Wow! that pergola looks fantastic, love the plants you have chosen.thank you for sharing your garden and thoughts around why you choose specific plants🍀🌻
Hi Annette! I really enjoy watching your channel! Wonderful selection of plants, some of them are matching in my garden. All the best in growing plants in your and your husband's garden! And one more thing - a wonderful cat, such a brave, charismatic companion! From Russia with love)
Hi there! Wow, Russia - that's so fantastic 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼 I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing our cat, Cosmo. He's very young and just loving life in the garden! Thank you for your lovely compliments. 😊

What a great video and what a perfect helper you have!! Must be a complete delight to have a gardening partner. Hello from Canada 🖐 I reallly enjoy your channel 🌿💚
We are being battered by storm Kathleen at the moment so it's good to see an English garden on a normal day! I'm sure that you will treasure your son's plants you got for Mother's Day. As you said, plants are much better than flowers. Cosmo is getting very brave. I was wondering if he got down from the tree by himself and you showed that he did. I like his descending style!
Yes, we got a battering too Wendy. It's been soooo windy recently. Yes, I think it was such a lovely gift - I also asked for a bare root rose for Valentines from Richard, instead of flowers. It's my new favourite gift🤣 Cosmo is going to be so much trouble - he's got no qualms about anything - and he races around the garden - I've never seen a cat run so fast on such short legs 🤣 I though Max was fast, but Cosmo is faster!
oh no Jackie! I wonder what happened. Did you plant it nice and deep? If it had a good root system. it should shoot again. Keep an eye on it and water as necessary. Good luck.
Thanks Ali - yes, it's making us so happy to finally get some of these projects underway - it feels like they've been in the planning for so many years!
Everything is looking great Annette, I can't wait until those climbing roses start to grow and bloom on that beautiful trellis. So many beautiful flowers and that Cosmo is a great help, I thought she was stuck up the tree haha. Have a great week-end.
Thanks Jane. I fell like I'm living on tenterhooks just waiting for everything to grow and bloom! But the roses on the huge archway last year didn't;t grow an enormous amount (I think they were focused on rooting in) so I know I'll have to wait a year or 2 before I have a pergola full of blooms! Cosmo is hysterical - his fur blows around in the wind and then he runs really fast everywhere and he just looks like he's having so much fun. It makes me happy just to watch him enjoying life. 😁
Ah, not bone meal. It's just fertiliser. It's NPK 7-7-7 so completely balanced. I find this is great for when we're planting. Not too much of any one thing. If you live in UK, it's a Westland product called Growmore. Not an Ad etc. Just what we use. amzn.to/49vb7Yv
Hi Elie, thank you, but no, it's still such a mess that I haven't entered it yet but it's definitely something that we hope to be able to do in the future. I just think that there are too many trip hazards at the moment so until we can get some of the paths laid and the 'lawn of weeds' levelled, it wouldn't be a suitable candidate. And apparently we need to have sufficient entertainment for 1/2 hour - I've looked into it already! so we still have some work to do - but it's the journey that counts - our gardens are always a work in progress I think.
I found those beautiful California multi-colored poppies and bought them. Any perennial seeds you can suggest. I have had good germination with Sylvia's, rudbeckia hirta and Sasha daisies.
Oh, so happy you found them - I really hope they are as pretty as they look. I've tried Penstemon this year - only 2 varieties germinated. 😕 Echinacea are good - they seem to be more perennial for me than Rudbeckia and fairly similar flowers - maybe a bit taller. Aquilegia are also easy to germinate. And Yarrow/Achillea is perennial for me.

Annette, is your garden in the Open Garden Scheme? If not, I think you should consider entering it! ❤
