SDR is so strong from so low down. I had a Gen 3 and it is still the most fun bike I ever had, but it can get tiring! Really looking forward to the 1390 Super Adv to come out.
It definitely feels much quicker. The Kawasaki will probably be faster top end but this torque makes it feel like you're doing double the speed that you are

That's precisely it! Haha! I rode both the 1390 and the new 990 back to back on this day filming and the 990 is by far the better bike for launching around the roads. Almost got my knee down in the first 15 mins without even trying. It would just be if I could bring myself to walk past the 1390 to buy a 990 haha
Cannot wait to test this beast. It’s between this and theSFV4 for me this year. SFV4 has that same feeling higher up in rev range. Way more usable on the roads from what I’m hearing . I like to drive forward not up!

Haha! That's great! Bike wise, you've come back at a point where there is a crazy amount of choice! Worth deciding what you're going to use the bike for first which should narrow it down a little. I.e. are you going on trips or just for B-road blasts. The choice is massive

I have 2023 1290 SAS and that is enought power I think 1390 will make the wall of life and heaven thinner 🤔 I love to ride on curvy roads that beast cant handle traction on those bad quality road surface I guess?
Haha yeah! Very true! It's got a host of traction control, slip control, wheelie control etc so as long as you've got good tyres, it should be fine. The SAS will be better at bumpy roads due to the extra suspension travel though

That thing looks silly fast. If you're looking for a similar experience from a different brand check out the current generation MT-10. It's definitely not as elevated as the Duke in any objective way, but that doesn't stop it from being manic, comfortable fun.

watch Bikeworld's test of the 1290 SAS, Vs the V4 Multistrada, BMW and H-D.... (done in the wet,) the 1290 walked the Multistrada on 'in gear' acceleration.....that's what KTM's are all about! I don't understand how the hell it doesn't have some kind of fairing on the front to relieve pressure on the rider like the GT.....
I don't see the logic of putting that power, top end etc on a bike if you cant hold the damn thing above 80-90mph without wearing yourself out. my 1290 SAS is more than adequate!!... @@SamVBikes
The wind on the bike was very clean. It wasn't a case of it being too much at high speed. It was the acceleration in track throttle. Just insanely torquey

Loved the vid, liked and subbed! If I may ask an annoying question, this, the V4S or the M1000R, as an allrounder..? Which would you go home with? I want to upgrade from my 2021 MT-09 SP... but I am unable to make up my mind.
V4R is much more expensive, drinks more fuel, has less torque down low (must be kept in higher rpm to get most of the power) and the M1000R is just a boring 4 in line engine. I drove all bikes and bought my second SDR (I really liked the V4R but not for the streets, its a circuit bike really). but I must says I like riding my wife's Street Triple RS (2023 model) almost as much!
I agree with the above. The Ducati is more of a special occasion bike in my mind. I wouldn't even consider taking it on a trip or for a long ride. For me, the SuperDuke would win. Both SDR and M1000R are stupidly powerful but you can get more of a thrill from the SDR on the roads due to the torque. The M1R is an inline 4 so the fun starts at much higher speeds
@@tubejorrit The Ducati V4 and V2 in the flesh are just beautiful bikes but my god you sit on one and the body position is horrendous, I literally couldn’t ride around on a V4 , obviously they’re track focused but on the road definitely not for me 👍🏾

@@Cartsp70 If the Ducati V4S was a car, it would have been a Ferrari 458, if the KTM would be a car its a Mercedes C63S, both the same horsepower, but the merc being more fun because of all the torque at lower RPM, more comfy. The Ferrari faster around a track ofcourse but not livable on a daily basis.

Yeah, I guess a lot of manufacturers will do similar when it comes to CC vs name of the bike but its normally closer. KTMs always have the 90 at the end as part of their branding, so I understand why they did it. Having said that, to increase to a 1390cc engine or close would have needed a new block by the sound of it, which is more weight.
That front light is horrible!!! And until Keep Taking Money fixes the lousy software ghosts and changes its appalling lack of customer service and support I'll pass..... Indefinitely
Oddly I really like it in person. Think we are going to see far more projector headlights in the coming iterations of models. I'm sure I read somewhere that it's an EU regulation which is pushing that. The software seems to be getting there, but not perfect, but that seems to be pretty similar to most of the other high-tech bikes on the market. As for the customer service, yeah.. They can be really hit and miss! I've had nothing but brilliant service from them, but know others have had nothing but pain!
Nah. Sport or track throttle and send it! It's like any crazy fast bike... eventually you get used to it. A hr test ride on damp rds isn't enough time to adapt to a super duke imo.
Yeah definitely need to adjust to it. We had the bikes for nearly 3 hours and it still wasn't enough. Even coming off Rally Mode throttle on a tuned super adventure still was a shock 😂

Sounds epic but pretty pointless for anything but the track. When are you ever going to utilise 180hp without breaking the law... not to mention the questionable reliability. I get it, we all want high hp bikes for waving our willys at bike meets, but you won't ever utilise the bike fully on a UK road.
Agreed, although all top end naked's are now... 210bhp M1000R, 208bhp StreetFighter, even the famously 'underpowered' MT10 is around 170bhp. This sits in the middle of the pack for power. Everyone has wanted more power, more electronics, more more more... so the manufacturers have followed. Recently, many people, including myself, seem to be leaning towards the middle-weights as better road bikes so I'd assume the ceiling will start to drop again. In terms of reliability, time will tell. The Gen 3 Super Adv's have had a large improvement over the Gen 2, so now this has the matching electronics suite, I'd like to think the Gen 4 SDR would be much better. Obviously you'll get new model teething issues, and your Friday afternoon bikes like you do in any manufacturer
@SamVBikes 100%. Look at the new GS. No end of issues. I had no end off issues with my 1290 and handed it back after a legal battle and won. Never again.. I don't care what people say. It's a coin toss on reliability. I hear more issues on KTM than any other manufacturer.. I have an XSR900 and Tuono 1100 and in all fairness, I love them both but never utilise the tuono, just wanted one for the noise.. I'm tempted to sell the XSR900 to buy a new Tracer 9 GT+ for my touring bike. Don't see the point in adventure bikes when 98% of UK owners don't go off road and just want big hp/heavy bikes for waving their willy's around at bike meets.
No reason to upgrade either. The torque is the best feature and I can’t never use all of it at the top end. Mid range and low end torque on the SDR is its best feature, but it’s actually awesome on the road in traffic. Never have to shift.
These types of bikes give you the giggle factor. Once you’ve experienced one you’ll never go for anything else. Loving my SF V2 but might upgrade to this 👍🏽
I thought the same thing with the Hayabusa boy was I wrong you can definitely take advantage of the horsepower when you get used to the bike and your skill level gets better and the bike stays fun to ride that's the biggest Advantage it's not boring so I totally disagree with you.
We will see with reliability. My Super Adventure has been faultless. Obviously there will be some 'Friday Afternoon Bikes' but these new ones seem much better

New switchgear for this model. The Super Adventure switchgear was updated for the new model so this has followed with that

Yes it has a fuel gauge and miles to empty. Heats not too bad but you can definitely tell you're sitting on a big Twin. Similar heat to the 1290

Sounds epic but pretty pointless for anything but the track. When are you ever going to utilise 180hp without breaking the law... not to mention the questionable reliability. I get it, we all want high hp bikes for waving our willys at bike meets, but you won't ever utilise the bike fully on a UK road.
Agreed, although all top end naked's are now... 210bhp M1000R, 208bhp StreetFighter, even the famously 'underpowered' MT10 is around 170bhp. This sits in the middle of the pack for power. Everyone has wanted more power, more electronics, more more more... so the manufacturers have followed. Recently, many people, including myself, seem to be leaning towards the middle-weights as better road bikes so I'd assume the ceiling will start to drop again.
In terms of reliability, time will tell. The Gen 3 Super Adv's have had a large improvement over the Gen 2, so now this has the matching electronics suite, I'd like to think the Gen 4 SDR would be much better. Obviously you'll get new model teething issues, and your Friday afternoon bikes like you do in any manufacturer

I had no end off issues with my 1290 and handed it back after a legal battle and won. Never again.. I don't care what people say. It's a coin toss on reliability. I hear more issues on KTM than any other manufacturer..
I have an XSR900 and Tuono 1100 and in all fairness, I love them both but never utilise the tuono, just wanted one for the noise.. I'm tempted to sell the XSR900 to buy a new Tracer 9 GT+ for my touring bike. Don't see the point in adventure bikes when 98% of UK owners don't go off road and just want big hp/heavy bikes for waving their willy's around at bike meets.
No reason to upgrade either. The torque is the best feature and I can’t never use all of it at the top end. Mid range and low end torque on the SDR is its best feature, but it’s actually awesome on the road in traffic. Never have to shift.
These types of bikes give you the giggle factor. Once you’ve experienced one you’ll never go for anything else. Loving my SF V2 but might upgrade to this 👍🏽
I thought the same thing with the Hayabusa boy was I wrong you can definitely take advantage of the horsepower when you get used to the bike and your skill level gets better and the bike stays fun to ride that's the biggest Advantage it's not boring so I totally disagree with you.

Ugly bikes but at least they have an identity. The reliability seems an issue though so not for me.
We will see with reliability. My Super Adventure has been faultless. Obviously there will be some 'Friday Afternoon Bikes' but these new ones seem much better
