    If you haven’t done one yet, all you folks with 7.3 diesel. Check your high pressure lines in the valley . I just had one to rupture, lost 15 quarts of oil, has to be towed. New lines, oil and tow cost me 700.00. Ford recommends changing those 2 high pressure lines very 100,000 miles.

      Very good advice! I had an O-ring blow on my HPOP in the middle of Wyoming and that anded up costing me about the same. I have since resealed my entire HPOP and have two upgraded spare lines in the garage. Plan on installing them sometime in the near future.

    Instead of painting the intercooler ducts, use a little thermodynamics I think about heat transfer into and out of that ducting. I suggest on the cold air side wrapping the duct with insulation tape and then paint them silver. The insulation tape will keep the heat out, the silver paint will reflect heat. On the hot side do the same only paint black. The thought here is to keep the heat from radiating out of the duct and away from sensitive components.

    • @LivingOnWheels

    With the turbo charger the intake heater isn’t keeping air from your engine. If it was, Ford wouldn’t have it there. The turbo is forcing over 100% of the air it would take to fill the cylinders.
    Non turbo engines typically get about 70% filled with air while running.

    This winter my 7.3 was having a hard time starting all of a sudden. I took a test light and found that the air intake heater relay was not working. I bought an Ford OEM relay for 70 dollars off eBay. I changed it out. Put the key in and it started right up.
    I like when the truck starts like a gas engine. Hit the key, bam.
    But, that is just me.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I could be wrong but you probably replaced the Glow Plug Relay. The intake heater relay doesn't activate unless the truck is already running. None the less, it is very nice to have the truck fire right up!

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the intake air heater isn't used for cold starts at all. Its purpose was turn turn on during really cold conditions while idling to help create a fuller burn and reduce haze. Basically it's an emissions component. So as far as what you're asking, you should see no difference at all. Especially if you are using your block heater in those temps.

      Bradley I believe it had a resistor wired in with it as well (not sure what size) but I’m sure you could make your own.

      So there should be a resistor in the stock ground cable?

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradleymetler4918 The resistor cable is used to ground the power terminal. On the stock setup the heater coat provides the resistance.

      They have a pretty bad reputation with diesel trucks. Go with S&B or banks

    Joe do you have a pcv relocate kit or do you vent your pvc into the intake? Lots of pro and cons on this mod. Mine is a 6.0 yours is a 7.3. Thanks

      John P Richardson once I installed my new turbo it’s been venting to the atmosphere but I plan on putting it through a catch can and back to the intake. Just haven’t fabbed it all up yet

      @@LivingOnWheels sounds good Joe. I hope you make a video of that install. I am thinking of doing the same can install. Do you have any brand can back thru the intake in mind?

      John P Richardson I got a cheap on off amazon for now. Seems like it will do fine. If I have issues I’ll probably go to Mishimoto and pick up their high flow can.

      If there is nothing at all with the throttle pedal then my guess would be your throttle position sensor. Easy thing to swap out.
