I honestly didn't expect that. When I saw the first two phases I was like, "Why did ONGBAL make an exclusively DS3 video if it doesn't have a catch to it?" Then I saw the third phase and was like, "Oh"
@@codywalker1041 Oh yeah, it was pretty dope but it was mostly a reskinned Sister Friede/Fire Demon. Convergence has some amazing bosses, from a technical standpoint imo Archdruid and Pwntiff are the best.

I just recently finished Sekiro (I love it so much I beat it thrice and then jumped onto the Resurrection mod which I'm still playing through), and Isshin is my absolute favourite fight in the game (Inner more than Regular Isshin tho). I can not express how shocked and happy I was when I saw the glaive and then the moves lmao this mod is truly great as I've heard, will give it a shot def since I love DS3 a lot too.
How epic would it be if you had to defeat an Abyss Watcher with Genichiros moveset first, and then this Sword Saint Sulyvahn starts to crawl out of the Abyss Wachter like Isshin and Genichiro.
Why do parries in Dark Souls feel so much meaner than in Sekiro? Like, you do basically this exact thing to Isshin on a regular basis and it never feels quite so much like bullying as this does.
Parrying is a core part of the combat in Sekiro whereas you can mostly go without it in Dark Souls. It's like performing an advanced technique like a bycicle kick or something. If it's something you can rarely pull off but nail it in the moments when you need to, it feels really good but if it's a move you just do every hour of the day it starts to feel like anything else.
Because it doesn't look that different from the basic defense stance. And also since the game revolves around it, the timing is far more generous than in souls games. Some of the shields have so few parry frames it's a miracle some people can parry with them at all. And some of the delayed windup and timing for slow shields is very counter-intuitive.
That was badass, as always, well done Ongbal. I wonder if we'll see some Elden ring footage after the game comes out. I have tested the Beta and I have to say, I was impressed. I can't wait for February.
I kinda wish the devs would give sully a custom made halberd/spear/naginata/thing in the future Like PKCS, with a much l o n g e r handle and the blade being "fixed", not looking like it's been chewed by insects
Btw, how long did this take you? Really impressive. I finally got to Pontiff in my SL0 run and I'm realizing how little I know this fight when I can't burst him with parries. Haven't made it to phase 2 yet, let alone phase 3 in the first hour XD
@@_ONGBAL Glad you think so! I personally preferred Sekiro's combat but I can see that it might not have fit into From's vision of Elden Ring. Though I have to admit I would like to see a successor, or at least a spiritual successor to Sekiro.
As cool as it looks, you can't tell me Isshin's moveset is not a whole Nerf to Sulyvahn. He's even slower than phase two when he uses Ishin's moves. Just you can't escape his reach. But these aren't Pre Patch DS2 hitboxes so you're safe. Also, odd thing to note is I see my kin in this: Phase 1 is me. Phase 2 is dad. Phase 3 is my brother. Progressively slower fighters with different approaches to the situation.
The first phase is faster but less complex. It's just sword slashes so it's not that hard to fight if you know when the combo ends. The sword saint phase is slower with a much longer reach. It looks easier because our sekiro god parries the sword strikes and ends the combo instantly. The slower speed also makes it harder (imo) to time the rolls. It's just genichiro compared to spear isshin. Genichiro is faster but the timing doesn't change a lot, so it's more predictable than isshin
Im doing sl0 atm (don't have a better name for 0 stat version, even though it's technically 1 with 1 faith) and found you can use the harald curved sword (the regular curved sword) without proper stats and you don't get any damage penalty unless the enemy deflects weapons without proper stats (shield or heavy armor). That's what I'm using in early game. Will see if there are any other interesting options later on.
Sulyvahn: raises his profaned greatsword to strike-
Ongbal: So, you've chosen a 3 hit combo.
Phase 3 began and I started laughing hysterically
Like every NPC does at the end of dialogue 😅
Loool that was literally my reaction when i fought him

"Oh that explains it."
U New here?
ONGBAL flawlessed every DS3 boss before Sekiro was even out....

1:48 was fucking amazing. speechless
That is definetely one of the most fun parries to do in the game.
I was waiting for this so much, hopefully you can showcase multiple bosses from other mods this way
You know, as funny as "Haha, Ongbal is fighting Isshin again" is, dang does it work for this fight.
OH MY GOD HIS MOVES ARE SO MUCH FRICKEN COOLER NOW!!
Honestly this was the best modded fight next to Archdruid Caimar. Excellent work from the modders
What about soul of cinder?

The Elden Ring! Judging from all those gameplay tests and whatnot do you guys think the game will come out great? Visually it looks stunning

Honestly cant imagine how many tries it takes… the determination….
jesus christ that's actually sick as fuck cool mod

the way he parries was like "get that shit outta my face"
Why do parries in Dark Souls feel so much meaner than in Sekiro? Like, you do basically this exact thing to Isshin on a regular basis and it never feels quite so much like bullying as this does.
Less frames for it. Also, there is a build up phase. In Sekiro as soon you press the button you are alrealdy defending.
Because in sekiro it makes you feel on their level, it's mostly flashy. In dark souls there is much more weight to it and it's more animated.
Parrying doesn’t interrupt attacks in Sekiro smoothbrain (not counting posture breaks)
