Is'nt it funny we never had this problem til we joined the EEC which eventually turned into the EU, without us having a say, and that is when the EU banned the dredging of rivers, canals and reservoirs, just for the sake of a few frogs and newts, and now look at the devestation. If Reservoirs were dredged just 4 ft deeper this would not happen, if rivers and canals were dredged on a regular basis this would not happen, but NO! councils spend the monies which is yours on the wrong things, they first fill their pension coffers then invest any profits on art or abroad, instead of doing what they should be doing and maintaining the facility and utilitys that we have paid for, NO! they look to the heavens instead of looking at what is underfoot, we used to have a facility called British Waterways that looked after all this stuff, but no councils cut costs in the wrong areas and decided to fill their own pockets via luxury pension schemes , YES! your local governments are to blame for this carnage.
