- You know what the 1290 Super Duke was missing? Power. No, nobody has ever said that, but KTM didn't care. Bigger is better, and now the Super Duke is even bigger-er with the introduction of the 1390 Super Duke R EVO, which is the only version we're getting in the US. We only got to spin about five cold and wet laps at the Almeria circuit, and that was enough of a taste of the utter madness the 1390 SDR is capable of unleashing.

These are obviously “too much”. I watched the behind the scenes video of the 1390’s development. It’s obvious that the team behind this bike are completely nuts. Love it!

I could be wrong, but I think it has like 2/3 the torque of the Rocket 3's

I had a 2022 1290 Super Adventure S for 6 months before it got stolen. The engine was so addictive that I will be back to KTM for 2025 when the new model comes out. Currently Iam on Vstrom 2023 1050, but I miss the beast.

With the experience I got by watching reviews I recognize now the "review" from the "advertisement". Believe me, if a biie has no negatives, it's an ad. Also it makes sense to say only positive things and nice specs when a company is giving you their motorcycles to try for free, in the track everything payed and probably paid review.

As someone that dailies a 2018 model Super Dike, I'd love to get more detail on the comparison. ie All the dukes are relatively high, but narrow waisted. Does this feel higher or just wider than the previous year? Compared to the 2018 model, when I sat on the 2020+ models it felt actually slightly lower, but also canted a bit further forwards and slightly more cramped. Has that changed on the 1390? Lastly, what does the shift cam feel like, if at all? The broader, more linear power sounds good. The concern being that reliability isn't exactly KTM's strong suite, so changes, and especially increases in mechanical complexity, are always going to be eyed warily.

Variable cam timing on a Ktm what could possibly go wrong?
Its a consumable item on BMWs with it so one can only imagine if it will need a shorter service interval than the oil on this.
Will you be doing an actual review of this bike in the future,if weather cooperates?
Looked at a KTM 1290 but ended up with a ZH2SE since reliability matters to me.
Newer KTM's are very reliable. Not sure why so many people heard about problems 20 years ago and can't get over that.
Lol, just watched a video where a 790 camshaft ate itself with only 16k miles and KTM denied warranty!
@@1TotalNoob Nice anecdotal. Speaking of camshafts, ZX11's were eating camshafts for decades, Kawasaki never fixed it.
@@AbnormalWrench You mean ZX-12s right, and because it was the 1200 it wouldn't have been decades. I don't remember pitted cams being an issue on the ZZR1100 in comparison.
I've daily ridden a 2018 KTM Super Duke 1290 for going on 6 years now. There's been one issue with the bike so far, although it was a major one under warranty. A gearbox issue with parts unavailable here in Oz during the pandemic, so KTM did a complete engine swap. A major hiccup to be sure, but that's been the sole issue.
Its hillarious and wonderful how they keep making more and more ludicrous machines, with all those electronic aids I bet you can keep it somewhat safe, what a dream machine! maybe I'll get my paws on one in 15years after a low side, mmmmmmm.

That headlight is a dealbreaker for me.
The headlight is the best thing about it , the last headlight was horrendous.
Dont let the headlight stop you riding one of the most addictive and insane bikes out there. You don't even see it when your riding anyway 😅
The 1390 has some similarities to the most recent Suzuki GSX S1000. If they made an aftermarket light halo to cover the stacked headlamps of the GSX, it could almost pass for the KTM.
Hi, I enjoyed the video. One important thing that is missing - what about seat height options. Seat height options are not just another detail, it's a deal breaker or deal maker for about 30% of riders. Thanks.
KTM seems to cater to 6ft2in Austrians, unfortunately.

This bike looks insane. Any 1290 super duke itself is insane. But a 1390 super duke evo.. would this be considered one of the best bikes so far?

Can anyone help me out? I just bought a new 23 zx1400r but on my tip toes at stop lights. But he said he was on his tip toes. Should I just eat it? Or lose the the money to trade for it.
They said the same thing about the Hayabusa when it first came out how ridiculous blah blah blah blah and first time I brought it was scared to get on once I got on and my skill improved now I'm looking for more it's never too much.

Displacement is actually only 1350 cc.
How’s does this compare to the ZH2?
FFS sake all those changes and it looks like the same 1290 switch gear, likely shittiest switch gear ever fitted to a motorcycle, is still being used? Did they fix the weird 4,000 RPM opening of the throttle plates on decal? Do you have pay extra for the advanced features to be electronically enabled?
