2 legends chatting drums and shit, like they have known each other forever, bloody brilliant, loved it and well done Simon on your first day at drum school, big love to you all ❤
Absolutely love the honesty and transparency in the beginning about not wanting to be on the podcast from Chris and you guys hashing it out in front of us
This ep was really nice, because it wasn't the usual format of Craig, asking questions, guest responds, Craig Annecdote, Move on. It was organised Chaos, interjections from simon with back up on points, also Simon being the best producer and reminding them where they were if they lost their point in the conversations. Also, my favourite parts were where Chris asked Craig questions, because it's nice to see Craig relax and answer questions about himself rather than worrying about it being all about good high quality content. It was like being sat in a pub and listening to two new mates shoot the shit. Good work!
Hi! “Pleasant American Man” here (1:10:10), thank you both for the in depth response! I put 95% of my energy into drumming and virtually none of it on mixing or engineering (I also pay friends to help with that) but I’ve always wondered if this was holding me back. I have goals of being a serious session drummer / content creator, and I always assumed that people like Chris knew how to do it all themselves. So, it’s great to hear that even legendary drummers don’t know this stuff by default, and also that engineering is the more important of the two for a drummer to master so they can at least record themselves and send it to a professional mixer. Much love to you both (and you too Simon!!) - the downbeat community fucking rules ❤
After watching this I think James is taking the piss implying Chris is misogynistic. He's super chill and how he was straight about why he first didn't come on the podcast was super down to earth and transparent.
@@n1gh7m4re After watching Chris TH-cam videos, there is no way that you can tell me that there is any tension in oceans ate alaska in general. All of those guys are just super nice and down to earth.
When I first started following you, it was for stray and drum videos. I went through the backlog of podcasts and listened to interviews with people/bands I liked. After the kublai khan episode, I just listen to all of them. Absolutely top notch. I don’t listen to a lot of these bands, but these podcasts are always amazing.
When I started listening to this podcast, I wasn't expecting that each episode would make me laugh out loud multiple times. Take your fucking quid, Craig.
Fuck me, this was the best bromance-podcast ever! Could not stop watching it and could not stop smiling/laughing either. Genuinely happy for both of you that the hard work over the years paid off. Shout out to "Simon the Sidekick" for doing a banger job at using search engines and making edits that are buttery smooth and that one cut that genuinely had me questioning if there even was one at all(when Craig listens to the new OAA track). Ya'll a junch of fucking legends!! Thanks for great entertainment😘
Had the chance to have a 1 on 1 with Chris a few years back, he helped me start to get a grasp on music theory which helped me tremendously in terms of writing and explaining sections of tracks to band mates and clients I’m working with. Happy this this chat happened 👏🏻
Craig, these interviews just keep on getting better, mate. I've been along for the journey for a while and the progression is crystal clear. But you've still retained what makes you "you".
Absolutely incredible episode. And there's so much more you guys need to talk about, right at the end of this one you started getting into a whole other episode of topics. We need Chris Turner, on The Downbeat Podcast, 2. Also I bounce between the video and audio only versions as i go about my day, and when one of those burps hit I genuinely thought spotify had randomly started to play some hardcore breakdown or something, just a super loud "BLLEEERRRGH" out of nowhere. Man needs to do some guest vocals.
loved ittt the episodes that have me laughing every 30 seconds always end up being my favourites and this was definitely one lmao we’re so back 😂 also congrats on your debut simon! 🎉
Amazing video , loved it , I have met Craig Reynolds at the drum show in Manchester after his play ( thanks for the pic and chat) I missed Chris Turner , maybe one day I will catch him somewhere in UK 😊 btw I could watch another one of these so please let's have another episode of you two in the future 😊
Think this might be the best episode. Been a day 1 listener and I’m learning so much just from re listening to episodes and old episodes. Recording the debut EP with the band this year and can’t wait to use all the tips from my favourite metal boys ❤ Chris is such a great guy have gained so much respect for you both for being so open and humble big love
I remember like 4 years ago or something like that I recommended on stream that Craig interview Chris and he responded with something like "I can't interview every drummer from every shitty metalcore band, don't care if they're from England". And now here we are. Love Chris, love the pod!
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Both you guys are fantastic and I'm super appreciative of all the hard work you put into your jobs/crafts. Thanks for letting us all come along for the ride.
This was fucking great! I think all the misunderstandings and miscommunications played into an epic comeback story. Great guy. Great chat. Loved it! This might be my new favorite!
As someone who personally knows Chris and has been friends with him for years…I can confirm that everything that James has come out with is pure nonsense. Chris is genuinely one of the most humble and open-minded guys I know. He’s such a caring & fun dude and I can assure all of you that he has nothing against anyone, race, sex or other! Chris is a top dude through and through! 😎
Just watched the 40 roll reaction & yeah Chris was kinda tripping cause the whole time Craig kept saying, "its crazy, but i think this dudes legit. & if it is hes the most insanely consistent drummers alive" Crazy compliment
Looking forward to seeing where the new direction of OAA goes, I have to say if it is more like Chris's solo stuff I think it's going to be right up my street
@@reynlord666 well... You were right!I have to say it's the first song by them as OAA not individuals that I've liked. Unfortunately some pretty heavy, tomahawk steak sized beef has accompanied it. So hopefully whatever is going on can be resolved amicably 🫣
i had a partial tear of my pulley in my finger and my god i couldnt hold a controller or remote for like 2 weeks and you could forget opening doors, took me a year to get back to a 60 sec dead hang off a bar
I got a confession to make: when I first saw Chris play, because, specially the face, and the whole way he plays, I though he had some disability and was even more impressed, but then I saw he was actually normal and I felt really bad of my thoughts lmao
This was a fun podcast, thank you as always🖤 and Simon(?) doing a great job! „x stuff is when no money“. How detached from reality do you need to be?🙄 I’m sorry, that kind of thinking just pisses me off. Do those people that think like that work for free, I wonder?
Soooooooooo stoked for this episode! If Chris Turner is god.......does that make Craig the Virgin Mary?!?! Just f*ckin with ya, Fellas! This episode is legend.....and I haven't even started it yet! 🤘😝🤘

The zoom in on the burps is killing me 😭😭😂
Not a drummer just here because I love both of these guys
Chris had major seeking Dad's approval vibes thru this whole episode esp the more beers he drank 😂
loved the increasing use of "innit?" .
I would be seeking Craig‘s approval too! He’s a chad

I'm so happy Chris is doing his own thing. He easily outpaces most bands with his own producing / writing that would have him as their drummer.

You a fan of cars and drift too? Music and cars, the quickest way to be broke 😂
I'm only going through the comments to see who else is spying the Driftworks merch
Loved this chat! Huge fan of Chris and OAA
Chris has written drum notation for an Oceans song by hand one time, and I bought it from him. The song is Blood Brothers. Such a cool piece to own.
Omy fuggg so much knowledge! You 2 are legends!
Take care Ola, hope you and the fam make a speedy recovery 🤘
