- VINYL HAS SOLD OUT
My guest on the podcast this week is Bryan Garris, vocalist of KNOCKED LOOSE. They're just about to put out the album of the year 'You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To' on May 10th.
We talk ALL about that plus religion, playing coachella, and getting his eye ripped out by a beagle. Great lad. Great band. ≈

"You ever put Shrek 2 on and mosh for the whole fucking thing", is it to late to change my favorite quote for giveaway?
this might be the all timer for the whole fuckin podcast
also, you know some band is gonna put Shrek 2 on them on the LED wall at some point now
denied by fate?
This
666th like 😂
The calmest cat becomes the most unhinged beast when the beat drops. I love the contrast in Bryan.
I was at blueridge both years! A lot of people were waiting for sleep token when knocked loose played and had no idea what was about to happen when knocked loose came out. It was a legendary moment for me watching the sleep tokens fans fight for their life during knocked loose
I was at the very front of the GA crowd for Blue Ridge last year! My friends love both bands, so they brought me along - which was how Knocked Loose ended up being my first pit show. I'm so, so hyped to see them again next month
@@Confusion7182 that's awesome!!
Sleep token is ass
@@kingdick8390 who
i can vouch for that. it’s in the running to be to be my favorite knocked loose set. there was something so satisfying about watching that unfold 😭
Dude I hope the elderly woman from the plane story eventually hears the story for the album name, thats so fucking interesting.
Get that badge in Bryan. When you've got the podcast at 11 and Millwall at home at 3.
underrated comment😂
haaahahahaha
i’ve always loved how this podcast goes from asking a question from the notes to a conversation that branches off to completely obscure things that only a genuine chat between friends get
thank you. you get it.
I wish Bryan would do more long form like this. Quite an interesting guy.
Man i went to high school with Bryan. He was 2 grades above me. I never became close to him but I was always going to shows. I now live in Oklahoma and it is so awesome to see these guys killing it. Anytime i need a taste of home, i'll listen to Knocked Loose. They played in OKC on 5/4 and it was the first time i'd seen them since 2015 or so. What a fucking show
That’s rad they came to OK… i was perpetually disappointed when I lived in NE Oklahoma bc it seemed like every band I wanted to see either skipped OK entirely (but would have 3 fucking separate dates in TX) I moved to Denver 4 years ago, and everyone comes here- it’s been incredible. Definitely things I miss about OK too tho
You went to South Oldham? I went to a different school (in Etown) but I was involved in the scene & ran in the same circles. I watched him perform with Remember Me Always a couple times. He wasn’t known for being a nice person.
@@flaminhotyoshi7403 yep! I graduated in 2015. He was either 2 or 3 grades above me, I can’t remember
I can’t imagine seeing Bryan in school and the times after. Hella cool
@@KadenScottAnthony I rarely saw him tbh. My sister ran with a crew that shared some mutual friends though. I'd love to sit with him now and have a chat about oldham county. I used to skate with Issac's brother and some other friend's, but this was at a time when knocked loose was still beginning, so the hype wasn't full blown just yet
The KL LORE in this episode is pure gold. You can tell when artists pull from their own experiences to make their art because it always feels more personal and special. Brian is that kind of artist and it's so interesting to hear about the experiences that inspired him.
I think this is my favourite podcast episode of all time
Every time I load up a new downbeat
“It can’t possibly look any better than this, it just can’t be done”
And yet
I have the same blinking tic as Bryan, and it’s very rare that I’ve seen anybody else with that so the first time I saw it in one of his interviews I was basically like that Leonardo DiCaprio meme where he points at the screen. 😂
Bryan is my inspiration, im currently trying to make music and he, without a doubt, is the reason why im finally doing it after so many people have asked why I haven't. thank you for having him on! I hope to collab with him one day!
this is awesome, i’ve always wanted to make music in this similar style. i can’t say im a fan of knocked loose, but im a fan of the individuals in KL. especially bryan after this episode! so cool to see him inspire you to finally start music, maybe ill do the same one day
Sick conversation first off! I'm new to Knocked Loose an Bryan. I'm 42 an a snowmaker at a ski resort here in Maine. So I'm probably a little older than the rest of the fans. I've only been listening for a year. And what a year it's been! This music brings so many emotions out of me I love everything the band an their team is doing. I can relate to Bryan's religious beliefs and his past with religion. I grew up catholic in Massachusetts as an alterboy when all the priests stuff was going on. No it never happened to me. I say it's because I was a chubby kid but who knows with those sickos. Anyways I'm happy this video came across my algorithm it was great to hear Bryan speak because I've only listened to the music side of him so thank you for this. Hope everyone has a great day 🤘
this is the first podcast episode ever that I've watched all the way through. two genuine people
one of the best downbeat eps probably. great conversation.
Dude I'm so stoked the "Eye for an eye" line is being used again literally like the best scream ever.
Bryan getting the badge in, in case it kicks off.👊🏼
Wow great interview. Bryan is such a good dude. Him and the band deserve the best, cannot wait for the new album this Friday. Watch out for evil beagles
Really cool story about how he got the name for the album on the flight from that lady. Sometimes god talks to you in unexpected ways
I noticed the nervous blink. Super cute. I love it.
Been watching K//L from the start, knew i was witnessing something special, same feeling i got hearing Slipknot's st album when it dropped, haven't been disappointed one little bit, onward and upward lads, hail🤘
What a great talk, Brtan is such a cool guy. Can't wait for the album
this was so good, thank you for the amazing pod as always!
1:10:21. Wow, such a heartfelt and deep section. Bryan! Man, I want to give you a hug so bad. As a pastor, my heart breaks for you and what you experienced at church and the camp. I don't know the guy's heart who was involved in killing your friend, but as insane as it sounds, the forgiveness of Christ will extend to him as well. So many people are angry at the church for not being accepting and loving, yet this church is facing backlash for being accepting and loving. Think about that circular reasoning for a minute. I will leave you with this: Don't judge a philosophy by it's abuse. Look past the Christians and look at Christ.
By gig in Poland it was one of the greatest concerts in my 40 years of life.
I was going crazy and breathless in front of the stage in pogo. While I watched you guys you were mega professional.
Headbusa and DeafHeaven with you it was a beautiful mix.
So don't worry about the little people with the phone
I saw them with MIW and I was so excited to see them. Im going to see them in June. I swear I love Bryan and appreciate how honest he is. Such a great band.
Im terrified of flying too and this made me feel better.
I literally yelled "YEEEES" when I saw this upload.. about to dive in. THANKS BIG DOG
So thankful i just went to a slipknot show and got inteoduced to this band! They are so fire!! My dream concert would a ticket with knocked loose, spirit box and sleep token or invent animate......would be mind blowing!
HELL YES! The episode I was hoping for! Amazing work as always Craig. That vinyl is to die for
48:57 is giving supportive but concerned homie and i giggled so bad. love the story regarding the title.
One of the best so far!
I'm going to Lousiville to see them the 15th, i cannot wait!
I really related to the construction site story lol I used to climb all over the new houses that were being built near my childhood home and one day I slipped and there was a nail sticking out of the wood and it sliced open a small part on my stomach, scared the fuck out of me and still have the scar to this day.
I came just for KL on that polish Parkway Drive show, me and my homies loved it
THAT STAGE DIVE INTO THE DIRT SENT ME OVER THE EDGE OF EARTH, ITS FLAT BOYS
is it just me or does Bryan sound a lot like wendigoon when he talks
Holy shit
Holy shit youre not wrong. Kinda has the same monotone cadance as charlie a lot of the time too 😂
men do not emote as much as women jesus lmao
holy shit that’s why he sounded so familiar
14:44 was at Knotfest 2021. Knocked loose killed it and the festival as a whole was amazing
i love knocked loose and xweaponx so much. bryan is such a dope dude, i enjoyed this a lot!
Fastest 90mins in my life. I need another interview with Bryan ASAP!
I was at that show in Albany, KK definitely crushed, but KL’s set might have been my most intense experience in a crowd. Movements was also amazing. It was a stacked card. I took a video of “where light divides the holler” and it’s a miracle I didn’t lose my phone and got as much as I did lol
Dude a fvcking BEAGLE!?!?!!?
I still remember when knocked loose had 3k subscribers and now they have 10 times as many. Love and support to knocked loose🤟❤️❤️❤️🤟🤟
I love that his parents still have his artwork from school
Such a cool laid back soft spoken dude.. but once he hits that stage hes a fvccking MONSTER 👿❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
this was such an interesting interview, love the story about the new album title. I don't even listen to KL that much but saw them live with MIW and they were incredible
"dude it was a beagle" is my new fav quote!
Forgiveness is essential man. If you can’t forgive how can you expect to be forgiven? The sins of others is not your burden to bear.
Knocked Loose and Kublai Khan have the best interviews with you!!
I couldn't breathe after you said "its Coachella pay me a bag of peanuts."
36:00 I was at that Terror, Kublai Khan, Magnitude, Restraining Order show in Indy. That night they shut everything down. That show got me through the pandemic haha.
i thought i was crazy thinking the album art reminded me of briscoe park, i just audibly gasped like a movie character
I HAVE NEVER CLICKED ON A VIDEO SO FAST IN MY LIFE.
Shout out to the homie that stage dived at Coachella set lol
You guys on the same day as Meshuggah was amazing last year, hoping KL tour on the Motionless tour next year too
I need knocked loose merch now. Lol
got chills listening to the airplane story. cant wait for the album! great episode as always.
Only time ive ever been mad starstruck is walking past Bryan outside the venue they were about to play in Australia. Dude is humble as ❤
Awww his grampaaaaa! What a guy!
met bryan at the signing tent at bloodstock he was such a nice bloke
Craig, i got an extra ticket for June 6th in Montreal to see Knocked Loose. come. pause. but come.
12:28 13:01 im a huge Meshuggah fanboy and Catch 33 is my favorite album so hearing it refenced is sick
Is that collab album cover's artist the same that did surpassing the boundaries of human suffering by ingested? Cause this seems veeery similar
It’s not but I used it as a reference. Good spot
wish i could’ve caught them in nashville but they sold out, fucking great band and cool dudes
He seems so cool
That Bring Me set at download was fuckin crazy. Knocked loose were brilliant at SWG3 in Glasgow.
With him on weed. I've been edge since 96 and I honestly see more benefits in the use of weed for pain and more than anything else, including alcohol.
Bryan’s take on religion and god is so based
"Dude it was a beagle" gives same vibe as "Sir this is a Wendy's"
This was so enjoyable!
Best music podcast atm🔥
can't believe I found out Caged Existence isn't a band anymore through this.
this dude talking about KKTX being underrated is 10000% true they're so fucking good please give them love!
33:40 that was my first time moshing I remember that! It was in cologne shit was nuts!
Insane collab goddamn
Would love for Bryan to actually direct and create a real horror film
Who was the unsaid opener on that tour?
meshuggah mentioned 11:19
I live in Kentucky as well, so I know exactly what he means by the creepy churches in the country lol. 😂
Never clicked on a video so fast in my entire life
Does anyone know, when he’s talking about “Stevis” wanting to introduce him to Bring Me, is he talking about the Chariot/Fever333/House of Protection Stevis, or a different one?
that’s the only stevis
KNOCKED LOOSE MENTIONED!!!!! ARF ARF
Jesus...Veil of Maya Synthwave Vegan had a lot but this tops it.
Dude yessss!!!!
take us on tour pls
Brrroooo I fucked with you guys so hard back in the day!!! Bed, bath and Beyoncé, Dance War, and Synthesize make captain!!! 👌👌 chefs kiss!!!
I've been smoking since I was like 13, and I'm getting straight A's at Berklee College of Music, and already teach guitar full time. Pretty sure that the people who are 'brain dead" were already that way in the first place, and used smoking as an excuse to be that way. There have been MANY great thinkers throughout human history that were huge supporters of cannabis. There have also been 31 friends I've lost in the last 15 years since high school to opiate overdoses, many who were prescribed by their doctor. I think it's become pretty clear where the threat is coming from. And also pretty clear that the thing we've had for thousands of years, found in ancient mummy burials all over the world, is in fact not only dangerous but a basic facet of our society. Sorry people, but humans have been getting stoned since cavemen found fermented berries at the bottom of their cave stash. It's been hypothesized that part of the reason our brains tripled in size in the evolutionary blink of an eye, was from consuming the most popular mushroom produced by the game they were following, psilocybin cubensis. Or for those who have "weed brain" according to Craig, that's the scientific name for the most popular species of "magic" mushrooms. Turns out, the only thing that compares to the neural connectivity produced by hallucinogens, is when people are having a seizure, or when a master meditator is asked to meditate during a brain scan. That'd be a HUGE advantage, inventing tools and weapons to survive. Not saying we 'need' them, but there's NO doubt or speculation as to how much these things have influenced our world. The structure of DNA was discovered/realized from a scientist on LSD. To totally deny that they have a part in our world, is to deny human nature and deny something that has given us great advantage over other animals. So, ya know, maybe don't be a straight up biggot and hate others for their views like most straight edge people? At least that's been my experience. If you had a joint at a certain show when I was younger, you were getting in a fight over it. Luckily for me and my friends, it didn't take very long before they got sick of injuries and their parents calling the venue over black eyes only to get told that it was THIER kid who started it. Cops would get called over sXe b.s. all the time to the venues. just because they thought they were better than everyone else. I agree with 99% of their mentality, they lose me when it comes to hating others for what may not have even been their own decision. Probably why the movement is dead compared to awhile back.
So gutted the down beat vinyl sold out 😫
Wonder if Bryan noticed the video of Billie eilish side stage during the set jamming out
Yo no one caught that stage diver at 20:07
Their shows & crowd go hard as fuck!!! People get hurt & it’s so reminiscent of the early90s lol
@nikkiforrester740 that one kid was going hard. This crowd sucked. No one ever ducked someone when I was going to shows. Hardcore isn't dead. It's just not mainstream.
@@opiedrums6969 I mean, I’ve never personally went to one of their shows, but I’ve watched quite a few live stream of their shows and it looks like the crowd goes fucking nuts
@nikkiforrester740 their typical crowd yes. Granted, this crowd is moving. But if you're just gonna literally move out of the way of a stage diver and let him eat the floor. Then you don't belong at a hardcore bands set. (Yes I know this isn't a regular metal or hardcore fest.)
Fack off mate @22:50 what was that 🤣dude we're always the butt of the joke 💀
Bruh Slaughterhouse 2?! Fuck gonna end us all! 💀🤘🔥🔪
wait i have the exact same relationship with my brothers and we play fortnite to chat and shit all the time and have a group text and everything those are my boys for life
Bryan if you read this...call your grandpa more often. I'm old enough to be your mom so I come from experience. I would give anything to hear my grandpas voice one more time. Anyone reading this...call your mom...dad or grandparents, they miss you.
Get the foking badge in Bryan
"The slaughter house tour' would print money fuck!
love this band so much, as a brother in Christ, i love u bryan. come to the true church, catholicism 🙏🏽✝️
The first time I ever saw Knocked Loose was that first American tour for Craig. Took a train to Chicago to see STYG, Stray, Knocked Loose, and Expire. Was sick af truly
1:01:43 "Religion is the worst thing that ever happened to God" holy fuck dude
I wonder how much the Coachella offer was- $15,000? More?
The award for the person I’d least expect to wear a stone island goes to …
we need nik nocturnal on downbeat 🙏🙏
