Sony strongly recommends using the original USB cable to charge the headphones, but the included cable is the shortest cable ever!

Since a lot of people come here looking how to clean them, do not use alcohol to clean them - this includes alcohol pads. Sony’s website says to use soapy water in a rag that’s been tightly wringed out

To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

My XM3 are looking good after 2 years.
I cleaned them using a cotton pad with a little bit of alcohol. It did pick up dirt from the ear pads and I immediately used a soft cloth to absorbe and remove any alcohol that was left on the ear pads
I also left a couple of Silica packs on the case, one for each ear-cup.
I really was concerned about alcohol damaging the materials but maybe it hasn’t done much to any damage since I used it somewhat sparingly.

    • @MrMcgee-me6bu

Not the same device, but this is what sony has said about alcohal and their XM4
      "Cleaning the unit"
"When the outside of the unit is dirty, clean it by wiping with a soft dry cloth. If the unit is particularly dirty, soak a cloth in a dilute solution of neutral detergent, and wring it well before wiping. Do not use solvents such as thinner, benzene, or alcohol, as they may damage the surface."

      @@MrMcgee-me6bu ikr!?
I’ve read that already and I consider myself lucky that I haven’t destroyed my headphones!
My hypothesis is that by using just enough alcohol to disinfect or just enough to break down oils, it didn’t do much damage but take it with a grain of salt, anyone’s mileage may vary...
I recently sold my XM3 and got the XM4 (i wanted different colour, lolz) and I’ve been just doing the wipe with dry soft cloth thing... hopefully they last just as long or longer than my previous pair!

Storing these headphones the way mentioned with these kind of hinges prone to snapping is not a good idea. A headphone stand or even just laying flat on a surface and avoiding the folding is much better as it will put less stress on the hinges over time. I never thought I'd correct Sony themselves on a "care tutorial".

Serious question. I just got my Sony xm4
When sitting next to a fan and using noise cancellation and calling i get wind noise which doesn't happen when noise cancellation is disabled and it's like I'm hearing my surroundings through my mic.
When calling i get a lot of noise from outside like if i can hear the wind noise from the mic which doesn't happen when I'm not calling. I can hear my voice like a double voice when i activate inbuilt Alexa.
Is this happening with you too? Should I replace my headphones as i have 6 days left to do it.
