That boss so good and fit with the theme as well and is probably my favorite. In ds2 we tried to stop the chaos flame and in this ds3 mod the old Chaos is frozen due to our action. In the mod, you start 1v1 the boss then midway through he breaks the ice contained the knights from before and those knights were with this boss who is now using Ice power. But after the phase change he use Fire power and the knights remember their duty so they help you to stop the fire once again. It is so well put together

Yeah, most people I've seen play it go "oh, start with the left like Demon Souls!" And it's like one of the hardest areas of the demo. So also a lesson on player expectations lol
The thing is, the Gael area was supposed to be this kind of desert area in original DS3 until it was scrapped and reworked. In this area you had to see both Catrhus Sandworm and fight Abyss Watchers, just like you could see in a new game cutscene. While Yorhm was intended to be the first boss instead of Gundyr.
Also, judging by just how much Fromsoft reference Berserk, they never ended up doing a single Persian or Turkish inspired Middle-Eastern design yet some rather big events in the manga happen because of the "desert" faction of "angry curved swords turban people".

Incredibly impressed with how well this game is constructed, especially because I assume all these assets are already in various FromSoft games. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to poach these guys into actual level or environment design jobs.
It is endlessly impressive how they're able to take assets from so many games and remix them into something that feels new and fresh.
