@@Blackaddder Issue also is, many countries neighbour Syria, yet haven’t made much attempt to help them. It’s a complicated matter being a civil war, while Russia’s aggression is far clearer being an attack on a sovereign nation.
I hope, whatever the result from Ukraine, that more aid and attention will be paid to Syria. The people there deserve to live normally once again.

My mother was born in Syria.
She left everything behind her, her home, her school a lot of people from her family died because they had to fight in the war.
Even I'm sad because I could have lived in Syria. Only God knows how great it was back then but now it's only memories. Everything changed it's not the same anymore and never will be.
I fear that my grandparents won't see Syria again before they die. Sad reality. Still, I'm grateful that they escaped it.
Ps: ( they escaped because they wanted to take my uncle to fight in the war, they could have lost their son, but they escaped so I'm happy )
      Sorry for my bad English.

I will tell you what it feels like.
I lived some of my best childhood memories in Syria before all of this, it was heaven on earth if i dare say so. It was beautiful, dreamy, cozy.. i was supposed to continue my studies there but then all of this happened and i stayed in a country not my own and would never recognize me as a citizen despite being born there and living most of my life there, it felt as if i had no sense of belonging to anywhere, people spoke of my country as an another tragic story but then shifted to calling us a burden on their economy and wanted us out.
After the dust has settled a bit I am now here in what is supposed to be my home. But how can you call it a home if nothing in it is yours to begin with? Every good thing that i grew to know and love is gone. Dead dreams are everywhere, people are hopeless and are forced to live a life that they did not or ever asked for.
There is nothing. Not anymore, but the faint hope that echos, maybe some day there will be change, that i could finally come around to calling this place home. But now, there is nothing but the ruins of many lost, dead, childhoods, dreams and buildings that were once towering promising development and prosperity.
We are doing our best to pick up the pieces and it is slowly but surely coming together.
I hope that one day things get better and we will once again be recognized as actual people with worth.
Right now, i feel inferior to any person holding any passport different to mine because it reminds me of the nothing i came from.
All i ask is for me to be proud and happy again in my home.

@@kubamax9kubowski176 FALSE! the largest country that houses Syrian refugees is Turkey! And the second largest is Lebanon.
That is ofcourse, in comparison to their own population and capability to support refugees.
Turkey spent near 8 billion dollars in aid to Syria.
Despite what they did and what are doing now, they "were" (emphasis on that) our biggest supporter.
I know that Brazil and Venezuela also had a part and we are much grateful for that!
      Hope this helps.

There's no power in guilt we can take accountability and use that terrible pain and change our lifestyles I know that seems really odd but the only thing that runs these corporations is money and the only thing that feeds the money are all the civilians that feel the silver wrenching guilt of what the governments do and so the only power we have is our purchasing power and as weird as that sounds stopping our lifestyle literally not supporting them is the only way to take their military's down because then they won't have funding without their slave civilians working for it their economy will collapse without us and that's not a bad thing it's the only way to stop the wars

I don't know how old are you...but I feel lots of anger and despair for people these days, i lost my country years ago. People here -generation z, millennials and whatnot don't give a damn about anything but their phones screens: the endless posts on Instagram, the numbness of Tik Tok, the lost of any sense of privacy on social media. They say that this generation is smarter but i don't see it anywhere...typing fast is not smartness, not having a proper conversation with friends without scrolling on your phone doesn't make you smart. Ask people here about the environment and they don't give a damn...they always say that their hearts are moved to tears by these tragedies but only when your walls are blown, your water is poisoned and your sleep is robbed by nightmares...then you will understand and then really go and cry for what you have lost. We humans are a cancer to ourselves and to this beautiful planet.

But there is no point me being selfish and crying for me to then go on with my day and enjoy relative peace and stability. This is why I feel sick whenever anyone tells me "why do they come to our country when they can go to France" or when I hear "why do they come to the UK from France is France is a safe country?". Let them come flowing in, bring all the children here and believe you me majority of us would welcome them with open arms. At least here is a safer place then there for them. No child should ever be picking through litter and seeing dead bodies pile in the hundreds. its wrong and we have a moral duty to help fix it.

im half syrian who grew up overseas, my mom is so traumatized to the point where she never talks about syrian politics or syria in general, the only thing I get to know about syria thru her is movies/series, my nana and family back home, sometimes news as well, but she gets so heartbroken about it she cant even talk about it, i cant even learn about my culture and traditions because she gets a heartburn just hearing "syria", i had to learn everything on my own thru the internet and when i started asking her things about it she started slowly opening up, two years later we're still making progress, we watch syrian movies and films together, we talk about culture together, we talk about our family together, at times she gets teary and breaks down at the mention of the martyrs in our family (we have a really big family and lots of martyrs) but shes still holding on strong since she wants me to learn about syria.
the syrian war really ripped families apart and traumatized people, even ethnic cleansed them and made the newer generation of syrians who were born and raised in different countries become uneducated about their backgrounds, i pray for every syrian out there whether your in syria or out of syria, please don't forget about our families who are suffering back home, donate clothes instead of selling them, during ramadan try donating dates and canned foods, during the winter try donating blankets and jackets, any stuff that's in good condition that you don't need i can assure u that whoever gets it donated to them back home would be more than happy, yes donating wont stop the war but it will make these kids and adults happy and thankful, the smallest help could make a big difference please think about it.

What really started the war in Syria? It's so hard to know. At one time Assad was painted as a progressive and tge west loved him and his wife. She was featured in magazines. Then almost over night he was satan we had to destroy him. So what really happened do you know

I'm a syrian and i was only 6 years old when the war started and i have a younger sister, we used to fight sometimes just like any siblings but i never dared to let her sleep angry at me just in case one of us died the other won't live with the guilt and the argument being our last memory.
Also when i used to wake up in the middle of the night due to loud explosions and missiles i tried my best to fall back asleep very fast just because it would be more peaceful if i died in my sleep.

Oh yes, because its all the Syrians own fault right? Its all the Syrians and the Russians fault, and totally not that of the western powers feeding this conflict with weapons and ammo to keep it going, even after terrorists started to take over, and they knew full well that the weapons and ammo they were giving were ending up at the hands of these terrorists, and only prolonging the suffering and destruction of that country.

Only today we are taking conscience that WAR still exists.........because we are selfishly concerned THIS TIME. « As long as our only concern will be to stay alive, not HUMAN, nothing will change » G.
