    So I'm building the trumpeter titanic for my pops,he's an old sea salt veteran and this is his favorite maritime story,so I'm trying to give him the most accurate interpretation of this as I can,so I've been watching all your videos and believe me they have been a really big help,so thank you so much

    Ben I am so glad that you mentioned my constructive comments in the previous video and better still that you took them on board. Honestly the videos are always far more engaging when you show the building rather than them being dominated by dry commentary. It's never boring, not to me anyway. And go ahead and mention my name by all means, I won't be embarrassed. It's actually quite flattering!

    In my years building styrene plastic models in my youth, using the very same glue you're using now, I always scrapped off any paint as it would prevent proper welding of the two pieces. P.S. for Nora's info, the smell was making me high and I didn't know it.
    Turns out kids back then were "sniffing glue" to get high on purpose, but I had no clue 'cause I was just a modeling geek. Love your channel and builds.

    Great progress and explanation. I do like to see you gluein' as well as hearin' you talk. Helps make sense of it all. Of Course There is nothing like having a "new" camera holder/ pointer person. She adds flavor and witty repartee to this operation, lest we get too intense. 😆

Not sure the level of detail parts that will be added to this build, but can I assume that deck chairs and maybe figures will be added before the sides are completely enclosed?

  • @JL-hr7xm
    @JL-hr7xm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Ben, Great video thanks for taking the time to show everyone what to look for during construction. At the beginning did you say Nora used her cricket to cut the windows? If so is that the circuit cutting machine, and has she tried to cut Evergreen or Plastruct styrene? I have wondered if their equipment could do so and have asked them, circuit, but have received only a canned response about hundreds of different materials can be cut. Take care.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The answer is yes. The machine will cut material as heavy as leather and light metal. I had her cut some shapes for me out of a thin styrene sheet. It worked perfectly. The only fiddly part is determining what setting to use so you get the right depth cut. They handle this by having you select the name of the material that you’ve put in there. Usually it’s there in the menu. Acetate was and it cut just fine. But the styrene involved some hunting and selecting of some material that was essentially the same thing. I have no idea how to interact with the set up software, though. That’s Nora’s wheel house.

      @JL-hr7xm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheMidwestModelShop Ben, thank you for the information, it is a big help. Could you ask Nora for me if she would be willing to do a short video of a test cut? Again thanks for the help.

    Hello Ben-
    Thank you for taking the time to reply to my questions, I know you're a busy individual!
    Do you have a list of your suppliers? I know google searches are great but I sometimes feel a little sketchy about some of these sites I find and tI ry to do my due diligence in researching them but the last thing I want to do is place an order only to find out it's shipping directly from the manufacturer....in CHINA!
    As always, thank you in advance and continue the great work!!

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I don’t keep a list. Is there a specific item you’re inquiring about? …Most of my supplies are purchased locally.

    • @dozereo2479
      @dozereo2479 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMidwestModelShop Yeah. So I just purchased a Blue Ridge (Very Fire)1/350 USS Salem from Free Time Hobbies and was looking for the wood deck for it. I've only been able to find one supplier who had it but they're in Australia. I wish I had more local resource but Hobby Lobby is about all that is around me.
      Thanks Again Ben!

    I have the 1:350th scale by Minicraft that I've been working on off and on for a couple years now but recently had an accident and now in a wheelchair and hadn't been able to work so I dug the kid up to possibly drag me out of this depression and awful time. In my life... so my question is could you recommend a company that sells detail kit such as decking and windows for that scale for a cheap price?

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll have to do some digging around. I don’t know about “cheap” for any detail set, unfortunately. You can get all of the big 1/200 scale China 3D printed parts in 1/350 scale for your kit though. Just go to the Titanic China 3D prints 1/200 - 1/350 Facebook page and order through there.
