him, self why. Because he loved you more than the promise heaven.
Elvis had almost a 3 octave range. He was amazing.
6 octaves
@@darrenbush1376 Elvis Presley has been described variously as a baritone and a tenor. An extraordinary compass- the so-called register -, and a very wide range of vocal color have something to do with this divergence of opinion. The voice covers two octaves and a third, from the baritone low-G to the tenor high B, with an upward extension in falsetto to at least a D flat. Elvis' best octave is in the middle, D-flat to D-flat, granting an extra full step up or down. Call him a high baritone. In 'It's'now or never', (1960), he ends it in a full voice cadence (A, G, F), that has nothing to do with the vocal devices of R&B and Country. That A-note is hit right on the nose, and it is rendered less astonishing only by the number of tracks where he lands easy and accurate B-flats. Moreover, he has not been confined to one type of vocal production. In ballads and country songs, he belts out full-voiced high G's and A's that an opera baritone might envy. He is a naturally assimilative stylist with a multiplicity of voices - in fact, Elvis' is an extraordinary voice or many voices. (Henry Pleasants, in his book 'The Great American Popular Singers' 1974).

Only two notes shy of a three octave range ❤❤❤❤😊
That is because Elvis was clinically and mechanically correct with every piece of music that he did. He knew exactly what it needed and he put it in there. That’s why his group was so good that’s why he was so good that’s why he had his voice until the end. It’s just sad that he couldn’t live to be 89 or 90 years old.
Great points on the backing vocals recognition of Elvis
Excellent observation near the end of the video. I like that you guys really pay attention and catch these things about Elvis that some miss. Elvis came from a musical family at a time when music was central to most people's lives. He was also raised in the Church where music was also very important and where he would have learned to respect, appreciate and celebrate each and every musician and singer's God given talent. It's also where he would have learned to give 110% in every performance. As you probably know, he also hand picked the musicians, groups and singers, many of whom were raised in the Church and in the south like he was. He never felt comfortable with the Hollywood crowd or the Vegas crowd. He wanted people around him who grew up with the same values as he was raised with... like his dedication and passion to do his best in every performance.
You guys are both very observant and come across as genuine. I have very much enjoyed all your Elvis reactions. Thank you.
That last note is more than enough to explain why he's the G.O.A.T. Great channel!!!!
I didn’t think to attach this song with her. But I did when he sung the song “Are you lonesome tonight “. Because the cameraman kept panning over to his girlfriend Ginger Alden. She had her chin propped against her fist her elbow propped on her knee looking bored to death. I’ll never forget that.
It’s a beautiful song but it’s hard to see Elvis so close to his death. Just makes me want to go back in time and do something to help him. Love Elvis forever.
He is talking about Priscilla, his former wife.
And probobly the most humble superstar of all time.
And like y'all said Elvis was about the music, he absolutely LOVED music in general and loved to appreciate the talents of other artists
I am from the tail end of the 60s music generation with this giant of a music icon and I've always wondered he felt during his last days...
No matter how many times you listen it's always great! He is special no doubt. My first love as a kid and still has my heart today.💞 Thanks for sharing. Nice to see your reactions.
Epic ! The king 4 everrrr ! Thanks guys great reaction ! Stay safe and Trevor love a stay mug ! Lol 😂 love you two ❤
I think Elvis was gonna take another woman to his next concert . I think he was still waiting for ex wife to come back. Also he gives recognition always to his band like a family. They look out for him too.❤
The BEST, ninguém ate hoje foi melhor!!!
Great reaction. If you remember, in the movie you saw how Elvis produced and directed every portion of the song, from the instrumentation to the back up vocals.
I continue to watch all your Elvis videos your responses are fantastic.
Please please please do more Elvis songs and its great to see how both of you have become Elvis fans keep up the great reviews.
Spot on analysis regarding Elvis's appreciation for his backup singers, band, orchestra, etc. He often sang to them all and they interacted with him. They would cheer him on during some songs. Example, How Great Thou Art from this same concert 1977 during which Elvis hits an unbelievable note.
Elvis enjoyed the show and his fellow performers.
I saw him singing Hurt live and it was even more awesome hearing it ❤
Thank you for such a great reaction. I've been a fan for over 50 years and, listening to you two, I can tell that you really get Elvis now 😍
You guys are awesome! Thanks for all you do for us and for THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER EVER ❤️ 🙏 ♥️ 🙌
extraterrestre dune autre planète set pour sa qui a qu'n seul Elvis 😇💞👽💥💥💫💫👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏
No on can do it like elvis did man the guy is a king 😊
This tv special aired about 3 weeks after he died. I was in college and only had a tiny 12 inch black and white tv. I wanted to see it on a regular size screen and in color. The boyfriend and I drove 60 miles home to watch it. Then turned around after it was over and drove 60 miles back to school. When I see these clips it triggers sadness.Just seeing the Mexican Sundial jumpsuit suit evokes negative feelings even after 45 years.
1st, knew I would like this video because Roland has the same name as a my late father who also Fell in love with Elvis as well ..music that my older brothers would play in our home. My mother got into his music, eventually. Didn't realize how much she did until he died that yr. of August of '77.
Thx For your reaction & staring this video.🎹🎸🎞✌❤🎤🎙
The King was probably the greatest performer ever, but he loved and respected other artists.
Still, he will be number 1
Love love your reaction. More please 💕💕💕💕
Thank You for both of your reaction of Elvis
I soooo enjoy your reactions!!!!❤
A mystical figure beyond a legend. Elvis has doubled his record sales since this death to 1.8 Billion records sold.
Soooo Amazing!! Love you two! 😍
The girlfriend was his fiancée - Ginger Alden - who accompanied him on the last leg of his final tour. She is the person who found Elvis on the bathroom floor in their Graceland bedroom when he died on 16 Aug 1977
Okay guys, i like your reactions. You want more Elvis, how about in '73 at the Aloha From Hawaii Concert--You Gave Me A Mountain. If you've already done that how about the same concert doing I Can't Help Falling In Love With You and let's see How Elvis Exits these huge concerts. He had the greatest entrance, he had the greatest exit. And then they announce--Elvis Has Left the Building, or Ladies and Gentlemen--Elvis Has Left the Building. How about Elvis in October 28, 1956 on the Ed Sullivan Show doing Hound Dog. These are other jaw dropping performances of THE KING!!!!!!!! Thank you, thank you very much!!! Lol!!!
Nobody can sing Hurt like The 👑 king.
KING
He is definitely not talking about ginger… He’s talking about his wife Priscilla. Lol
Its crazy to think that The King passed soon after this. It was only about 6 weeks i believe after. Aswell as his voice being iconic he was the ultimate performer!! There are only a few that pushed to this level as artists (as in having the voice and captivating performances) - Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and maybe the most modern of them being Robbie Williams
Another great fun reaction guys, he didn't move much in the last year or so like the halcyon days but his voice often hit the emotions. The coffee problem gave me much to ponder 😊😊
You two are so adorable. Have you done Dave Matthews band live yet? I HIGHLY recommend starting with their cover of All Along the Watchtower in Central Park. The opening bass solo is effing mind blowing and will hook you but Dave is amazing. He does an acoustic act with his pal Tim at Radio City you have to see.
The best version is New Years eve 1976 performance. He does something at the end of that song that is jaw dropping.
I saw him after this show in Sioux Falls, SD just a month before he past away.

Wasn’t it Pavarotti who said” Elvis can sing like me, but I could never sing like him!”???👌💕🕺
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!
I love your reaction. And you made such a good point brother.
They were actually engaged at this time. They had not announced it at the time, but hadn't announced it yet. You should watch video of his jeweler talking about Elvis getting her the ring.
Always THE GREAT KING 👑⚡️🧑⚡️👑👑💋
Haven't seen any new reactions - man y many more songs from Elvis you haven't done and then there are movies and hawaiian songs, etc.
Awesome cool song yay 👍😎👌🎤🎶
This was for 'cilla😢❤ just the way she had to indure He kissing of the girls in Love me tender live. Ginger had to indure His ode to His only true love. Priscilla. He must have had been miserable. The grass was never greener on the other side
Maravilloso de pie aplaudiendo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Elvis presley siempre será el mejor
Are you aware that he had the genetic condition A-1 antitrypsin causing COPD/emphysema which began many yrs. earlier & at some point needed the use of an inhaler to help him breath.
I’ve seen him interviewed, talking about doing shows, and I noticed he would say “WE do two shows a night…not “I” do 2 shows a night.
Elvis always chose his backup singers very carefully. The Jordanaires who were with Elvis for nine years from the mid 50's to the mid/late 60's sang backup on all his early hits as well as singing backup in his movies. The Jordanaires had a career of their own singing backup for such artists as Patsy Cline (Most of her songs), Johnny Cash, Ricky Nelson, Ringo Starr, Dolly Parton, Gordon Lightfoot, Don McLean as well as several others. Then Elvis chose the Imperial Quartet and finished up with his long time friend J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet. The common denominator for all these quartets were they WERE ALL Gospel quartets who had their own careers in the Gospel genre and all were very successful at it. Now for the ladies, the group The Sweet Inspirations and Kathy Westmoreland who sang the high soprano part ALL these ladies had an extensive history in the Gospel genre of music also.
So just remember when you hear the backup singers with Elvis, ALL OF THEM got their start in the Gospel music genre.
Maybe it was his way of saying Goodbye. You never know. Because two months later He passed away. And oh. He missed.
So lonesome I could cry , live 1973
Elvis did a great cover here of Timi Yuro's original 'Hurt'. You might listen to it and also her version of 'Make the World Go Away'.
That's Elvis being Elvis; he is exceptional. But two other vocalists in particular do this song justice as well : Timi Yuro and Vikki Carr.
