    Told you I'd get round to your video some point. At least it's not 500 miles later.
    Looks great and love the idea of hiding imperfections with the texturing. May have to give texturing a go myself soon.

    Close-up pictures always reveal the beauty of texture and color. Had I not watched this video and only saw the pictures I would’ve thought you used a torch to burn the rim. Another beautiful piece of art. Thanks for sharing.

    After the beaten of wood worms it comes very nice piece well done Stewart take care about the worms because they can cause a lot of trouble in the workshop and you will lose a lot of the wood, treat it before the worms move all around. Bye Stewart looking forward for the next video bye till now bye.

    That's a keeper! The tricks of light are subtle but effective. (Sorry about the "S" word.) The brush work was well done, a nice light touch to keep the black in the deeper textures.
    And I'm sure the worms are jealous of how fast you can get through wood with that tool.

    That's a real nice save from a worm infested piece of wood. I once turned a piece of carobwood and had a warm crawl out when I stop the lathe quite fascinating. However the warm was not impressed.

    Beautiful job! Brilliant. How would you approach applying lacquer after the centers been turned already? Tape of the center be for you spray?

    • @stewartfurini
      @stewartfurini  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Kevin. I prefer to wax the wooden interior so if I put lacquer on the rim after the middle has been turned out I would re-sand the wood. Masking it off to protect from the lacquer is a bit fiddly and irksome! Cheers!

    Awesome work Stewart - as always. One of these days I am going to get up the courage to try colour!! Have a piece on the lathe right now that could be a candidate. Like you say - if I don't like it, a minute or two with a bowl gouge takes me right back to bare wood!! My wife is all about "no colour" - but she is not home right now. I will let you know, thanks again for sharing. Dennis

    Thanks for sharing the techniques on this piece. Great result.
    Hopefully Mr. Woodworm and his fellow family members has vacated the Furini residence.
    The piece in the beginning was an interesting design and colour in the background. Are you going to do another video on how you did that?
    Take care my friend and stay safe and well

      Thanks, Brian - glad you like it. The cutter is either a Rotarex 50mm mini circular sawblade, or an Arbortech one. The Arbortech ones seem impossible to find at the moment. I'll be doing a Proxxon video very soon taking a closer look at it and the cutters it can use.

    I like the cross texture you added this time. And the colors work well together in sheen form. Very subtle on camera. Guessing more distinct in person. Will it get the cost of clear lacquer? Or is it destined for another spin on the lathe and the gouge?
