As the owner of an 82 feet (25 meter) riveted steel vessel my recommendation would have been to run as fast and as far away from that barge as you can. Now that you've already bought it, congratulation to your own piece of history. Welding riveted steel can be a challenge sometimes and I'm interested in upcoming videos. A minimum steel thickness of 4mm is recommended. Good luck!

5mm on the baseplate?! We might be being over-cautious but on the narrowboats in the UK (mine is 55 by 7ft- 16m by 1.8) our baseplates are around 10mm and you'd spot weld pits deeper than a couple millimetres and even overplating if excessively pitted or deeper!
Anyway, hope to see you enjoy whatever you make of the new vessel!

That JVC VHS Unit is one half of the unit. Brought back so many memories.
We had the identical AKAI unit (same machine rebadged) in 1982 and that unit had an optional leather shoulder case you slipped it into, and the port on the lower right is a Video Camera Hook up you screwed into it, and it was "Portable" Video system for 1982 standards. it has a rechargeable battery in the side. We "lugged" that thing all over Hong Kong where we lived in 1982/83, and then all over Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and then back home in Australia.
There is a second unit (a TV Tuner unit) which you hook that VHS part up to to complete the home setup. The VHS part recorded and played the tape. The tuner part allowed you to connect to the tv and change channels to watch / record.
Had a cabled remote that was about 10 meters long.
Lasted over 10 years in our home as the primary VHS unit we used.

Dude, if you either alone, or by investment (and outsourcing) finish ANY boatproject you have, You can start to rent the boat and use the money for finishing another projects and buying new boats. The house-boat is the best one, because you can rent it as a place for living, somewhere with reasonable mooring prices and extreme housing and rent prices. Many of such places in Germany around Hamburg... Or Berlin even...
Sugesting you to start a company, if so, you can buy the spareparts, colours, materials and services (possibly) witouth wat tax (i.e. cheaper than now probably).
