Seeds of Life - a portrait of Alonsa Guevara

Visiting Alonsa Guevara in her Catskill Mountains home is like entering a mystical, beautiful world where nature plays the main part.
Her Clique proudly presents The Chilean painter's first ever limited edition, which consists of digital prints of paintings depicting a kiwi, a pomegranate and a clementine, from the artist's Fruit Portraits series.
The fruits are presented from the inside to symbolize desire, fecundity and fertility. Through the universality of the human relationship to foods, Guevara aims to connect audiences from different walks of life, as each fruit brings specific memories of distinctive scents and unique locations where it has been eaten, triggering all the complex emotions we attach to taste.
The artist's work blurs the lines between reality and fantasy while celebrating the connection between humankind and nature, with a big part of her inspiration fueled by her childhood memories of life in the Ecuadorian rainforest, where she lived with her family, having moved there from Chile.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit low-income international students at the New York Academy of Art.
