    "So when I say we, I obviously mean Richard.". I laugh each time you say that. Every garden needs a Richard!

    Great video, love your enthusiasm and sense of humour.
    I’m working my way through your videos.

    I really like the obelisk you are using in your garden, Those plants will surely love them too.

    Apart from singing from the same song sheet on many things, in partcular we agree on Blush Noisette, Ghislaine de Felegonde and Alhoa. In my garden - on TH-cam - you'll see my Blush Noisette is just never out of flower, nor is my Mme. Alfred Carriere. Cheers! P.

    Hi Annette!! 😊 I follow several Rosarians and they all say to always plant your climbing roses on the OUTSIDE of your obelisk so you are able to prune and train properly, accessing all the canes, removing diseased, etc and increase the airflow. Train the canes horizontally around the outside as well and always remove the plastic name tag from the cane or that cane will inevitably always die. Just a bit of advice. I love your romantic, cottage style! 😊 Everything is looking so pretty ❤

      Totally agree about planting outside for the above reasons 100%.

      Thanks Deborah, and thank you for taking the time to write with advice. I really do appreciate it.😊 I'm hoping that because we planted the rose very close to the edge of the obelisk that we will still be able to reach the canes for pruning. And I will definitely be training them horizontally but they need to grow a bit first! I really don't want to move the roses so I hope I haven't made a horrible mistake! 😬

    Great video Annette. Funny you should mention you forgot a couple of roses in your recent rose tour as I was thinking, what happened to your new rose Aloha? Question answered. I hope you are as thrilled with it as I hoped you would be. I love mine. I don't remember seeing Rosa koko Loko either, or maybe I missed you showing it as I was in a bit of a dream world thinking about all your gorgeous roses. I wish Centranthus would grow in my garden- I love it because it attracts the humming bird hawk moth, but sadly the plant doesn't like it here. I've tried it in many spots but sadly it just won't thrive. I have 3 Thalictrums in my border. They seem to do very well. A honeysuckle in my garden wasn't supported and it has smothered a white Weigela. I didn't plant the honeysuckle, I think it may be a sucker/or seedling, from my neighbour's garden but it is pretty so I will make a support at the back of the weigela to support it. Your garden is blossoming. Great work. Happy gardening |🙂 x

      Thanks Be. Yes, Koko Loki was in the video. The other rose I forgot was a climber called New Dawn (you can just see it behind the Harlow Carr) and Princess Alexandra of Kent didn't have a single bloom so I couldn't show it. But other than that, I think I managed to include them all. It's only when I do a tour like this that I realise just how many rose we have in the garden!!! 😁🤣

      @@cottoverdi and beautiful they are too. I have 3 New Dawn in my garden- one I bought the other 2 I propagated. I watched the gorgeous roses at Hampton on gardener's World on Thursday night- I am so tempted.

    Hi Annette and Richard, good work on the transplanting the rose and putting out the other plants. This must be a very pleasurable time selecting plants to fill out a lot of areas. Thanks for another great video. X

      Thanks Jimmy, yes, I'm so glad we still have loads of space to fill - and borders to create - there are still so many plants that I want in the garden!!!

    So did I see 4 of those beautiful obelisks that I love so much and did I also see blue woodruff, I never knew there was a blue woodruff. Everything is coming together so nicely, do you have most of your seedlings planted. Richard is such a great help in the garden isnt he. You have some lovely roses blooming and everything is so pretty.

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I know, we're so lucky to have those obelisks but we have waited nearly 10 years for them! All the seedlings are planted except for some very sad looking Zinnias and a few odd perennials and maybe some even sadder strawflowers that might not make it into the borders this year. Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day!!

    Lucky you to have had a heatwave - mini or otherwise! We haven't had any heat here in west Cornwall. The highest temperature we've had so far is 18 deg C. Still waiting for Summer to arrive, and very fed up of sea mists and wild winds. The garden doesn't seem to mind but I'd like to see the sun before I forget what it looks like! Your garden is looking beautiful. I envy you being able to grow so many of the plants that are simply slug bait here. Just goes to show that location is everything.

      Thanks - shame you didn't;t have the warm spell too - but I hear UK will have a warm end to July and possibly heatwaves in August so now I'm panicking about watering the garden all summer! Never satisfied 🤣

    • @KenoraSunset
      @KenoraSunset 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cottoverdi Hopefully you're right about the possible heatwaves, otherwise I might consider moving back to Bucks (I used to live there in the 70's). At least we don't have a hosepipe ban now like we did all last season so your garden will be watered and looking beautiful, I'm sure.

    Ive just ordered two obelisks. Not as grand as your and they will be in containers. Rather nice ones for my front door. My problem is choosing a rose to go in each! There are so many gorgeous ones. My front door is red and i hate it so so much. I cant paint it . What a dilema lol.

    I am new to your videos. Enjoying them very much. I am curious about the name. I googled it and it said cooked greens. Is there another meaning? Thank you.

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Jennifer. No, nothing to do with cooked greens - or Italian ham 🤣. I was actually going to open a business selling pots/containers so the Cotto comes from Terracotta and the Verdi is just 'green'. I kept the name but not the business idea 😁
