Developers regardless of anything will take reference of anything and everything.

You know actually I think that nintendo did pretty good last year because even through the pandemic they made some cool games cool designs for there switches not to mention they had a decent year for profit but the one thing I think is different from these games back in the 90,s was that they are changing all there themes for mario games it is not your typical run and jump adventure game NO ITS MUCH MORE they actually try to connect stories with there on going sequels especially for the dlc of bowsers fury because of how bowser evo led from giga bowser his first form to dark shadow monster bowser this form
