If your social security benefits are "suspended" the only way to resume them is to go to your local office. You also wouldn't get a phone call, but a letter in the mail explaining the reason your benefits are suspended.
Depending the region, SSA offices are currently appointment- only, so you'll have to call the administrative line (which will be on the letter sent to them) or the national information line to segue to their branch office for phone-service or to make contact and schedule an appointment (whether in person or on the phone is up to the SSA office/ staff). On point otherwise.
my favorite part is that they don't even say benefits. They say your SSN will be suspended...like sorry there is no mechanism in existence to 'suspend' or eliminate the number itself.
Hearing people like this elderly man being confused by these monsters really hits home. My 90 year old, widowed Grandmother was getting somewhere in the realm of TWENTY fake/scam calls a day. For any families who are worried, there are services where you can have their calls forwarded to your phone first so you can be the one to pick up the scam calls. It's incredibly annoying, but I'd rather be the one picking up those calls.
@@WiscoKnight0806 A.J.'s 90 year old grandmother would probably benefit the most from such a thing, since she'd be dealing with the same operators at the answering service every time she needed to. Old folks need familiarity and trust. All people do, really.
For my grandma's house phone we used the nuclear option and literally blocked ALL incoming calls except for 30 phone numbers I programmed in. Spectrum has it as one of their voice options. Basically it's an approved number list. I've got relatives, friends, doctors, pharmacy, etc programmed as allowed and all other incoming calls are blocked. I can turn it off if we're expecting an unusual number to call. You should see if your grandma's phone service also has these kind of options. It's nice knowing I can block all scammers but her legit calls will get through.

Fantastic, Jim. Bless you for your work. Might I suggest, when they ask what they should do if the scammers call back, the thing to stress is, "DO NOT speak with them. Just HANG UP." Because the elderly (speaking from experience, late parents, late uncle), easily get sucked into conversations, where the scammer can really work on their psyche, scare them badly, threaten them with ruin, etc, etc, exactly as you've shown many times. Jim's videos can be the result of months of work and investigation. He also mentioned that when they had the video call, the other team were working on gettin gthe "inside man" out to safety. Generally they do, they always mention not to give up your social. It’s kinda common sense, well it should be anyway. Besides if there was an incident regarding fraud, your social probably wouldn’t be the issue, it would probably be someone using your bank details, so your bank would call you.

If your social security benefits are "suspended" the only way to resume them is to go to your local office. You also wouldn't get a phone call, but a letter in the mail explaining the reason your benefits are suspended.
86 year old man won't remember that. Much less what he had for breakfast this morning.
But what if "the rules changed", humanity and rules are constantly changing
Most very important stuff are received in your postbox, not on your email or your phone.
my favorite part is that they don't even say benefits.
For my grandma's house phone we used the nuclear option and literally blocked ALL incoming calls except for 30 phone numbers I programmed in. Spectrum has it as one of their voice options. It's a good day when Jim Browning posts. I love your content.
Thank you TGWYTs
Wow. This is stunning footage. Thank you and Trilogy Media. I hope you close the thieves down. I do hope that these young men are protected. He is very brave to come forward. The persistence in calling and lying to these seniors is stomach turning….
I really got mad during this one, listening to that tired lady trying to remain polite with him while having to deal with his threats.
@Aluzky they’ll call with another phone number that’s why she said she was tired. Once you pick up it’s over. One time I picked up an apple scam for fun and they kept calling me multiple times a day for a few weeks until they finally gave up.
Jim, I don't think it's a good idea to reveal this kid's face on the internet. There are atrocities that happen in third world countries for a lot less than outing your boss on the internet. I live in Mexico, and if there was any information about an individual speaking out against certain *things* happening in the country, they might be in a bodybag the next day. Remember that this kid is affecting their employer's income heavily by taking this stance, and he isn't afforded the same protections that you may have in first world countries.
@@Kleines97 same bruh I was like thinking of all the possibilities those damn scammer bosses might do to him
I think they'll probably realize who ratted them out eventually. I hope this kid get protection from the local law enforcement, or at least help to get away from such horrible people
Yeah, at least blurring his face would have done something. I'm concerned for this kid.
I'm sorry but what's the worst that this guy have to worry about by exposing some fat, dumb, school drop out's scammers? You guys are making them sound like the frickin cartels or KGB, not some broke ass morons who can't pronounce Desktop properly.
@@Bahraini_CarguyIf inside man already reveal, then there are no inside man to expose them further.
Jim, you’re a legend. Thank you for all that you do❤️
It's so sad when you hear victims asking the same questions over and over, like "who am I talking to? Oh, right...", because you know it's a cognitive problem. They need to rely on others not to take advantage of their disability and there isn't anything they can do about it.
I once got a call from these people and I pressed one and I just asked them “What’s my name? If you really are Social Security you’ll know what my name is” and they hung up immediately
When I worked for the census I'd get calls on my government phone and when they started their spiel I'd say, "I am an employee of the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT."
They'd hang up so fast, lol
@@grumpyotter ,
I said I worked for a Superior Court judge, returning a call from them.
The scammer apologized profusely for calling the “wrong number”.
I recorded the whole thing on an older device. They seem to fear our authorities.
@@beachgirl4583 Oooh, good one!
This was awesome.. thank you Jim.
Coming from a family who’s grandfather fell victim to scammers, I appreciate your work Jim!!
We need more people like Jim and huge respect to people who fight those scammers every single day.
Yo I started tearing up as soon as Jim said "I got in touch" Im not crying u are.
I feel so awful for that American woman who gets spammed. Imagining that was my Gran broke my heart.
I feel so bad for people who aren't graced by this man's help. He is the youtube Spiderman. Friendly neighborhood scam buster. He does his best and we are all in debt to his efforts. Thank you!
Thank you so much for helping that older gentleman, he worked hard his whole life, no one should ever be able to just take it away!
"How come you don't speak English good" - Classic .
The people who turn against these scammers are real heroes.
Great work Jim 💯💯👍👍
I showed your videos to my dad, and now he answers every scam call he gets and messes with them. its hilarious
Well, you gotta have a hobby.
