Midra moves with grace and elegance despite being the Lord of Chaos. Romina was once totally normal before she embraced the Scarlet Rot in her despair. It's like resisting the outer gods is what actually brings madness and pain (see: Vyke, Malenia, etc) but embracing them is like a rebirth. Of course, Midra is still an eldritch abomination who would burn the world to the ground and kill everyone if we don't stop him right then and there. But it's so interesting to compare the despair and painful desperation in his "endure" phase versus how calm and elegant he is when he embraces the Flame.
Not just elegance, euphoria. It's like he's just so relieved to finally let go and end it all. Especially in the actual ending, just that sinister elation that the Lord of Frenzied flame takes in all of the chaos amidst the cries of the dying
@@nickhard7615 Basically that yeah, i said it on another video but he moves with such an elegant grace and flow because for him, this moment is pure bliss, he is free, the sword is out of his body, he no longer has to endure god knows how many years of untold pain, he has been released of his duty and sways with newfound confidence and joy even in such twisted madness. Ironically while meeting the tarnished is the worst thing that cna happen to most bosses in the game for Midra it was the bets thing to ever happen to him no matter how brief the encounter would become.
Even more brutal when you consider Nanaya was likely a maiden of the 3 fingers and told him to "endure" in order that the flame of frenzy would fester and marinate until he could no longer hold it back. Midra was an extremely tragic character.

Y'know)
I had a personal theory that Marina was not the sole survivor of the Shaman village, but Nanaya was as well. Maybe she was brought to Bonney Village and was tortured to a breaking point before accepting the frenzied flame. Since the abyssal woods is downstream of the Bonney village region, it’s possible she escaped to that area and brought with her the frenzied flame faith. In essence, she would have been the reason for the frenzied corruption of the area.
unironically I think more boss showcases should be like this. A way to show off what the boss can do rather than trying to simply defeat it. You manage to capture a lot of Midra's moves very clearly and you make sure to not obliterate him too quickly. You also don't use many flashy moves on your own that could obscure the screen and make the fight less visible. Really made it feel like you and Midra were both dancing and fighting at the same time. Excellent work!
Honestly I love this fight, you're not fighting a God who seeks to retain the status quo or one who seeks to bring a new age into existence, no you're fighting the apocalypse, the end of everything that even the other gods couldn't hope to face, if you do not stop him now, you are dooming all of existence into becoming little more than a homogeneous molten slag, eternally burning, eternally doomed to the frenzy or depending on your playthrough, you could BOTH be the apocalypse incarnate, regardless of who wins and who loses, existence is doomed and you're simply fighting for the right to be the frenzyflames avatar who shall see it all incinerated

Man even your R2’s are in sync with the music (6:40). The gameplay perfectly fits all the key moments of the soundtrack. You did an amazing job with making everything look and sound as clean as possible.
as others have pointed out, it's cool how the attacks sync up with the music but the fluidity of Midra's movements, combined with some of your own attacks in time with the music, really makes this feel like a dance a dance between a god of Chaos and a foolish Tarnished
Was waiting for this video! This fight might be my favourite in the entire game alongside Promised Consort Radahn and Bayle, it is very atmospheric and you did a great job with the cinematic gameplay!

one thing i hate about fights with really beautiful OSTs is you die so much learning the fight that you begin to stop appreciating it because youre so tired of the fight
Your attack synchronization with the music at minute 6:40 gives me goosebumps. The final part of the soundtrack (my favorite part) with the bossfight cinematic is sublime. Honestly, an enormous piece of work

And evidently, they didn't learn. Because for every attack that actually has tight hitbox like Midra's spin, you will have the entire arsenal of Promised Consort.

Ok, the hitboxes of certain moves of certain bosses may be a little wonky but they also had to release the game. They couldn't just keep developing it for another 4 years. Midra is proof that some bosses need more rememberances, I would've killed to have flame of the fell god incant with a madness flavor on it, or having a weapon that shoots out frenzy flame pillars

as a greatsword lion's claw player, i never saw that midra had attacks on the first phase, he just tried to grab me. Seeing the poor old man crawling on the floor was sad.
This is such a beautiful fight. Midra and his theme are just majestic! I only wish he was not so underwhelming, and his attacks to be a bit more creative. Cus some attacks look like as if souls modders modded these attack instances. At least with how fromsoftware is spawning these cone-shaped frenzy flame waves.
I kinda like how weird frenzied flame behaves, it’s really otherworldly and sounds electric during some attacks. I don’t really know what else they could’ve done with his moveset, I think it’s pretty unique and creative but I also wouldn’t complain if they made it even more spectacular or varied
I agreed. Only the five combo swing and the sun explosion attack is newly seen. The other frenzy flame attacks just looks like the ones the player can cast. But it’s still one of my favorite bosses along side with Bayle and Mesmer, due to he’s simplicity, style, and music
I don’t know which bosses are gonna be next yet, but I‘ll keep it in mind. I might include a shield when I‘m doing a deflection/guard counter type build
Aka looney toons ahh edgy blade studier vs actual modest swordsman. Undid the man's stitches, but it had to be done, for his mix(up/)tape was too fire for the world. The crouch was funny to me, by the way. Here I thought "why not block it?" but there was another answer.
there needs to be alot less panic rolling and continuous straiffing to make it look cinematic. Try using attacks that lower your profile to use in place of crouching

It’s to show the whole fight, and all the attacks. It is much better to watch this instead of someone who beat the boss in 5 hits without showing all of what the boss can do.

Really scary to think that he could’ve removed the greatsword at any time but only held out for so long because Nanaya bade him to “endure”.

there needs to be alot less panic rolling and continuous straiffing to make it look cinematic. Try using attacks that lower your profile to use in place of crouching

Why such a passive gameplay?
It’s to show the whole fight, and all the attacks. It is much better to watch this instead of someone who beat the boss in 5 hits without showing all of what the boss can do.
this ^ and also I was attempting a no hit at the time and just tried to get back into his moveset but I ended up really liking the fight because the OST synced so well
