I’m a very new beginner at guitar. I watched another tutorial on this song and they started it with an open low E. It kind of reminds me of heart of gold. Now every time I try to play horse with no name, my mind goes to heart of gold and I mess the strumming all up and get confused. I was doing much better before I watched the other tutorial. Wish I’d just watched this one a few more times. It’s great.
Thank Youuuuuuuu I got it!!!! I'm just learning and I learned the Em chord A,D,and you made it so easy to follow you. You took your time to show the finger placement which is a Tremendous Help when you have beginners. The strum pattern was easy to follow you going slowly the way that you did.
I will be practicing this lesson over and over till I can change chords with ease. Thank you for not having a bunch of distraction behind or around you,the best thing is that you only focus on your playing and finger placement,oh and also helpful is you tell us the number of the string too totally helpful!!!👍🤗😀

U probably have bad tunes nobody can be that bad🙂
Strumming patterns are the hardest part with Guitar playing, but it helps once you can hear it once you have actually done it correctly. The way guitar is taught is sort of strange compared to doing it, but I guess it's all we have.

Hey guys, I borrowed an ukelele from a friend, and in literally 1 day I'm already playing songs (since they're like 3 easy chords).
So maybe it's an alternative for those who just *can't* with guitar. I really thought I would never be able to play any instrument, but with the ukelele it seems possible.

I been playing 35 years and don't teach but I have taught one cousin years ago and now a second cousin and I wanted to find proper instructions and clear easy fun lessons for him to work on away from when I'm not teaching him. People usually quit because of frustration and not having fun.
It's actually easier than "Smoke on the Water".

My big problem with chords is that one of my fingers are always touching another string and it messes up the sound of the string my finger is touching. For example: If I’m playing the Em chord I can do the 5th string one, but when I do the 4th string one I touch the 3rd string…maybe my fingers are too fat, idk.

To anyone having trouble with the strumming. You have to mute the two first ups in D-U-U-U-D-U, if you dont know how just look it up. It also might be the tuning, the song uses D-E-D-G-B-D but i play it on standard tuning and it works just fine.
