you are 100% right, Ive been looking at how many v6 trucks, including the new 2022 raptor sounds like crap. If they just had shorty headers, would i only consider a v6 in a full size truck. I wish they could stop doing even firing v6 and try something different.
After testing on my first 3.7 v6 I found that keeping your cats and going with a 3inch dual tailpipe will give you the same result here. The longer the 3inch goes back the better.
Yeah, most people don't understand that your tip length should be at least 12" and you SHOULD have actual tips rather than plain pipe, and the tips should be bigger than the plain pipe. You should also, ideally, have at least 12" OF plain pipe after any muffler and before any tips.

Why? Because the diameter multiplied by pi is the circumference, and having the length be at least equal to the circumference probably has something to do with the resonance.

For the most sound for your buck I would reccomend a mid pipe and an axle back exhaust. Should wake the car up a little and make it sound nice for not a crazy amount of money.
In my opinion i recommended to buy Roush Borla ATAK. It gives you deep sound and if you install it with BBK shorty headers, roush cold air intake. It would be perfect deep sound of your car.
I don't know that much about the v6 chargers but I think those are for the previous gens (06-10). I believe they changed the engine to yours after that and I don't really see anybody putting headers on those for some reason. So yea year matters in that case.
Is this considerably quieter with an x pipe? And what does the inlet diameter need to be on the tips? I’m thinking about doing 4 in tips but don’t know what size the piping needs to be to connect to the stock piping
I haven't heard the x pipe in person, but based of the videos it's a decent amount louder. I bought 2.5 inlet tips. Not sure if the stock piping size is 2.25 or 2.5, but the shop made them fit nice.

Do you have an auto? Mine revved all the way to 7000 from the factory and 7500 the tune. You might be able to email the tuner and ask them to turn it off.
I'm not to familiar with the f150 3.7 exhaust setups and I'm not to sure if they make a kit for this, but you can take it to a good exhaust shop and tell them you want true duals with no muffler or resonator and bring your own exhaust tips, the shop will provide the piping. After this you would need to buy shorty headers (if they make them for the f150 3.7) with the stock cats still attached and it would sound somewhat similar to this

@Quamaine Sturgis Pretty much. The tips made it a little bit deeper but didn't change the overall sound. So yea resonator delete would be pretty much it.

You could tell them to do a muffler delete and a true dual resonator delete with no x or h. Just straight through. And the shorty headers if you have them and they can do them.
I noticed a pretty big difference in sound. It made It sound a little more muscley. Not sure if it made it louder but they have bigger diameter tubing than the stock manifold so maybe.

Irl maybe like a 8. I've never heard it from the outside on the revs or anything. But the next owner must have lived close enough to me where I could hear it at night with my windows closed from like 1 mile away. Ive noticed the the sound just really carried with that setup. Ive got a catless coyote now, and it wasn't too far off from that, but definitely less.
None of that "booming drone" that makes the interior vibrate, but you could constantly hear it on the highway, even over my music until I turned up the volume, since it is a pretty loud setup overall. Some may consider that drone, but it seems to be different for everyone. I didn't think it was too bad though now being in my current car.

I don't remember the exact amount but probably like 800 to 900. I did the headers myself though so it might be more for a shop install.

If you’re looking for a deeper tone definitely just go with a muffler delete it’s a good starting mod for super cheap and your car will sound amazing

Yea true. If they have them, get long and open tips, it made it sound alot better in my opinion. Mine were 2.5 by 4 by 12in

Shortys usually don't mess with the cats but longtubes do. I just bolted mine on in front of the stock cats.

I never did them on this car but probably mid 120s depending on how far the dB meter is away from the exhaust. It's definitely a loud setup.

This is a V6 not a Coyote. Automatic trans can only rev to 4k and the manuals up to 7k I believe. You can remove that rev limiter with a tune tho
