I wholeheartedly 2nd THIS. I’m a seasoned rider (36 years riding exp) and I recently switched to Road 6’s on my 2019 Super Duke. It literally revolutionized the riding experience. Crackin’ tyre. Also, check out anecdotal reports of the longevity of these… some are reporting averages of 8-12K miles.
@@DookeyRidrAnd I wholeheartedly 3rd it, just got a second set on my GS. Got 8k out of my last set and they still had a bit of life in them but off to Germany and I think yo need 1.6mm - the back was on that in the middle. Fab tyres
Hey Mr Flyer, I could actually hear that sweet twin quite nicely in the background. The mic just lets in enough background noise. Perfect sound mix. Love the scenery around these old English villages. I would love to drop into the Queens Head for a pint.
Fitted road 6’s on my current 2023 triumph Street RS… glad I did. So much better in the rain and i don’t feel like I’m loosing out on the Supercorsas in the dry either. Excellent tires!
Had to slow down to .25 speed to help my pausing skills; but I got there! Also got these tyers today, could immdeatily feel the difference. Many thanks as always for your work.
I fitted Road 6's to my Triumph Speed Twin two months ago, 3,000 miles later they have transformed the bike. Where previously when fitted with the OEM Metzeler Racetec RR K3's the ride was harsh and uncomfortable, also scary in the wet, it is now far more comfortable and the Road 6's give great confidence on all roads in all conditions. I also have the Road 6's on a BMW R1250GS and longevity is supurb; they have covered 10,000 miles mostly touring with pillion and luggage and the front tyre still has 2mm and the rear the best part of 5mm remaining. Enjoy the new tyres.
I suggest you visit a suspension specialist. I had just started track days on my Ducati Monster S2R1000, and quickly realized I needed new tires. So I had a pair of top Pirellis fitted and it made a huge difference, a very big improvement. Then I went to the racers favorite suspension tuner, who fitted "gold valves" and new springs to the fork, and new springs to the rear shock. That was a revelation - and at least as big an improvement as the tires had been the week before. I could drop down inside other riders all over the track. On road riding did get stiffer, by maybe a third. But, I had been looking for track performance. The tuner can set you up with smooth handling with the correct sag for better handling. Go to the specialist.
I just wanted to say I just got a 2024 Bonneville T120 Stealth edition in the blue. Finally got my dream bike. Looking forward to many happy years with it.
I've had a lot of tyres on my bikes over 43 years of road riding. The change to a new profile is always noticeable, the tip in is always different and normally very much for the better !
Thanks for sharing. Have the speed twin 2023 and replaced rear shocks with Nitrons and transformed the bike handling. Also added Ohlins steering damper and this also tightened the bike handling. Have another 1-2k for the tires. Have the MR6 on my other bike, amazing handling especially on various weather. Cheers
Good choice Andy. I am just about to fit my 7th set. The GS eats tyres so I have my local tyre fitter on speed dial. I also put a pair on my Thruxton and they are a better all round tyre for it than the OEM tyres that did not like the wet.
Thanks for another enjoyable video. As an alternative to Ohlins, you might consider rear shocks by YSS. I added them to my '21 Speed Twin 1200, and they improved the ride and handling significantly. The YSS shocks are fully adjustable, look better than the chunky OEM's, and for substantially less money than the Ohlins. If only I could figure out how to include a photo in this comment.
As you maybe aware Nitron do fork internals and rear shocks for the 1200 Speed Twin. Just fitted Road 6's to my Multistrada V4S. Can't wait to try them out!
I have installed Nitrons both front and rear on my 2019 Speed Twin. Greatly improved front end performance (significantly reduced nose dive from braking) and feels more planted and confident in the corners.
Hi Andy great bonus video, you mentioned getting your suspension upgraded by a specialist, that’s what I did with my street triple r, I used MCT a very well known suspension specialist with a very well deserved reputation for great work down here in suffolk, it made such a big difference to my bike
Got Road 6s on the MT10. Excellent choice if a little on the expensive side. I struggled to notice much difference between the older Michelin Road 5 and 6 other than price.
I binned those Michelins on my Zed and went for Pirelli MT60 pretend-knobbly. Relevant, because like you say, tyres can alter a bike. My Zed is a million times better now, and I certainly don't tip-toe as much in the wet. I don't go fast enough to get them too hot, plus the roads where I live are shite. They felt really skatey to me. My mate Pad has a Speed Twin with loud pipes on. Sounds ace. I test rode one before getting my Scrambler 1200, but it felt too small at the time, hence the Scrambler. Keep up the good work. :)
Metzeler tourance are also really good pretend off-road tyres. Really sticky and displace loads of water when it's wet. Cope with fire roads and sand well but wouldn't fancy my chances in mud 😅
Lovely little extra video, on what is very quickly becoming my new favourite bike. Just love the burbling sound from the exhaust, which is audible enough on your videos. Also pleased to hear that you still go on trips/rides just for yourself too. As much as I enjoy your filming, you need to relax and have some 'you' time.
Love your vlog ….Ha very interesting !! I’ve got a 2020 speed twin had Rosso 3 s on mine too and just changed to road 6 at 4250 miles what an amazing difference The issue with the old tyres was the bike just didn’t want to turn in on corners ( it never used to Be like this ) I am sure after 4 years they go a bit hard and combined with wear feathering on the front plus a slight step!! Plus a slight flat on the back one I was beginning to think it was a suspension issue I love my Triumph it’s a keep bike … just sold my Ducati Multistrada V2S after 2 years 6750 miles loved it but replaced it with new S1000XR I have only done 100 miles on it just an amazing bike to ride keep up the good work hope the shoulder gets better soon , Ash
Tyres change shape as they wear on bikes, so yes - new tyres can make a huge difference to feel even if not in outright grip. I usually change because a flat or step has formed even though tread is still relatively good
Thanks for the heads Andy, I'm going to need new tyres on my Speed Twin soon, and I've been considering either Michelin Road 6s, or Dunlop Mutants, so to hear your comments on the Road 6s is very confidence inspiring.
I currently have the Road 5s and love them! They are a huge improvement on the Rosso III's I had previously. Can't wait to try the 6s when mine wear out.

Excellent little bonus video there Andy, thanks. I do have to say having 'sat' on the Triumph and listened to that beautiful background burble why on earth do you need any other bike, excluding Goldie of course, for pottering around on? It is a gem and think of the garage space and insurance savings you could make by trimming those unnecessary luxurious hangers on that you house!! 🙂🙃🙂😂
Great to see the new Michelin Road 6’s in the Speed Twin I’m sure your handling will be vastly improved. And I had your video on in my car and the Triumph sounded fantastic so you sound kit is working well 👍👍thanks for the video 😊😊
Got the 6’s GT on my new Tracer 7 GT, what a great tyre they are. Mostly ridden in the dry except when returning to South Devon from Buxton where we were based for 4 nights, it tipped it down. Really confidence inspiring tyres and after 2,000 miles absolutely no sign of any wear, will replace them with the same when the time comes. Love the exhaust note on your bike.
Nice one TMF , thinking of changing my 701 for speed twin , so I can travel a bit further , if I have set of tyres on my bike and they feel good I tend to keep the same make each time I change , but tyres are all a lot better since the days of the o.e. Tyres being pretty rubbish most are plenty good enough nowadays , once they start squaring off its defo soon time for a change . The bike sounds great by the way .👍👍
I fitted road 5 to my 22 plate NC750X and it's made a big difference...then I have just upgrade the suspension front and rear with Hyperpro shock and springs....totally transformed the bike. So...go for the suspension upgrade Andy :-) cheers for the bonus vid
@@Bryan11210 unfortunately I crashed my bike recently, but while it was in the repair shop (insurance) I asked them to fit my upgraded suspension while they did the other work. They (4 Dimension, Woking) did an excellent job on the repairs and fitting of suspension parts. They charged me £210 plus VAT.
The OEM pirellis on my mid 2019 Speed Twin lasted until late 2023 , with about 5,500 miles on the clock . I got some Metzler Roadtec SE01. MCN's Neevesy raved about them ! Since I knew naff all about tyres, I got them . They seem okay. I guess I'm talentless, or maybe just don't ride enough bikes often enough, they seem to handle very similar to the OEM pirellis !
Tyre pressure is one thing to consider aswell. It often says one thing on the tyre and another in the manual. Find the one that suits your kind of riding. One of the best I've had was the Avon Spirit. Are these M6 better? Thank you mr Flyer!
I had the dealership put Road 6's on my new NX500 i git a few weeks ago--2000km on it so far and i can report the Road 6 tires incredible. Handling wise they fall over easily and are very sticky and in the rain they are like on rails...love these tires
Thanks, Andy, for sharing this with us. I have a question for the group out there. What kind of milage are you getting out of the Road 6s. I have a friend who always runs Michelin tires. He loved the Road 5s for their performance in the wet, but he said they tend to wear fast when the weather warms up. He was commuting year-round (in the Pacific Northwest) on a Ninja 1000. And yes, I do realize tire wear has a lot to do with motorcycle there mounted on and how its ridden. So, the real question is for those who ran Road 5s and switched to Road 6s, are you seeing an improvement in the milage. Thanks
I'll be getting the 6's when I need new boots for my TS660. I have always had the Michelins since I put PR2's on my Explorer and then 3's and 4's. I have 5's on the TS660.
That’s right it was a departure from owning Yamaha’s for me. A sort of patriotic move. Went straight back to MT10 SP. Does everything a high days and holidays bike should do. I even like the looks 😂
Morning nice bonus, Bike sounds great. Nice to see the Triumph out and about. I hear recommended MC tire life is 5 years something to do with compounds ect.
Hi Andy Have the road six fitted to all my bikes really notice the difference in the way the machine handles Anyway you can't go wrong when you have a Nigel looking after you gear Regards Nigel Thomas from Tasmania 😊
May I ask what part of Wales you are visiting? Don't forget we have a 20mph limit here now....be careful coz plod will get ya!!!! In the 80's, 90's and into the 00's Mich bike tyres were terrible, so for decades I used various other premium brands. However, after reading rave reviews a few years ago about big improvements with Michelin bike tyres I decided to give them another go, and so glad I did. Mega edge grip, offering supreme confidence, predictable turn-in (on the sporty side of neutral), very compliant carcass.....Mich are now my preferred bike tyre brand.
Interesting that when you spec a new Speed Twin , Triumph don’t offer the Fox shock upgrade or grab rail/mini rack options as per the T120. Not sure why that is.
Odd that you get "tipping in" when your tyres get worn. I get the exact opposite - when the central band gets flat, the bike resists tipping in. Having said that, the profile of the michelins versus the pirellis is exactly as you describe - the michelins are a much shallower curve.
In my case, I bought TKC70s thinking on-road performance would suffer compared to the Pirelli Phantom Comps I had before, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the Contis were better both on and off-road. In my case, it was definitely not in my head!
I just got these fitted today. I moved from a pair of BT-023's on the wear bar and properly squared. I came up to my first corner and these tyres just tipped in and wanted to turn so nicely, it was such a strange feeling compared to my car tyre BT-023's. It's strange when you say they didn't feel like they were tipping in? Mine feel like they want to corner for you.
The Road 6 has a much smoother steering feel imo, but if coming from something that tips easily, they do initially feel like they're flat/riding through a ditch. Found this exact feeling when I went from M9RRs to the Road 6 on my S1000R - but a few rides and I was dialed in. Love the Road 6 though, they are imo the best road tyre in the went - I've been able to apply the same hard braking on a set of M50s in the wet, as in the dry
Have had road 5s on a couple of my bikes and I have to say that they are the best tires I’ve ever used imo Shame they don’t make them in a 21” Front or I would have them on this bike like a shot Hope the shoulder get sorted Andy
Feel for you about the shoulder surgery I go to the surgeon tomorrow about my back and in September I’m having a total knee replacement surgery stay well Mr flyer
I have Pirelli Angel GT on my NC700X and find them very confidence inspiring on corners. Just starting to get a bit of a shoulder after 10,500 miles / 2 years. Time for some new boots at the service next month. Not sure the Road 6 would be better performance and mileage wise, and last time I checked they cost a bit more. Got to watch the pennies now I'm retired don't you know.
I think 5 years is about it for Moto tires, I just bought a used 2017 GS Adventure with 7000 miles on it but the tires themselves were 7 years old. They looked alright tread wise but the age on them made me change immediately (especially given I bought the bike to bring my wife on rides, the super duke doesn't quite cut it:)) Enjoy your new tires, new tire day is always one of my favorite for any machine.
Currently riding the Picos de Europa on a Speed Twin fitted with Road 6s - highly recommend. Apart from the range, a great bike for touring - so much easier on the tight hairpins than the GS.
Riding in the dry on road most tyres will work well, when it’s wet tread pattern and hardness of rubber make a difference. Should say I’m yet to find a tyre that cope with white lines or road paint in the wet yet.
A good set of tires make all the difference. I will try Road 6 when a new set is required. What silencers do you have on the Speed Twin? I don't recall a video about them. Cheers.😊
Good idea to upgrade your suspension, I heard that progressive springs are very good, Road 6 good choice 👍🏍️. My shoulder is still painful, just bought a DNA filter for my Classic 350 , did about 60 miles yesterday , went to a bikers cafe just outside Bridgenorth great bunch they encouraged me as that’s was the furthest I had ridden . Also fitted a heel and toe gear changer, a lot better changing gear. Something I find hard is the weight of the gear I wear, it’s so heavy lol.
My CB1000R was supplied with Pirelli Rosso tyres, and find they just don’t communicate with me and the road. Michelin Pilots have always been my go to preference, and you know what’s coming from this…. Good to see you doing a bit more on your own bikes again.
This is only my opinion I have no connection to them but I have now fitted three Nitron rear shocks to my last three bikes and Nitron front fork valves. I have on another bike used Ohlins for the front forks and the Nitron in my view was better quality than the Ohlins cartridges. They will still take a month to build them but they are made in England and will be built to your spec. As for the Michelins. I have the Road 5 on mt BMW and I really rate them.
Whem you do suspension do it right. Get springs for your riding weight and possible luggage. Gront and rear. Then when installed set the sag properly. Little help is good. I have Ohlins on some of mine great difference. Tractive, Wilburs Ikon all have good components. But you need to get the correct springs when get them. Buy them once. It will make a day nite difference. Total new motorcycle like should have been from the factory to begin with. Safe rides
Thanks Mr. Flyer. Your Speed Twin is looking and sounding lovely. I'm not sure whether 10 miles is enough to "scrub in" new rubber?? and I think on those roads you need a trials bike rather than new tyres lol. Hopefully I shall be able to ride my bike soon and maybe I'll try to get a ride on a twin myself soon after. Ride safe and always enjoy. :>)
That Triumph has a fantastic sound, are the pipes stock? I know what you mean about the bike tipping, slightest flat spot on my KTM and it feels like you are gonna fall of the edge of the flat spot on every corners. Tyres don't need to be worn to be replaced, the age can be a factor too, you were quite right to change them mate.
I've ran power 6 on my K6GSXR 1000 and when getting fitted a fella left the tyre centre and binned it giving it a bit of a handful not even 100 yards on a KTM R8 ,,so scrubbing in is necessary 👍☘️😁😊😊😊 from northern Ireland
I've been fitting Diablo Rosso 2s then 3s on my Street Triple 675. I've recently reverted back to 2s...however new tyres are a joy are they not... like you observed the difference is noticable immediately, especially if the old tyres have developed a flat area...
Now a Road6 convert (from S22). Big fan of the Road6. Haven't had anything else on my bikes for a while now. But got an MXR coming next week and Michelin don't do a 200 rear Road6. Neither do Bridgestone on the S22/S23. What would you recommend instead? Think it comes with Power6. Would you advise against mix and matching i.e. Road6 front and something else rear? Won't be going on track so I think sports touring tyres are the way forward for year round performance on less than perfect UK tarmac.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks for getting back to me! I'll have a think. Thanks for the excellent content over the years! I always look forward to watching your videos.

Alan Turin by Dominic Cumberband 😅😂. Love the Road 6, have them on my R1250R this year and it grips so much better - really added such drive, so confidence inspiring in the twisties and the wet. Will just need to see the mileage I can get out of them!

Good review, thinking of putting these tyres soon on my speed twin 900
Had exactly the same tipping in issue on my 1050 Tiger sport. Put the road 6’s on and sorted👍
That Bonneville rumble is so sweet. And good choice, the Road 6, I’m running them on My Super Duke R.
Andy, obviously mine is a personal one. But I have only used Michelin for years.. From the Road 4 to the current 6.. Fantastic tyre..
I put some Hagon shocks on the rear of my T100 Bonneville, huge difference 😊
I have used Hagon twin and mono shocks for years, great performance for the money!
Great to see the new Michelin Road 6’s in the Speed Twin I’m sure your handling will be vastly improved. And I had your video on in my car and the Triumph sounded fantastic so you sound kit is working well 👍👍thanks for the video 😊😊
My pleasure!
Glad to see you have your mirrors the correct way round 😊
Always!

They look wrong to me...!
Cheers - me too 😉
Nice one TMF , thinking of changing my 701 for speed twin , so I can travel a bit further , if I have set of tyres on my bike and they feel good I tend to keep the same make each time I change , but tyres are all a lot better since the days of the o.e. Tyres being pretty rubbish most are plenty good enough nowadays , once they start squaring off its defo soon time for a change . The bike sounds great by the way .👍👍
Thanks!
I fitted road 5 to my 22 plate NC750X and it's made a big difference...then I have just upgrade the suspension front and rear with Hyperpro shock and springs....totally transformed the bike. So...go for the suspension upgrade Andy :-) cheers for the bonus vid
Morning! Do you have the DCT version? Any thoughts?
@@simonthomas5367 yes :-)
I want to upgrade the suspension on mine so much, but I don't trust just any shop or dealer to set it correctly. I'd do it myself if I had a garage.
@jaffamaddin My pleasure as always!
I highly recommend you try Nitron shocks for the bike.
Great product, made for your riding style, weight etc.
Made a big difference on my R nine t.
Yes I might have a look at those….
Brilliant tyres, mileage and grip in all conditions is outstanding.
Changed my front and rear suspension on my 2020 Speed Twin to Nitron. Completely transformed the bike and the service from Nitron was impeccable.
Yes they get rave reviews don't they....will look into them....
Tyre pressure is one thing to consider aswell. It often says one thing on the tyre and another in the manual. Find the one that suits your kind of riding.
One of the best I've had was the Avon Spirit. Are these M6 better?
Thank you mr Flyer!
I had those Michelins on My ST3R and they were my favorite tires.
I had the dealership put Road 6's on my new NX500 i git a few weeks ago--2000km on it so far and i can report the Road 6 tires incredible. Handling wise they fall over easily and are very sticky and in the rain they are like on rails...love these tires
I have the Breitling with ohlins as standard and they are superb
Do you know what Ohlins they are out of interest?
@@TheMissendenFlyerI’m not sure because it’s at my dealers at the moment because they are selling it for me, contact a triumph dealer they will know 👍
I’ve got them on both my bikes, very confidence inspiring, good choice
Thanks
Yes indeed, lovely sound! Is the exhaust just standard with Vance and Hines or have you done a decat? Keep up the good work.
It’s had the decat….
Hi Andy
Have the road six fitted to all my bikes really notice the difference in the way the machine handles
Anyway you can't go wrong when you have a Nigel looking after you gear
Regards Nigel Thomas from Tasmania 😊
Nice one Nige!
On suspension: recommend the front- and rearend upgrade from Wilbers.
Those bar ends ROCK
In my case, I bought TKC70s thinking on-road performance would suffer compared to the Pirelli Phantom Comps I had before, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the Contis were better both on and off-road. In my case, it was definitely not in my head!
Fantastic noise from those twin pipes 😎👍🥰
Isn’t it!
They just feel darned good in comparison to my old tyres where the profile had gone off....
Just about to get these fitted to my r1250gs next Thursday. Can’t wait to try them.
Good choice!
Have had road 5s on a couple of my bikes and I have to say that they are the best tires I’ve ever used imo
Shame they don’t make them in a 21”
Front or I would have them on this bike like a shot
Hope the shoulder get sorted Andy
Thank you Trevor!
Feel for you about the shoulder surgery I go to the surgeon tomorrow about my back and in September I’m having a total knee replacement surgery stay well Mr flyer
Thank you - best of luck for tomorrow!
Andy - what really helps with shoulder (or any other place) issues is working out. Lifting.
No kidding.
Sadly my shoulder is such that I can't even lift a full kettle! But yes I agree exercise is a good thing!
Agreed!
Currently riding the Picos de Europa on a Speed Twin fitted with Road 6s - highly recommend. Apart from the range, a great bike for touring - so much easier on the tight hairpins than the GS.
That's for sure!
Riding in the dry on road most tyres will work well, when it’s wet tread pattern and hardness of rubber make a difference. Should say I’m yet to find a tyre that cope with white lines or road paint in the wet yet.
Yes me too!
Road 6’s are a superb. Got these on my VFR800 6th Gen. Just replaced the rear after 12k 👌
Wow - some mileage!
A good set of tires make all the difference. I will try Road 6 when a new set is required. What silencers do you have on the Speed Twin? I don't recall a video about them. Cheers.😊
They are factory fitted options from Vance and Hines (don't think Triumph offer them any more)....
Tell me about it!
Yes I might have another look at the Nitrons….
I have the older Road 5s on my Aprilia Tuono, the best tyres I've had on a bike in 25 years, great grip and last for ages.
It is probably over kill but I have them on my KTM 390 duke and I love them !!
Cool!
Safe rides
Nice one Andy.. yes you can hear the bike ok ....sounds glorious by the way....
Thanks 👍
Road6 is my preferred choice, very good in all conditions and the cheapest option when you consider mileage.
Thanks Mr.
Cheers - and no the pipes are factory fit optional Vance and Hines Triumph used to do…
The Road 6 tyres are fab. Great in both the wet and dry :)
Maybe that was nothing to do with scrubbing in though, maybe just a bit of an erratic rider?
The Triumph DOES sound lovely!
It does!
What a Bike eh - I bought a 2023 model after your posts etc .
Such a hoot to ride
Glad you like it!
I've been fitting Diablo Rosso 2s then 3s on my Street Triple 675. I've recently reverted back to 2s...however new tyres are a joy are they not... like you observed the difference is noticable immediately, especially if the old tyres have developed a flat area...
Yes the degradation creeps up on you and you don’t realise what you’re missing.
I wouldn’t mix and match, but to be honest, I don’t know enough about Tyres and their size availability to recommend anything to you.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Thanks for getting back to me! I'll have a think. Thanks for the excellent content over the years! I always look forward to watching your videos.
I still want that exact bike, color and year ❤
I really do like the speed twin it’s a bike that I’d like to own.
Try obsession engineering for your suspension they have a TH-cam channel and a British super bike team.
Alan Turin by Dominic Cumberband 😅😂. Love the Road 6, have them on my R1250R this year and it grips so much better - really added such drive, so confidence inspiring in the twisties and the wet. Will just need to see the mileage I can get out of them!
Sorry to hear about the shoulder hope 3rd time lucky. Love the triumph.I’ve done 8000 miles on my tyres bikes are 4 years old will definitely need replacement next year I calculate extra 3000 miles left.
Wow you e done well!
