  • After I made a video talking about why the rebel is a good beginners bike I had a ton of feedback saying why it isn't. So I wanted to flip it around and talk about the negatives. As a disclaimer I love this bike and wouldn't change my decision getting it. But for some people it may not be the best for you and in this video I go through the negatives. There are more positives than negatives but if you wanna hear my positives there is link below on why I think it is a good beginner bike.

    about 90 horsepower and 75 ft lbs is fairly beginner friendly. And the 1100 is a fairly light and agile cruiser though more expensive than id like for a beginner motorcycle.

      @therideofalifetime oh of course, bro. I've never personally riden the 1100, so I can't say anything for sure. I know my started, a z400 making bout 50 horse and 28 ft lbs got boring pretty quick in a straight line. Still handles great though. Have fun bro

      I don't think it's a good one. It has elements of a good beginner bike but it isn't very forgiving. The hp/tq numbers might not be might blowing but it's response to throttle input is insane. Also the twitchy power delivery when you go from 0 rpm to throttle input wouldn't be great for a beginner. NVM the price and the fact that you'd probably be overly careful to the point that you wouldn't experiment as much to learn as you would with a $2-3k used bike that you can sell a year later for what you paid for it. You can get away with using it as one but I would recommend against it.

      @@WaffleStomper69 Exactly. I am very surprised people think this is a good beginner bike. And they better be talking about the DCT because learning to ride this manual with its twitchy throttle by wire is just a bad idea. I've never been on a bike that was so easy to whiskey throttle than this one.

  • @WaffleStomper69
    @WaffleStomper69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It is not a good beginner bike. It has a good amount of elements that make a bike a good beginner bike but in totality i wouldn't suggest it. Get a different light bike used for $2-3k that will sell a year later for the same you bought it for and really experiment with it. You want it to be a forgiving bike that you aren't too upset if you damage and is at is depreciation state where it is basically a static value.

    The thing about a beginner bike is that what may be good for one person may not be good for another. The main thing is that you shouldn't buy a bike if you aren't comfortable with it.

    Hi Jeremiah,
    I agree with you. Too much Power for beginner. Everyone should rise as a rider and should ho through 2-3 bikes..... That was also my experience. Those Electronic thinks h elps a lot to hold its Power under control, thats fine.
    I have one question- I saw in many videos , and you did it as well, that a lot od americans drives with high beams..... Could you tell me why please?

    • @therideofalifetime
      @therideofalifetime  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah so I ride with high beams on in the day a lot. It’s more light and if someone is in a car you are more visible it helps a lot.

    Oh my mind is made up... my fiancé and I are gonna save up and both start with the 1100. The benefits outweigh the risks for us, and we know we'll keep them until they full on die. Thank you for an informative video, be safe and as always, have fun.

      @therideofalifetime just sat on the dct model for the first time yesterday, and omg... Aside from the seat and needing risers, it felt like the rebel 1100 was made for me. My fiancé and I are going back to that dealership on Tuesday so she can feel it. All the negatives about the bike, if I drop it, it's my fault and I'll deal with it, the power, rain mode, features other bikes don't have, it's probably be our only bikes. In our minds, it just makes sense to get the bike that has all the things we want, abs, traction control, HUGE aftermarket, reliable... the list goes on, and it fits perfectly. Plus, she's shorter (5'4"), so there's not many options for her. It just makes sense for us, modes to grow with, safety items to, oh I don't know, keep us safe and the endless supply of aftermarket items... it's ideal for us. You were one of many who helped us figure this out.

    • @therideofalifetime
      @therideofalifetime  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TJ-qo2xu dude thank you so much for that. Yeah this winter I’m putting risers on and a new windscreen and a couple things. I’ve dropped mine two times. But I didn’t do really any damage. The first one was from someone else pulling out in front of me and the other was from my kickstand coming up from under me. So the bike is super manageable and easy to use and get familiar with. Rain mode definitely helps break you into the bike nicely. I use rain mode when I’m not trying to go fast and just enjoy the ride.

    • @TJ-qo2xu
      @TJ-qo2xu 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @therideofalifetime that's exactly how I plan to be... sport mode will be a once in a blue moon thing, but mainly standard and rain personally. After a while, who knows, though... but I'm looking forward to it. It's just gonna take a while to get $22K+ for both after the msf course. Living in western NC, though... we have so many nice mountain roads to ride it's perfect.

    i like to look at bikes every now and again. I always look for something strong. I PERSONALLY would say the honda 1100 is a beginner bike. Like 85 hp and 72 ft lbs. thats like a detuned 600. my bike has 185 hp. it is pretty cool
