The comment about how Nintendo never innovate characters has me almost certain that, like Odyssey, Yoshiaki Koizumi headed up development on Bowser's Fury. I certainly hope so because I think his appreciation for innovation is what will make the Mario series shine throughout the Switch's and its successor's life-cycles.
Koizumi is a producer and doesn't direct games anymore. For a very, very long time now. It really is EPD Tokyo as a whole that always tries to innovate. Since Jungle Beat to be clear.

1. Miiamoto told the people who made Paper Mario to try to use only Mario characters and not make new characters while they worked on Sticker Star (that is why Sticker Star,Color Splash,and Oringami King don't have unique chracters and just have stuff like toads, boom without a fues as a character,etc)
2. Nintendo said that Paper Mario shouldn't be a RPG cause the Mario and Luigi series is a RPG and they don't want to have 2 of the same genre

Just realized that this reminds me of Odyssey more than anything. It’s like one big Odyssey kingdom. I mean, even look at Mario’s animation when he picks up the Cat Shine. He does the little Odyssey spin and then pose with his hand pointing up at his new collectible. I am beyond excited for this port now.

If you look at the trailer, there are those giant bell cat powerup statues everywhere. I'm wondering if killing giant bowser just knocks him into a resting state and after a certain amount of time he emerges again. Kind of like the imprisoned from Skyward Sword in a way. So every 20 minutes or so he wakes up and you have to put him back in his "cacoon" until you have the stuff to end this for good

This trailer pushed me from "eh, I'm content with the Wii U version" to seriously considering buying it at launch. The music was the most unexpectedly hilarious thing I've seen in a Mario game trailer until Mario went super saiyan a few seconds later.

Amazing how oddly dark recent Mario stuff has been, from fighting Sephiroth, to this, I dig it! Gives me hope for the RPG series-style tone to make a sort of comeback.
The fact that bowser junior is here makes me think there really is some type of story. I mean I doubt they would just randomly put him in and have him fight his dad. Also given that it's just one big world, I wonder how long it's going to be
The og game is 4-6 hours long so it will probably 3-5 hours

@@Ninjereto I remember the og game being far longer than 6 hours counting the special worlds and getting a good amount of the Green Stars. I thought it was more like 10-12 playing through all the levels once and not as all characters, but I could be wrong

I’m going with the “fight him multiple times” aspect. My hope is that it’s either a collection trigger or just a countdown trigger that causes Bowser to spring from his cocoon and rage for a moment before returning to his cocoon. The first few encounters are basically just like the dodge and survive segments we’ve seen. Once you’ve finally unlocked the towers that open up the Lion Bell (as we see in the first few seconds of the trailer), then you go to war with Bowser. But this still doesn’t answer the question as to why Bowser is out of control, and why Bowser Jr is helping you. My *hope* is that there’s another final boss who contaminated/corrupted Bowser into this rage, and you have to fight against that other boss to beat the game. That’s the only potential “surprise” left when I consider the options. ...and that true final boss needs to be Fawful. Because not only does he have fury, now he can make others have it too. Please Nintendo, let it be Fawful.
I dont know if it could be fawful, but we definitely need like a final boss that is the true villain of the story, the one that corrupted bowser

My theory is that the final Bowser fight in Bowser's Fury doesn't happen once. Maybe while you're going around getting the cat tokens there's just a set time period for Bowser to grow and then be released. However, because you don't have all the cat tokens you have to find some other way than the big cat bell power up to quell him back down into his dormant state again while you continue to collect the rest of the tokens needed to take him down for good. Now, that could get annoying, but it would be a different way to go about things and would make why they showed so much of the "final" Bowser fight more reasonable. Could get kind of annoying though, e.g. you're in the middle of a big platforming puzzle and he transforms while you're there forcing you to stop what you're doing to stop him.
Edit: Wow! Can't believe I actually called it, feels good to predict something right like that! (Only sorta right tho since you don't have to take down bowser to quiet him down each time but I'll take it nevertheless)
Reminds me of Pikmin 2's Waterwraith in a way : take too long and suddenly this annoying chaser is harrassing you while you're completing your task until the next chekpoint.

Although with the waterwraith it made that area better for me, everywhere else I would just go though analyze everywhere likely ignore the exit for a while. However, with the submerged castle (that's what I think it was called), the waterwraith adds the constant terror to find the next floor, or else the waterwraith could start hunting you and end everything. If Bowser goes as you predict it would add a sense of urgency, to me at least, if executed as well as the waterwraith.

I think you might be right except the reverse. He grows over time as you play and will eventually break out. When he breaks out you have to beeline it from wherever you are to the giant super bell to beat him back into a dormant state and when you get enough of the collectibles you unlock some big final battle where you purify him. (perhaps you are collecting them for Bowser Jr. and Bowser Jr. is who gets the ability to purify his dad and you have to protect him as super saiyan cat mario)
This is going to be my first time playing Mario 3d world. I was exited originally but this has confirmed the fact that I am going to get this on launch!
Pro tip. Play it with friends it makes it SIGNIFICANTLY more fun
And make sure you get it because the game comes out right after my birthday next month

It makes a lot of sense that they would do this. They made a whole new location that centers around cats for this one Mario game. They explored it a little more with Captain Toad by giving us more of the world. Now they’re expanding upon this new area of Mario’s world, and it looks amazing. They’re doing what Nintendo does best, make new and unique experiences for the player in a creative way. My absolute favorite thing about it, is the small but impactful inclusion of Bowser Jr. It seems like Nintendo is still willing to mix and match their large cast of characters for a unique story. It makes these characters feel more serious and dynamic. This looks like a breath of fresh air for the series.
Side note: the design of Mario in the tittle for Bowsers fury where he’s standing next to bowser Jr. Mario looks short and stubby like how he did in Mario odyssey which makes me think that they’ve had this idea for a while and they sort of had the design for Mario set as the more stubby and short Mario from odyssey. Basically my theory is that bowsers fury is the big Mario odyssey DLC that we’ve wanted but they just didn’t know how to incorporate it into odyssey as some new mode or story line.

Also, Bowser is covered in some black tar looking substance, and with Bowser Jr. and all the water areas in this world, it seems to be a clear homage to Sunshine

Something interesting I noticed is that they gave Mario the ability to move in more than 8 directions for Bowsers Fury (you can’t do it in the base game cuz it’s more linear) which is definitely going to be awesome for this considering it’s an open world area

The thing I’m looking forward for and am exited about is that Nintendo is probably going to see how we as the fans feel about Bowser’s Fury and if we all LOVE it then they make a full game like this with tons of new stuff, like new gimmicks such as how in Bowser’s Fury bowser will appear to attack you but it’d happen at random intervals to spice things up (the blood moon in BotW is a good example of what I mean by random) and then after a bit of trouble he’ll go back to normal until the time comes again

Arlo, I absolutely applaud you for being the one other person who mentioned "Yoshi's Island"'s Bowser. I heard so many silly comparissons to Gigantamaxing in Pokémon today already and honestly could only roll my eyes each time.

The world here looks like a giant Mario 64 world with simple, contained areas for platforming, as opposed to Odyssey's more intricate and detailed worlds which felt more lively and lived-in. Coupled with the 'paint blobs' covering areas of the world and paintbrush Bowser Jr. we get a smattering of Sunshine in the game. Got to say I love that about it. I do have the same fear that we have seen everything which would probably put me off a bit. It's really promising so far.

I’m expecting at least a couple of world unlocks personally. There’s areas of blackness surrounding Bowser that might be additional areas that you unlock after beating him with Super Saiyan Mario the first time. Or it could also be like the Shine Sprites, where the more Cat Shines you get the more of the are that get’s cleaned up.
I'm more interested about all the cats to be honest! Like legit, good to see another new race for the Mario universe! Even if it is still technically in the Sprixie Kingdom!
And also... Super Mario 3D World has multiple characters. If this game has the potential for me to see Blue Toad become a colossal super saiyan feline of destruction then I will 100% obtain.

I have a theory. Maybe, judging by the trailer, the whole thing is timed in that you are trying to get as many of the cat coins and cat shines as possible before Bowser wakes up and makes everything harder. And you’re getting the cat stuff to unlock the giant bell to fight him off. But if it isn’t timed then maybe it is a serious of getting the thing to unlock the thing but doing so makes Bowser wake. Pretty interesting stuff if you ask me. Also a couple of side notes, I haven’t played 3D world before so I could be wrong but it looks like in this mode you get some of Mario’s Odyssey moves like the role and ground pound jump. I also noticed the Bowser Jr’s paint brush no longer has E. Gadd’s logo but has Bowser Jr’s logo. Kinda strange.
gotta rebrand that thing so E. Gadd doesn't get arrested for aiding and abetting a criminal.

I think you might want to take another look at the connotations of that sentence
I suspect Bowser's awakening is a repeating event that happens after so much time has passed in the mode. You reach the Super Cat Bell, fight Bowser, and he retreats back into his "cocoon" form. The goal of the mode is probably to collect all of the "Kitty Shines" until you have them all, and can then purify Bowser in one final battle.
I do know one thing, though: I totally want Bowser's Fury to be his Final Smash in SSB6.
I also noticed that when bowser wakes up, its not actually instant, it takes some time for him to finally get up, as shown by the different angles and mario being in different places, reminds me of majoras mask with the days till moon go brr
I noticed that there were cats in the trailer, ones that are snuggling Mario (chick magnet lol), and then evil cats

I didn’t even notice there were evil cats. All I noticed was that the cats with Mario matched the colors for Luigi, Peach, and Toad.
The new overview trailer says they are in an island full of cats. So chances are that's probably not the Mario gang

Bowser Jr. has wielded the paintbrush in a few games since Sunshine. The only ones I can remember for sure are Mario Tennis Aces and Super Smash Bros.
I love the callback to sunshine with the brush, the open world design of Odyssey, and the assets of 3D world
