  • Good news guys, the Proton X70 AWD is back in the fold. After checking out the X70 Premium, which has FWD, we wanted to see how the AWD would fare, especially on the mountain.
    Do watch the video - amd see why I would choose this AWD X70 over the others.

    My family owns a series of SUVs, and as an experienced SUV driver, I'd definitely recommend AWD if you're an enthusiastic driver. Skid less during the rain and definitely can feel the grip during cornering, which the effect is significant when SUVs have a higher centre of gravity. Too bad Proton doesn't fit them into the premium spec, else it's a no-brainer.

    • @BearlyMadSim
      @BearlyMadSim ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@YSKhongDriving It's pretty sad to see this kind of statement, sorry if I misunderstood but it seems to carry the message of choosing to have more premium features like ADAS is stupid.
      Yes, AWD is very useful when things that supposed to grip start to slip especially on this heavy, large SUV. Ultimately, Proton forced their customer to choose, so one has to prioritize one or another; better handling vs an assistant in urban driving. Just because one choose comfort and ADAS, doesn't mean he forget the fundamentals and being stupid. If I know 95% of the mileage of the car is going to be in urban settings, not spirited driving and aiming for comfort, I would definitely appreciate ADAS more. Yes, AWD handles better but driving with Adaptive Cruise Control, a nagger that nags at you when you're off the line, being too close to the vehicle in front like a nervous parent riding with their teenagers driving, all of that alleviate a lot of fatigue issues.
      In the end, it's up to the person who's buying the car which feature they do appreciate more and none of them are inferiors. While I know your background and understands your preference of AWD over ADAS but undermining people who choose ADAS isn't right.
      I wish they equip ADAS on the AWD version so that we don't have to choose.

    • @dx5784
      @dx5784 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @BearlyMad It all ultimately just boils down to how you perceive ADAS. Whether its a necessity or an "okay" feature to have. For me personally, it's definitely the latter.
      I believe Uncle YS intention is not to criticize people for being stupid to choose ADAS over AWD, remember he's just like us ordinary people with a passion towards car. It's his opinion that AWD is the fundamentals, although some might disagree. Some might argue that his experience in the rally scene has contributed to this opinion but there's no right or wrong in having preference over different features, right? TH-cam is all about sharing and being involved in a community, there's no right or wrong when it comes to personal taste and preferences.

    • @BearlyMadSim
      @BearlyMadSim ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dx5784 Pretty sure the intention is not to criticize, but still kind of saddened me to be someone who 'forgot the fundamentals' to choose comfort. Maybe I'm just being snowflakes though.

Then we don't really have any weather that really need awd like winter for example & tbh even 2wd could survive in winter conditions with winter tyre & good traction system. This is a SUV. The pickup-based SUV with full 4wd would be the Fortuner or the Everest, which will cost another RM70k more, at least

    Not sure if it's my imagination, but after watching this video, and comparing with the 1.8T video, it seems that every time when uncle exits the corner, this 1.5T X70 accelerates slower.
    For the 1.8T version, uncle just exit the corner and swoops away, whilst this 1.5T version seems to take its time to accelerate.
    But sadly all the 1.8T videos (Premium, CKD and AWD) only go up to Gotong Jaya, didn't go all the way to the top

    • @YSKhongDriving
