@@DansWay My Fit has over 300k miles, the only thing holding on my bumper cover is the 4 clips under the hood, all the other stuff has broken and I no longer have inner fender wells. It's lowered so I'm fine with it, only drive it on nice days. Makes working on things a lot easier. :D
Wow - awesome video. You only spoke about the things that mattered, you gave good previews before you actually did the work, and you explained things very well. Thanks - great video!
Thanks for this video. This helped me change the ugly hazed yellow headlights and put on my clear headlight assembly on each side. The car looks WAY better now. I just changed them yesterday!
You should post more videos too.. excellent video very helpful I opened my 05 honda city saloon bumper after watching this before i had no idea.. thanks
Many thanks for this video and the links for all the parts. I've been searching all over online, stumbled upon this video, and it saved the day. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
@@DansWay it is a bumper, hood, driver light and the bracket underneath the light. Your link for bracket underneath the light was our missing link. Thank you!

thank you for going to this effort, brilliantly explained all the way through....you have given me the confidence to have a go myself....thank you again
My headlights were foggy as hell but that Meguiars headlight restoration kit made them look brand new. Literally just like the one he's holding. $25 for the kit and even if they start to fog up again(a treatment chemical is included in the kit though) replacement oem headlights are like $200.
Great video with all the steps (just missed the beer) I got a kick when I saw the California license plate... (the state where If you paid someone to do that job it would cost ya an arm and a leg!!!) ;)
The video is great and very detailed the only thing I find it's missing is putting the bumper back on. Does is just clip on and you replace the clips on the bottom?
Basically yes. The sides snap back on, and the top and bottom need to have the clips reinstalled or replaced. There is a snap-kit assortment available on Amazon that there is a link to in the description above.
You don't even need to remove the entire bumper. Just loosen the two screws in the wheel housings and the 4 top clips and bend it a little bit down. Then you can reach all 3 bolts and 1 screw of each headlight.
I suggest clicking on the Amazon link then entering your car information to see if it says it will fit. Then you can rely on thier return-policy if it doesn't.
Great video. Looks easy enough for even me. Did the new assembly have all the fittings to connect to the frame? Mine broke, so I just want to know if I need to order them as well.
The assembly has the mounting holes that align with the existing holes in the frame. Take a look at the first couple minutes of video again and you can see how I point them out. No bolts are provided, just the one piece light. All the bulbs were provided as well which I honestly didn't even think about.
@@DansWay I was told I needed to replace my driver side bracket for my Honda fit because I got in a wreck and I have the new headlights not but I'm not sure what the bracket it or what it looks like for me to be able to order it...and help would be awesome
Andrew, take a look at the following links. There are two different bumper retainer assemblies. One attaches to the headlight, the other to the fender near the tire. I don't know what year you have, so double-check that these are the same as your car's year: www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~spacer~71198-sln-a01.html?Make=Honda&Model=Fit&Year=2008&Submodel=&Filter=(bt=3%2c21;et=2%2c7)&Location=bumper,3069442,20 www.hondapartsnow.com/genuine/honda~beam~71146-sln-a00.html?Make=Honda&Model=Fit&Year=2008&Submodel=&Filter=(bt=3%2c21;et=2%2c7)&Location=bumper,3069442,17
Don't know about the age of this vehicle, but in the UK if this was manufactured 2007..the vehicles were having their exhausts stolen due to the valuable metals. I think newer models have made it more difficult for the exhausts to be stolen. It happens in minutes. If the exhaust hasn't been stolen already make sure your vehicle is alarmed. Honda civic is another. Does theft of exhausts take place in the US? It will cost several hundred $ to purchase an after market exhaust I'm guessing.
I had the front end apart last weekend, this time to do the valve clearance adjustment and to replace the bumper clips I broke while filming this video... ;-) So yes, all the bolts on the headlights were 10mm.
Wow, yah, that is high! The passenger side is $150 so that's a bit better, but I'm not sure what is going on. Did you find any other lower cost options? I'll do some searching myself for a different solution...
@@DansWay Heh, it's a twelve year old car, and I've been polishing them about every two years for about half that. At this point, I'm not going to spend too much money on them. I came to the video because I was told I need to remove the bumper to get a clearer shot at the front engine mount which seems to have failed.
Arbaaj, the lowest two bolts on the headlight is hiding behind the bumper which is why it must be removed to completely replace the headlight. These two bolts also connect to the bumper support clip which holds on the bumper right below the headlight.
Thanks, these new lights are a bit different of a look from the factory original. We tried to polish the surface of the old ones, but the plastic was yellowed all the way through on ours so we just decided to go for new ones. The sanding trick has worked on my other cars.
You had me until you said they dumbest thing I ever Hurd turn the lights on and Mark it on the door look people put the the screws in 99.9 percent back where it was lmfao at this dude
Best video for this job -- all the steps covered.
Those clips on that piece below the headlight are made of cotton candy and prayers.
Yup, and perhaps a few spider web nests... That's why I put the links in the description so you can buy replacements...

I know so funny
Very helpful and clearly explained, but ends very abruptly. Is there a part 2 covering left hand headlamp and replacing the bumper?
Good morning, I have the same fit and I wanted to know where the horn is.
Thanks a lot
There are generally two horns. They are in front and behind the radiator as I recall. Round black plastic with two wires going to each.
broke those clips beneath the headlights as-well trying to take off bumper first time lol. now bumper kinda hangs loose so ill have to replace
Holy smokes those things look huge.

Exactly right. I think I mentioned in the video that I removed it completely to inspect the area more completely because this was a salvage purchase.

At first, I thought it was Bob Thornton was vlogging.
I can do all of that in half the time, just go through the wheel wells
How would you get to the two hidden screws by going through the wheel wells?
@@DansWay Which hidden screws? Just take out some of the push pins and you're set.
I just have a ton of experience changing bulbs in most Hondas from working at a Honda dealership. I would do a video, but it's all done by feel.

did you use #10 for all bolts?

How can get EGR of honda fit?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
All you had to do is sand down the corrosion off the OEM headlights and apply a clear UV coat. Would of been just fine.
Looks good though all cleaned up!

It's not corrosion, the plastic is solarized so that it appears to have cracks all the way through. Polishing the surface won't help.
