Wow! Saw CoF live at Rockhouse Salzburg somewhere in the mid-late-90s and had a nice chat with the guys later that night. So this here is going to be one of my favorite episodes. So many memories!
I was at that tour in philadelphia electric factory with type o neg n moonspell. Cradle also did a meet n greet on that date at the now defunct relapse records store in south street.
They were friends with Biohazard. Actually Peter gave them the name. They used to call him the Jolly Green Giant. I heard this straight from the source.
Cruelty was always my favourite album of theirs in spite of the production. In fact, it's just one of my favourite records. Just about fucking came when I heard the remastered drums kick in on Thirteen Autumns and a Widow. It's perfect now.
This was great! Im 40, been into COF since i was 12/13 years old. Genuine guy. Perfect interview/podcast. Respect to you both. You nailed it. Sounds like me and my friends.. we just arent famous 😂
@@VoodooChaos As Chuck says, parts were on the PanDaemonAeon DVD. They have put up some of those tracks on TH-cam with video. It is PEAK Cradle in their classic era. Chills every time I see it. It is the last thing I want from the Cradle Vault.
Damn dani filth, oh man I remember listening to Midian for the first time and I was blown away. Dani is one of my favorites he's a small man but his energy and presence is big when he gets on stage
I saw Type O at the Metro in Chicago on their October Rust tour. They had little bare trees in the front of the stage, and Peter had his chain strap with his bottle of red on his rack to his right. The whole show was amazing, but when the snow started coming down, it was magical. Mind you, I was a 14-year-kid, but I was looking around like it was really snowing. I’ve seen a lot of cool shows, and I know that Peter mocked the idea on their DVD, but thinking back on that moment brings tears to my eyes. Dusk and Her Embrace was a high school favorite for me too, as well as a massive literary influence.
Type O Negative getting the love and respect they deserve. Very cool. I will forever regret not seeing the Cradle/ Type O tour. Two of my favorite metal front men. I did see Type O Negative on the OCTOBER RUST tour. That is a cherished show attendence.
Amaaaazing interview. Could listen to Dani all day long. But Dani...Come on...Midian is friggin perfekh. No no need to remaster that gem :) Eitherway .Greetings from Norway ,Stefan :)
Yeah that one don't need a remaster, that's such a trend lately. TH-cam is muddying the classics by having all the remaster stuff first in search results too
CoF has been one of my favorite brands since the early 2000s. What a fantastic interview!!! Dani is always such a joy to watch 🖤 Hello Fresh needs to do an ad with Dani 😂
I know two people who’ve hit Dani Filth. Two. In completely unrelated incidents. Only time either of them have ever been violent, they’re the chillest people you could meet. Dani’s ability to get a rise out of people is impressive.
@@Jonathan_Doe_ I can remember hearing back in the day that dani was a prick from a few people who met him, this was early 2000’s though so he may have calmed with age and lack of alcohol
Haha thats got to be Spring Vale studio Dani was talking about. My band practiced and recorded there 20 years ago and the owner wouldn’t stop talking about how Cradle “recorded” there 😂
That was a brilliant interview, I have never seen the guy interviewer but he’s got a great personality and Rappor with Dani and asks very good questions and you can tell he’s done his background on him. Big thumbs up loved it 🥰. I definitely would love a Dani filth house tour tho 😊
Been a fan of COF's since around 95/96 its always great watching Dani in interviews listening to his stories his poetry is incredible i wish he would release a book of his words. I remember seeing them at Ozzfest i think in 2002 at Donnington and the weather was on another level of HOT!! then COF came on and it went black and pissed down for the full show hahaha Dani even joked something about "as you can see we hired the clouds for todays set" haha brilliant!
Never been a huge Cradle fan, I like bits and bobs, saw them at Hellfest one year and was blown away by how good they sounded. Always loved Dani though, incredible interview!
Good interview that. Would have been good to hear more stories from the early 90s period. Principle to Cruelty are untouchable and the soundtrack to my teenage years. Here’s a story. Around Dusk era Cradle were playing at the legendary Bradford Rios (RIP) with Dominion (Blasphemer) opening. Great show from both. Anyhoo, Dani had been pestering a girl we all knew from nights out and she warned him to leave him alone, he continued. She punched him and sent him flying in front of us all in the car park. She went on to be the mother of my daughters 🤣 She was also the first recorded female death metal vocalist.
I've been listening to Cradle of Filth since 1998 so I'm very familiar with their music. I'm really curious what Dani Filth thought about Nosferatu. I watched on Christmas day and liked it a lot. I do like how he caught himself when he almost gave away the title to song that him and Ed Sheeran did. This interview was amazing!
I was a HUGE COF fan when I was like 16 and I lost touch with their stuff over the years. I wasn’t expecting to see them again on a reel about them doing a collab with ed sheeran 😂😂 but I’m into it!
Dani filth got the proper "reverential" glazing he deserved here. Absolute legend. This is my first time watching the Downbeat because I took issue with SFTP but I am realizing that the devil and God are in all of us and its a better life to let people be flawed and enjoy their good sides - including myself. Keep up the great podcasts.

2003 Blood for the Blood Gods tour with Type O. I’ll never forget it. Type O was dressed in jail jumpsuits and Peter drank like 3 bottles of wine and ripped his bass strings off at the end of their set. I think they came out to the theme song to the show COPS.

Dusk and Her Embrace first, then Midian, then whatever else is a great start

Yeah Dusk is the best black metal album ever made.

Big congrats Craig! Dani’s music has been a part of my life since I was 15 years old. Such a fuckin great interview.
Hell YES. Dani Filth is the man. "Cruelty" and "Damnation" are two of the best metal albums ever!
Yes!!! Cradle of filth is one of my all time favourite metal bands!!! Such a treat for a fan like me! Thank you Craig!!
I still chuckle to myself about Dani’s “Who throws an apple? Wanker.” at download 06.
Hahaha I second that!

This was such an amazing interview! And watching you just absolutely gush talking to Dani was awesome, what a legend 🤘
I love everything about this interview but come on Dani, the mix on Midian is absolutely perfect already!
@@walkintom nah remix it. Guitar tone is a little tough on the ears and the whole album sounds slightly distorted.

Went to school with a kid who would without fail, play cradle of filth riffs on his acoustic every lunch time. Growls and all

Can SOMEONE please ask Dani to release the ENTIRE concert from The Astoria in 1998??? It's LEGENDARY!

Beneath the Howling Stars was the very first black metal song that I heard. I was hooked on Cradle and black metal at that exact moment.

My favorite lyrics of all time
Snuffed tapers sighed
As Death left impressing
His crest of cold tears on the Countess
Benighted like ill-fated Usher
The House of Bathory shrouded
'Neath griefs dark facade
If only I could have wept
In mourning by Her side
I would have clasped Her so tight
Like storm-beached Aphrodite
Drowned on Kytherean tides
And Kissed Her
For from Her alone
My lips would have known
Enigmas of shadowy vistas
Where pleasures took flesh
And pain, remorseless
Came freezing the breath
Of raucous life hushed unto whispers
Benighted.
Great interview
