My 2019 STI since day one I use Castrol Edge 5W-30 Full-Synthetic every 3,000 miles & OEM subaru oil filter. Right now at 19,000 miles doesn't burn a drop.
@@rebelliousgoat1557 okay which part # are you using? m.wixfilters.com/Search/SearchPartsByVehicleResult?vehicleYear=2019§ion=1&make=73&model=165317&engine=53703
I have a 2018 WRX pushing around 400HP currently on e85 I change my oil every 3k miles using Motul 8100 x-cess 5w-40 and using a K&N gold performance oil filter. If you want to protect your engine and filter all those bad contaminants and still get that high flow oil filter use K&N! No problems whats so ever , highly recommend it if youâre pushing more than stock power!
hey 2 years later howâs the car doing? and are u still using the k&n filter?
I use the Tokyo Roki filters (AA100) on my 2020 STi, the same one that came on it from the factory in Japan.
A local oil change place near me would use those on my 16 WRX when I had it. That's what they recommended.
Same exact filter with different brand name and part number, but literally identical part.
Genuine Mazda (N3R1-14-302) Oil... www.amazon.com/dp/B00HG7G3VA?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Where do you get them from?
@@kanyeeastlolz Flatirons Tuning
The Fram filters are fine if you change your oil evey 3k miles.
I'd use a wix or a puralator
Ultra synthetic is good and is got for 5k or above.
Per IAGâs recommendation, I am using Motul 6100 10w-40 and the Purilator PL14460 filter. This filter is a little bigger than the stock filter. I have IAGâs Trojan 2.5 closed deck block. I am on e85, so I change the oil every 1,500 to 2,000 miles. I now have about 12,000 on the block and am not burning any oil.
WIX 57712XP or Napa Gold 7712 with Neodymium magnets outside the filter; Motul 8100 X-CESS 5w40.
Got off Rotella T6 a while back after getting 2ppm of silver on a previous oil analysis. T6 is only meant for low RPM, high torque engines. So unless you're driving slower than grandma, get oil that's formulated for your driving style and purpose.
I went with WIX XP and Napa Gold since they're always available and better than OEM blues. I love Motul 8100 XCESS. I'd have to try Gen 2 though.
Does that Wix filter only work on STIs or will it always work on WRXâs too?
I always use the Royal purple 5w 40 and subaru oil filters (15208AA12A) on my 2016 sti perfect combination lol ð
Actually the 2010 wrx has a front wideband sensor. It is not as capable as aftermarket. When I got my wrx they had a narrowband installed. Kept throwing codes. After some research found out it is a wideband sensor and no more codes.
I had been using Castrol Edge 5w40. Pretty good. Switched to Motul Xcess 5w40 gen2 as well. Will compare after a couple intervals. (Stage3 2019 STI)
You can also set you triple gauge for a reminder and status on the oil and filter change at whatever mileage you want to set it.
Oh also: ð hah
The oem filters are just rebranded FRAM filters, not as good as you all think. I use Purolator or Purolator Boss.
My builder for mine recommends the oem blue long filter and motul 300v 5w-40 and changed every 2500 on e85
Total Synthetic oil 5W-30, WIX xp oil filter, stock motor.
Hey man!! nice! you got your iwire stealth wideband changed too! ðð― whitney and brian are amazing!
Long as the filter has the same psi pressure on the release valve, i dont quite care about brand. I change often enough on reg maintenance that as long as it lasts that standard 6k / 6 mo time frame, no prob on am almost stock engine. That release valve plays a huge role though when pushing the engine is all i know and have experienced first hand.
Itâs not coincidence that the time 8:21 is the compression ratio of this motor
Some of the best subaru content out there! Editing was sick. Love this channel.
Mazda oil filter fits sti? No issues?
Zero, only thing different is just the extra added length but it won't scrape the floor. Spec wise it has the exact same thread pattern and 17psi rated valve spring but other than that it holds bit more oil which is better anyways
I also thought the blue oem was the best until I found the video you added from mrsubaru! And sold on three black oem filter now. I had ran e85 in my sti for years and didnât have any major issues all in the tune/maintenance ðĪð―
Blue Filters are made by Fram for a Subaru USA, Roki black filters are Japanese made for Subaru and much higher quality, I will only use Black Roki or KnN, I donât let auto shops do my oil changes, they can never do the basics right, crush washer new, filter and bung plug done up. personally I hate the top mount filters all manufacturers are going to.
How satisfying was that, surprised you didnât use a baseball bat ðĪĢðĪĢ. The use of a torch to me though was a classic and creative choice if ask you me. You may have lost 10 minutes of your day but I was entertained and laughed ðĪĢðĪĢ like hell I really must say! Good luck with your future tune I am sure for you it cannot come too soon.
I purchased a billet adapter to run a larger WIX filter.
You and Devin should host a car meet together for all us Washington people thumps up if anyone agrees
Editing is on point.
Hi. What transmission fluid do you use? Thanks
I run 5w30 Amsoil and filter. But I do not have a built motor.
You should use the Maitsu oil from Japan which is available on eBay. We use that in Barbados and so far so good. Try it
Wix xp are my favorite, at napa they have the same filter in their platinum line, which like 1-2x/year they put for like $5 sale. Otherwise wix xp from rock auto or wherever has the deal
I have a 2011 Subaru sti, making 318 whp. I know itâs not a lot lol I live in New England so it can get cold in the fall/winter months, whatâs good to use?
Awesome kuya ð.
Gotta grab that gen2 from Brian ððū.
Pinoy?
@@Judgedredd18 ðĩðâðŊ
Good video. Gr a at information. Stay safe brother.
what size your wheels & tires? look awesome.
Iâve always pampered my â18 STI. It has 12k now and itâs had six oil changes, counting break in. Iâve always used blue OEM filters but Iâm now thinking it was wasted money and a trip to the Subaru dealership.... $15 Mazda filter??
$10 on amazon for the Mazda Roki filter.
My WRX Channel I live in Maui so it cost $15 with $hipping, small price to pay considering I only put about 500 miles a month on my car. Your content is great and I appreciate how hard you work at replying to peopleâs questions and comments. And thank you for your serviceðšðļ
Itâs and off topic question but what battery would you use? Having a repeat code for multiple random misfire and think my battery is going.
is the mazda oil filter will fit on my 2017 wrx sti?
I use an amsoil filter.
What do you think about amsoil oil?
Are we not gonna talk about that intro lol
Yo I hear a lot of aem sensors breaking but hey cant be mad when you wanna destroy the thing and the manufacturer also wants you to destroy itððĪ·ââïļ
can i get the motul sport even though i dont run e85 im stock but i want to keep my sti 2020 super healthy ?
Did you need extended wheel lugs for your setup ? 3mm spacers or 5mm spacers ? Thanks
ARP extended lugs with 5mm spacers.
Hi, why you take oil sample ?
i use the wix xp filter, i've heard that the oem one doesn't fit the specs that subaru requires lmao
I wish I has a Subaru too, so I could comment what Oil and Filter I use :(
Is there any issues with using the other larger subaru filter, 15208aa15a, instead of the 12a?
Hey so Iâm trying out motul sport and my oil pressure is wayyy to high I was on 5w 50 but recently went to 5w 40 and it stays at 80 psi even on idle any ideas what it could be
My dealership sells the black Tokyo roki for the WRX. Donât know if they colored it black and itâs the same as the blue filter or if the sti filter is different ðĪ·ââïļ
Yeah, they are different part numbers.
Ima make this simple... if youâre going to pour so much money into your engine to make more power I would not cheap out on an oil filter. Whatâs an extra bucks going to do? Iâll rather pay those extra $2-$5 for a good oil filter that will provide that excellent oil filtration and oil flow. I have my money on K&N gold performance oil filter. Canât beat a great oil filter brand that has done tests on the track and performance racing. So please people stop being cheap!! If you have money to modify your car, you have money to get a good oil filter! Get a good oil filter and it will make your engine last longer!
I get Subaru blue filters for free, cant complain lol
Is it me, or is this the same guy that does baderbuilt. Dude has the same voice. Hahaha
Great video until you killed that spider ð· ð im using 5w40 here in the uks climate. ð
Can i use the castrol sfx premium oil filter?
What oil did you use for the old wrx?
Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Motul.
What do you do with the sample you took.
Sent out for an oil analysis.
Lol that intro.
What. ???? I watched the whole video
And you guys gave a link???? To the best filter the Mazda filter yayyy then you said something was better then started talking about watches and pictures. Donât say something and not deliver
You guys crack me up, you will use the best âoilâ you can buy, then use a cheap filter! Blue filters are made by Fram (Honeywell) for Subaru USA, hello how can you guys still not know this!
The black OEM filter from Subaru for JDM and for us, Roki are way superior, I use those or KnN which I have right now. Still change my oil every 5k.
The cost saving of oil filters and even oil compared to the damage and longevity of your car seriously! esp a Turbo car, I can never understand this argument, you have a performance car! not a soap box daily!
You guys spend thousands on mods and expensive shit and then buy cheap crap for the most important part of your car engine! you might get away with it for the time you own the car is just daily, you wonât when you modify and push HP, track it or race it, oil analysis canât determine allot of of things going on, this is why race teams, rebuild, pull apart known areas under high stress, they check everything, not just because itâs racing, often what can fail is the one thing you donât expect. but serioulsy the savings on an oil filter vs quality one, just buy a boring every day car, if thatâs your jam saving a few $$ re a quality oil filter. Subaru have unfortunately for some years now, cut costs in this area seemingly in the US, we get the black ones here from our dealers, I buy em in packs and crush washers.
Have a KnN on the H6 Blitz and Roki on the STI and others. Also running Castrol Edge 5w/30 in the H6, though Motul in the STi. I have never skimped on filters or oil changes.
Would you skimp on the filter for your body, blood is your bodies oil, whatâs your filter! a pack of Camels.
Ummm...I clearly said in the video my preferred filter is the OEM Roki filter and will be using the Roki filter going forward.
My WRX Channel I was being general, not pointing at you directly, my bad if it came across that way, which is why I hit the like button. ðĪ
Oh, gotcha! Right on bro!
Blue filter for 2-3 years. Not a single problem. ðĪ·ðŧââïļ 450whp soon to be 500+
Subaru new filters are just a FRAM lol
Subaru filters are trash. Same as orange fram. Literally made by fram. Fram builds some good filters. But not that one.
