The moto has the snapdragon 808 which performs slightly worse, but instead has features such as stereo front facing speakers, QHD display, fast charging, water resistance, and has microsd slots. If you only want to play demanding games on your phone one+2 is the way to go, but personally I would get a better experience from the moto x pure

For some reason, the lack of NFC is just killing me. I don't always use it just like some of the other miscellaneous features on some phones, but I definitely love having the options ._. (same with splash proof, NFC, wireless charging, etc.)
Oneplus Two user here. About the phone camera, today I just updated the phone to a newer version of oxygen 2.0. Camera app has been improved on, switching between camera modes just became a lot more natural, and at the same time Oneplus have added a manual mode where you can adjust manual focus, exposure, shutter, and stuff like that. Feels way better than the mess it was.
There is only one speaker (right grill) and a mic (left grill). Also I don't think Linus did it justice when he said premium feeling, it's pretty much the best you can get if you get a "style swap" back along with it. The kevlar one I got has a really nice "soft" feeling to it and the metal rim is really nice. I dropped mine unfortunately while getting out of a jeep (what you'd call a 4x4, not the make) and it landed on tarmac, no screen damage thanks to the plastic screen protector already included, and the only damage was to the black plastic which holds the glass. One thing to note is that it's surprisingly heavy in comparison to bigger phones like the note which also have a metal rim. Overall much more premium than the OPO and I plan on keeping it for a long time!
I have the oneplus 2 but a huge problem for me was the heat, the metal bezels heated up so fast and actually got surprisingly hot for games such as clash of clans. I still think its a great budget phone but the heating was actually something that made me put it down for a while between uses.

Its cheaper, has a micro SD slot, and although it has an Intel CPU, there is no noticeable difference in power usage if i compare it to an S5/6 or an iPhone 6. I don't really get why everyone raves about the OP2, when many other smartphones match or beat the specs and pricing.

View Finder got fixed in last OTA Update, give it a try. Now in Camera-App the phone detects its orientation even if Auto-Rotation of the Screen is turned off. This helps a lot.

I got my OPO the other day. I wasn't too impressed with the minor changes in the OPT, and I'm glad I didn't waste my money on it, because this OPO is frickin' amazeballs!
Although i'm a huge fan of OnePlus, I really respect linus's honest opinions, and how unbiased he is in his reviews, when compared to a "traditional" review channel.
What I can say for the device is that One Plus didn't made the Fingerprint Scanner as a physical button, and NFC wasn't included because most of the people didn't use so they can cut from the price and upgrade a few things. But making a SD card slot instead of the dual SIM card slot would really make it a "Flagship Killer"

Finally, i good review of the OnePlus 2 explaining the bad stuff about it... It is a flagship killed where I am from where both the Nexus 6P and Moto X Style are around 650€+ where the OTP is 389€. It is a bit of a compromise as I would've preferred front facing speakers & quick charge, but wireless speakers & a power bank can help me out in times of need.

I bought the OnePlus 1 a few months back, when they took down the invite system for it. Some time later, they announced the OnePlus 2, but looking at it now, i don't feel i have a piece of equipment that has been surpassed... I see the OP2 more like a OP1.5 ... I mean, USB TypeC and -very- slightly higher specs? Over losing NFC? And quick-charging? (And Cyanogen, but i guess that goes according to taste.) Apart from that it's very much the same experience, so i'm pretty damn happy with my OP1 and i saved a couple of euros too. Yay.
I have a OPO, full regret. There have been so many issues with this thing. Both in hardware design (screen ground) and software (depending on ROM/version: nonfunctional mics, GPS unable to lock, WiFi, LTE, 3G, 2G radio issues, frequent crashes, overheating, battery drain, etc...) Just switched to a custom ROM from the nightlies this weekend and it's been working better. Almost as well as originally with 4.4 but with all the workarounds for the defective touchscreen which makes it mostly usable. The lack of NFC on the OP2 does not matter too much for Android Pay since apparently the stock OPO is frequently not supported...

Charge time with custom kernel: 50min. (At a safe rate). Not that you ever need to charge often, because with heavy downclock (I don't play intensive games) I get over 2 days and above 8h SOT.
Even though the OP2 is pretty good, I personally prefer the OPO as it has NFC, which is great for checking the balance of my travel card, and generally its a great device + They no longer have an invitation system for it. Only thing I would want to have from over on the OP2 are the DBbrand skins...
lol 6:19 swiping in from the left pulls down the status bar when using the camera.. If you didn't lock your phone in portrait mode and try to use the camera in a landscape mode, your status bar would have moved to the top while you were in landscape mode.
It was pretty much expected that this phone couldn't live up the hype it was aiming for. During the VR event, countless people were disappointed with the specs and features in this device. But according to company reps, "specs don't matter", so that leaves us with a mid tier device with a price to match. Its a shame onePlus stoop this low, hopefully they can recover and give us a true flagship class device instead of something a 3rd tier chinese company would release.
I have my Two and I love it. I definitely do not agree with their claim of it being a 2016 Flagship Killer, in fact it's arguable that it's even a 2015 flagship killer. But for the price, I love it. The 810 doesn't throttle in the Two, the design is beautiful, fingerprint sensor is great, and the camera is thankfully excellent

Things I don't like about the OnePlus Two: Invite system, A bit big, Not running cyanogenmod, Finger print reader Things I could care less about: Screen res above basic 1080(i'd prefer longer battery life), NFC, external storage, removable battery. (because I prefer super rugged cases I wouldn't be removing the case at all)
I have had a Galaxy Note for a few months with Samsungs wireless charger and it is an absolute game changer. Charge lasts all day so I just put it on the pad overnight and voila, no stabbing plugs in and out. Cannot recommend this enough.
So Linus (or anyone else here in the comments or from the youtube channel), what do you think is the best android phone currently/coming soon? I'm thinking of getting one for myself in the Christmas time and I would use it to gaming and your usual smartphone stuff. In the US you should probably save up for the Moto X Style/Pure instead (though the battery isn't as great on the Moto I think). However, in Europe (and also I think the UK) this is a much better purchase than the Style due to the price difference.

Still using my OPO, and the matching powerbank... Yes not having an SD card slot sucks but an OTG cable and card reader allows me to read micro and full SD cards along with any other USB storage including my 2.5" HDDs... managed to crack the screen a little bit but Cyanogen still runs like a top even though I haven't done any maintenance, at all in 6 months(try that with a skinned android like samsung or LG uses). I really should check what ROMs are available now....
I agree with you. The phone is awesome, but nfc that's something I really miss. Non expendable storage doesn't matter to me. I will never need so much space... I think....

I always assumed the whole invite thing was a way of them solving the fact that they can't produce them fast enough seeing as they are a newish company. Thats just me guessing though. Constantly being out of stock would have been way worse press.

View Finder got fixed in last OTA Update, give it a try.
Now in Camera-App the phone detects its orientation even if Auto-Rotation of the Screen is turned off.

Hey Linus is there a particular reason why your channel doesn't cover Linux because I am a huge Linux fan and want to see more coverage of it (watching this video in Linux Mint)
I got my OPO the other day. I wasn't too impressed with the minor changes in the OPT, and I'm glad I didn't waste my money on it, because this OPO is frickin' amazeballs!
Although i'm a huge fan of OnePlus, I really respect linus's honest opinions, and how unbiased he is in his reviews, when compared to a "traditional" review channel.
What I can say for the device is that One Plus didn't made the Fingerprint Scanner as a physical button, and NFC wasn't included because most of the people didn't use so they can cut from the price and upgrade a few things.
But making a SD card slot instead of the dual SIM card slot would really make it a "Flagship Killer"

Finally, i good review of the OnePlus 2 explaining the bad stuff about it... Took a while for an honest review not biased about not getting anymore review unit as a threat from the maker and it was not from a phone tech channel but the PC master race channel. Thank Linus, i will wait for Blackberry Priv/Venice or Nexus 6P or Snapdragon 820 or Project Ara.
It is a flagship killed where I am from where both the Nexus 6P and Moto X Style are around 650€+ where the OTP is 389€. It is a bit of a compromise as I would've preferred front facing speakers & quick charge, but wireless speakers & a power bank can help me out in times of need.

I bought the OnePlus 1 a few months back, when they took down the invite system for it.
Some time later, they announced the OnePlus 2, but looking at it now, i don't feel i have a piece of equipment that has been surpassed... I see the OP2 more like a OP1.5 ...
I mean, USB TypeC and -very- slightly higher specs?
Over losing NFC? And quick-charging? (And Cyanogen, but i guess that goes according to taste.)
Apart from that it's very much the same experience, so i'm pretty damn happy with my OP1 and i saved a couple of euros too. Yay.
I have a OPO, full regret. There have been so many issues with this thing. Both in hardware design (screen ground) and software (depending on ROM/version: nonfunctional mics, GPS unable to lock, WiFi, LTE, 3G, 2G radio issues, frequent crashes, overheating, battery drain, etc...)
Just switched to a custom ROM from the nightlies this weekend and it's been working better. Almost as well as originally with 4.4 but with all the workarounds for the defective touchscreen which makes it mostly usable.
The lack of NFC on the OP2 does not matter too much for Android Pay since apparently the stock OPO is frequently not supported...

hey linus i have a video idea, say at the end of the year "December" you could do a top 5 tech of the year?! or like top 5 monitors, top 5 headphones etc.
Charge time with custom kernel: 50min. (At a safe rate). Not that you ever need to charge often, because with heavy downclock (I don't play intensive games) I get over 2 days and above 8h SOT.

Even though the OP2 is pretty good, I personally prefer the OPO as it has NFC, which is great for checking the balance of my travel card, and generally its a great device + They no longer have an invitation system for it. Only thing I would want to have from over on the OP2 are the DBbrand skins...

If you didn't lock your phone in portrait mode and try to use the camera in a landscape mode, your status bar would have moved to the top while you were in landscape mode.
It was pretty much expected that this phone couldn't live up the hype it was aiming for. During the VR event, countless people were disappointed with the specs and features in this device. But according to company reps, "specs don't matter", so that leaves us with a mid tier device with a price to match. Its a shame onePlus stoop this low, hopefully they can recover and give us a true flagship class device instead of something a 3rd tier chinese company would release.
I have my Two and I love it. I definitely do not agree with their claim of it being a 2016 Flagship Killer, in fact it's arguable that it's even a 2015 flagship killer. But for the price, I love it. The 810 doesn't throttle in the Two, the design is beautiful, fingerprint sensor is great, and the camera is thankfully excellent
Just wondering, is it possible to include samples of call voice quality as well as video quality taken from the phone as well? I think that it would show the bigger picture of phones

Things I could care less about: Screen res above basic 1080(i'd prefer longer battery life), NFC, external storage, removable battery. (because I prefer super rugged cases I wouldn't be removing the case at all)

I think you recorded this before Oxygen OS 2.1 which did do a lot in terms of camera and other things also.

Ordered mine today while at work. Came home to a Linus review that makes me feel better about my purchase.
And I'm here with my OnePlus One next to me. A truly great device. With NFC. And QuickCharge. And Cyanogen OS. And *magnificent* battery life.
I have had a Galaxy Note for a few months with Samsungs wireless charger and it is an absolute game changer. Charge lasts all day so I just put it on the pad overnight and voila, no stabbing plugs in and out. Cannot recommend this enough.
So Linus (or anyone else here in the comments or from the youtube channel), what do you think is the best android phone currently/coming soon? I'm thinking of getting one for myself in the Christmas time and I would use it to gaming and your usual smartphone stuff. I would also love a video reviewing many smartphones and comparing them to each other. Keep on the good work :)

In the US you should probably save up for the Moto X Style/Pure instead (though the battery isn't as great on the Moto I think). However, in Europe (and also I think the UK) this is a much better purchase than the Style due to the price difference.

Still using my OPO, and the matching powerbank... Yes not having an SD card slot sucks but an OTG cable and card reader allows me to read micro and full SD cards along with any other USB storage including my 2.5" HDDs... managed to crack the screen a little bit but Cyanogen still runs like a top even though I haven't done any maintenance, at all in 6 months(try that with a skinned android like samsung or LG uses).
I really should check what ROMs are available now....

Had a chance to buy the OnePlus 2. Opted to get the ZTE Axon Pro for the dedicated DAC to pair with my IE-80's. No regrets. :)
I always assumed the whole invite thing was a way of them solving the fact that they can't produce them fast enough seeing as they are a newish company. Thats just me guessing though. Constantly being out of stock would have been way worse press.
