this is such a cool look at brilliant old analogue tech.
That scale of spinning up gyro was

the trochatron is named after the trochoidal electron beam path, the breakdown i'm reading about the ericsson ryg 10 says it's the only decade pulse counter which permits direct setting to a desired position. it stays neutral until one of the spades is pulled down
Very cool. It’s a faster version of the Dekatron then. Wonder what it was counting in the plane…
Very nicely covered, thanks!
And thanks to Hackaday for covering this too (as the YT couldn't be bothered to send a notification despite the "All" setting!)
Very interesting. I love the "home aerobatics" with music at the end of the video 😁
About the question of the 3-phase inverter, it might not work, but BLDC motors, like the ones used in drones work on 3 phase AC, as such tge Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) is itself a three phase inverter
Fantastic video
Cheers!
Dude, this is insanely cool.
Dekatrons were used in buildiing '50 computers such as the WITCH (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harwell_computer).
I don't know the use in avionics, come kind of very small computation?
