  • If you've been following my channel since it's inception, you know that I'm an avid bass angler. However, during winter, bass are very lazy when it comes to chasing lures. I had to find an alternative during winter to keep tight lines. I guess I found it!

Try a rapala x rap next time. It's more lighter but the lure tends to sink towards the bottom but reel it before it goes too deep. It will snag less.

If you're going for Rock Fish and Lingcod, use the lures in the video. Any soft plastic swimbaits like a Keitech or Pitbull tackle will work. Put those on a jighead as shown in the video. Color wise, anything Green Pumpkin, Root beer or Bright green/chartreuse works best. When you cast, let it fall to the bottom then hop them along the bottom. But be careful not to get snag. Above all, have fun. Tight lines. 🤙🏼

@@mrfilamfishing I hear ya, I'm more of a "active" fisher myself. Bait fishing tends to bore me. Have you ever heard of Poke Pole fishing? That's super simple yet effective on the Jetty! It is originally a Northern California style of fishing (if my bad memory serves me right). My buddy Tony and I were out there yesterday. (Bodega Head side) he poked and landed a 24" Monkey Face Eel that had to weight all of 4-5 lbs! Head on that thing was like a tennis ball!

I own G-Loomis rods for bass fishing and I don't disagree with you. However, for most people that can't afford it, the Ugly Stick is very tough to beat for price to performance. The one you see in this video they no longer manufacture. It was made a while back with Fuji guides and Fuji reel seats. This is also my oldest rod and I own plenty. I have thrown many things at this rod and it just keeps on going. It simply won't retire. It's why I named this rod Chief. The highest enlisted rank in the USAF. 🤙🏼
