It is all original paint, the Japanese market had the Walter Wolf RG400 and RG500 in 1986 with colors like the Canadian model. In 1987 the Japanese market only Walter Wolfs came in these colors with the RG400 having Walter Wolf Racing on the belly pan and the RG500 with "500" on the belly pan.
The original front wheel is 16" and the current wheel is 17". It raised the front higher so the forks needed to be adjusted to make it closer to the stock height.
Cool!!..sounded so sweet!...These are good ol' sport bikes,..straight out of moto gp. I've got one also and looking forward restoring it to "Racing Form" as my very own "Track Day' toy! Sure hope that this one still is well taken care of 'cause they are rare! If you tune them good,they don't have to necessarily smoke so much..but,..under tune and the motor is toast!...If you've ridden one,you know just how fun they are to ride!...a nice high-performance "Motorcycle" feel and experience!....v('_ ')
GR8 choice, go all out and boost the engine size as its already stupid fast as a stock machine. I ride an HD Night train since 2011 and love it. I have an RZ 500 since new. Been sitting for about 12 years, time to rebuild and enlarge the motor for tons of fun and speed. Good luck with the restoration and enjoy.

I had the Yamaha RZ 500 but I much rather have the Suzuki I t was the closest to a real GP Racer that you can buy for the street

Nice bike!! How far did you lower the forks? I am at 2 cm now at my RG500 but yours look much further, does it effect steering a lot?
