The fact that Enel was beaten by an unawakened God means no mortal has beaten him. His God complex is thus still valid.

@@gold3374 maybe because those ppl didn't binge one piece and actually have spent some time with this character. But for me, the main reason probably will be his character and the aftermath of the fight between Enel and MDL. When he literally kickstart his heart, yells YOLO and fly to the moon like nothing has ever happened. He is a unique antagonist so that's why.
@@gold3374 cool design, fun powers, likable character, the only villain so far to actually achieve their goal, served as an interesting early-series parallel to the celestial dragons. his cover story is also way too significant of a lore drop especially with relatively recent revelations in the story so im more invested in his return now than ever before.

Enel didnt loose the war.. he actually won it. Sure he did not destroy Skypeia but that was just a side quest for him. He wanted to go to the Moon and he managed to do that. Hes the only Villain who lost to Luffy in a fight but who still managed to fulfill his Objective. Thats why i love him :D
Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't he actually destroy Skypea, while the Skypeans evacuated on ships, but not destroy Upper Yard?

@@troykv96 More than half. Aside of Angel Island he also destroyed the Heavens Gate and the Hidden Village of the Shandians, which both were located in Skypiea. And even Upper Yard experienced damages, albeit no total destruction.
@@DigitalXAddict Yeah, I forgot to mention the other places in Skypeia besides the main ones, regardless, my "half-done" it wasn't suppose to be very literal, just that Enel didn't finish his side-quest.
Enel's always been my #1 villain. The casual brandishing of world ending power is so well done. He adapted very well to Luffy's pokemon rule and even after Luffy nullified his haki, used physics to win by putting the gold ball on him and throwing him off the platform. His ability to go from deathly serious to calm conversationalist to absolutely shocked super jackass clown is just phenomenal.
He could come back and do pretty much anything and fit in. He could be a villain again, he could be neutral or he could be an ally and it'd fit in perfectly because he has the personality range for it.

I was actually disappointed by enel and I’m starting to realize it was just me. Like I thought he was badass until we learned that his power was lightning. At that point he stopped being threatening at all cause obviously luffy wouldn’t be able to be hurt by electricity. Plus his electricity was doing like nothing. Bro usopp took that and was fine (plus the other like 20 people that got blasted with it and were a-okay afterwards.
@@austinbender8333tbf Usopp has literally taken an attack that according to Chopper, broke nearly every bone in his body and left him dead for a few minutes. Most of the Straw Hats have tanked much worse, especially Zoro and Usopp considering they have no enhancements like say, Sanji. The real reason Eneru is a great example of power is his El Thor which has literally destroyed an island. The only other thing in One Piece that did that was the weapon that obliterated Lulusia. Give him a New World buff and he could be Yonko/YC1 level easy

@@Subpar1O1yeah like I don’t dislike him and I understand the threat of him, just at that point in the story I think in hindsight made him look worse to me cause I was comparing him to crocodile, who actually represented a threat to luffy as well as everyone else. I also was disappointed by lucci too cause I was still comparing him to crocodile. Pretty much the perfection of crocodile ruined all of the pre-timeskip villains for me I think.

Enel's cover story makes me wonder. Does Enel and other Logia users need to breathe? Green Bull doesn't need to eat, and Ace is the only one I've ever seen sleeping. Maybe Logias only have to meet the survival needs of whatever element they're made of.

For me, the best thing about Skypia was Noland's flashback. Up until Big Mom's and Kuma's backstories, I considered it the greatest one in One Piece.

Can we just talk about the fact that Enel took on a form based on a god he read about. And the form was gear 4. On top of that he uses the drums of liberation to empower his abilities.

It does make it seem Like Enel drew on the form of Gear 4 from somewhere. Not that he literally uses gear 4 because obviously his lightning fruit couldn't recreate the effects of bounce man

I think Skpeia is a mirror preview of Imu and the Gorosei. Eneru mirrors Imu, The Gorosei are the priests, the God’s Knights are God’s army. Maybe Wiper is Dragon and Ganfal (actual Ganfal not the gorosei one) is one of the marines.

Bet. Oda always said it was a trial run for the ending arc. I'm betting similar for Long Ring Long Land and Laugh Tale. Super happy about that as Skypeia was my favorite story arc and LRLL was my favorite "fun" arc.

i am 100% percent convinced Enel will be back and he will play a major role in the final arc of this story including the real world history and the relation of the other races and the alien empire, the skypians, ancient city, the ancient weapons all of them. Hell im convinced that Uranus is probably the very spaceship that landed in the world of one piece centuries ago. Maybe Imu is actually an alien of that race. either way this will be epic.
I also love that Robin conversation. Because Enel is so into it, and is legitimately excited when he realizes that the bell must be up there because of the story of upper yards appearance.
Enel is not a slouch, you said the battle was one-sided but even without fruit powers he's still make some damage to Luffy, with his stuff and observation Haki he's one of the most skilled combatants at that moment in story
Agree. He was shocked by Luffy's immunity to his lightning but deduced that slashing/stabbing works best pretty quickly and was in general very creative and smart fighter.
Enel is a slouch in every sense of the word. If he comes back he has to be stronger , if not literally everyone can one shot him. He lost to a gearless Luffy

Luffy also had a series of lucky breaks that assisted him in beating Enel. Like the Golden ball Enel gave him out of ego.
Though at the very least you are still correct that he would need to come back stronger. At the very least he needs armament haki.
Enel was one of my favorite villains. When he was introduced, he felt invincible. None of the Strawhats, even the monster trio, could do anything. In previous arcs, the goal always felt achievable, but before the reveal of Luffy being immune, this was the first time where the villain was truly unbeatable. I also love how he still achieved his goal, even after losing. If you think about it, it's also really clever from a meta-perspective. Oda guaranteed that the godly Rumble fruit would be unusable as long as Enel still had it up there.
people been debating whether the best sniper in one piece is usopp, yasopp, beckman, or van augur. but honestly, enel has the best sniping feat so far with that pinpoint remote lightning strike

was there any character in One Piece before Enel, who apparently could hear anything the people "around" him where speaking? and could use those words to target those people pretty accurate even from miles away? today we know it was some extreme form of observation haki - but what an ability. i bet it surpasses the most advanced OH-users even today.
idk if he has future sight BUT i think its even more impressive that he can literally use his mantra (obs haki) to survey his ENTIRE kingdom and smite people with lightning from anywhere in skypeia. that is horrifying power.

I still maintain Dragon was listening in on Luffy and Smoker, likely Luffy and Buggy on the platform, long before Dragon helped save Luffy in Loguetown.
Maybe could be argued that's how Mihawk followed Don Krieg to exactly where he was, Mihawk was using advanced observation haki.
Always was implied Yasopp is a great sniper, so I imagine he has some advanced observation haki.
Van Augur was sniping seagulls above the Sunny from miles away when Chopper noticed, I think that was the beginning of Jaya so right before Skypeia.
We don't know much about Crocus, but I've always thought he was much more powerful than he let on. Not like a Yonko power but he could handle his own when aiding Roger if Crocus happened to be up against some of the stronger Whitebeard Commanders.
Pretty sure he uses his haki in conjunction with his df so that strengthens it. Like electric signals or smth

this was always one of my favourite arcs in one piece and in my first watch it had my attention more than anything prior in east blue, the introduction of the dials to augment characters like Usopp and Nami, the introduction of some a lore filled world IN THE CLOUDS, and this terrifying godlike antagonist that felt capable of whiping the whole crew in an instant at many points leading up his encounter with luffy

Given how the Five Elders are named after planets or stars, the fact that Eneru is based on the moon can't be a coincidence. The strongest people and things in One Piece all share the convention of being named after something space related, like the Gorosei, Pluton, Neptune, and the other weapons. Eneru is literally on the moon, I'd be surprised if he didn't come back.
Luffy is the sun
Enel is such an amazing character. His total disregard for anything that doesn’t directly entertain him is amazing. The killing games in upper court, watching Sanji get zapped with complete boredom, it’s so good. He’s a sociopath. Through and through. Amazing writing from Oda to characterize him like that

Skypia still one of my favorite arcs.
Felt like one of the most mysterious, adventurous, and “pirate-y” arcs ever.
Unless Enel somehow learned Armament Haki or displayed a Logia Awakening, he's gonna be Yamcha-ed by the so-called Blue Sea Dwellers with their Armament Haki to bypass his lightning form.
To be honest he would still be a glass canon with high movement speed.
Im sure he at least awakened his devil fruit at this point
He adapted to Luffy being able to touch him. Also, while no one in story has yet done this, he could in theory just break haki by spamming lightning and teleporting away.
idk why people always say this. him returning doesnt mean he needs to suddenly be a powerhouse and hold his own against luffy or any of the endgame villains. his return is going to be about the discoveries he made on the moon and how they connect to the void century, hes not going to pull a rob lucci and come back just to have a rematch with luffy (though a rematch is certainly possible). also, its been two years, he easily could have awakened and/or learned other types of haki in that time, plus he has an army of robots. and who knows what else was on the moon for him to have discovered that other characters in the story havent that could give him an advantage in a fight.

Well Foxy is a great villain. Katakuri on the other hand is very overrated, to put it in a few words...
The fact that Foxy actually was able to get into a punch-out with Luffy *at all* even if he didn't win the clash is frankly impressive as fuck. Like, the man went punch for punch with a Gum Gum Gatling for several seconds straight while eating hits from it over and over again and he *still* kept on punching. Ignoring *everything else* about the dude, his physical stats were actually impressive as hell in context. Luffy is a straightforward brawler type and Foxy is a trickster type, but Foxy *still* had the physical stats to get into a slug-out with Luffy.
We've seen Luffy destroy buildings with his bare hands. Luffy was physically strong enough to go blow for blow with Arlong who was casually turning houses upside down. Foxy fought a Luffy who had also been through Enel and Crocodile so had to be proportionally even stronger than that. The conclusion from this is that Foxy could very well be at *least* as physically strong as Arlong was, which is concerning as hell when you apply that information to a fight with a normal person and add on his slow-slow powers.
Foxy is only a joke because his opponent was Luffy. Against anyone who isn't a complete outlier, Foxy is kind of a ringer. @@wickerman2817

Skypeia introduced us to the Gorosei, Whitebeard, & the Black Beard Pirates as the Straw Hats were in Jaya making preparations. Then when we get to Skypeia itself we find a dictatorship supposedly run by God & the 3 Hour Contest was incredible as was Deathpeia. It was better than the arcs that came before it & this was where the slow death of Going Merry that would be a huge part of Water 7 started.

@@bmoney3837 Water 7/Enies Lobby & Sabaody/Marineford give it real competition & let's face it they surpass some of the later arcs of One Piece. Whitebeard in his death foreshadowed exactly how the series will end over the next 5 Years. Egghead is shaping up to be S-Tier & we can only imagine what will happen when Enel returns in the coming arcs.
People underestimated Skypeia for nearly 15 years & now some believe that Uranus may be on the White Sea & that the true entrance may be at Elbaf. The sky was a perfect place for hiding lore like Nika thanks to its isolation. I can't wait to see what Oda writes the next few years.
Loving this new video series format by the way, Liam. Idk if you meant it that way but it feels like you took our old fan favourites of the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia and the OP essential essay format and found a way to revamp them. Hope it's working for the algorithm!
As a person who suffers from having read Skypeia back when I was a kid and heavily underestimating/misremembering Enel, this video made me fall in love with him as a villain

Have we ever considered the world nobles attempting to escape to the moon? They have literal space suits, what's stopping them from just peacing out and attempting to survive from the destruction that's about to befall them? That would also give us the re-introduction of Enel we've been waiting for, forcing a fight with them and possibly even conquering them or teaming up with Luffy to defeat them on the moon.
I've always loved Enel. Ever since I was a kid, I've always been fascinated by angels and holy imagery, so Skypeia was always one of my favorite arcs, and I had never seen anything quite like Enel as a kid, so he fascinated me. The themes, the design (I wasn't nearly as familiar with Eastern mythologies as I am now), the presence, everything, it was amazing to me. Nowadays I play a lot of Shin Megami Tensei, which explores a lot of divine ideas and especially the idea of a false or unworthy yet still overwhelmingly powerful God archetype, so I can appreciate Enel and everything he represents now more than ever. And his cover story is easily one of my favorite for all of those reasons, seeing where a god goes after he's ripped from his golden throne. I'd personally put him in S tier, but everything you said about the loss of threat when Luffy showed up, and the comparisons to the much more built-up Crocodile and Doflamingo (side note, ever notice how like half of the best One Piece villains are named after animals?) are valid and understandable, so I can see the reasoning for the A tier placement instead.

LOL.. Yeah I believe Enel will definitely be back in the Post Timeskip era haha! Not to mention become an unlikely ally to Luffy and Dragon. We've seen him slowly gathering some army of robotic creatures across the various moons around the World of One Piece. He's building an army most likely to take back with him to take on the World Government. Based on the fact that the Celestial Dragons pushed out a race of 'sky people' from the red line in the first place.. Enel may be trying to get revenge for his ancestors....
Honestly it would be pretty hilarious in the final fights around the world Government if Enel was returning planetside with his army just for his entire to force to Take and TANK a blast from Uranus or Imu on the way down and indirectly become a hero himself of that country in the process. I very much want to see this happen and think it could lead to some real comedic scenes lol!
I have a good feeling Enel and Dragon both have Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits as well, but Enel's wasn't yet awakened..and therefore he was stuck with its base form which turned out to mimic that of a lightning logia. Dragon most likely has awakened his already and thus having an opposite fruit of the five elder stars that would easily already make him an enemy to them regardless of his Revolutionary Army..... I'm almost certain based on all of the Japanese or Eastern Themed Deities we've seen in the story already that Enel and Dragon both respectively have the Mythical Zoans that represent Raijin and Fujin. The Japanese Deities of Thunder and wind. To me this would just make perfect sense... The Pokemon trio of Tornadus, Thunderus, and Landorus believe it or not originally got me thinking about this back in the day as people would talk about which Japanese deities they were supposed to take after. Landorus for some reason in the series was closely related to the 'sun' or the 'sun stone', which I figured was strange because there was no deity for the sun that was related to Raijin or Fujin in Japanese mythos unless you could Amaterasu I guess lol!
There's only one moon that Enel went to, we also only ever see a single moon in the sky. The moon has been a plot point multiple times yet they never once mention there being more then one. The "evidence" people point at to claim there are multiple moons is very clearly a geocentric planetary armillary sphere.

I think it's also pretty cool how luffy's big final attack in the arc where the sun god was revealed utilised a big gold ball which is basically a sun.

Not gonna lie, I think Skypiea is one of my least favorite arcs. But most people tend to hate the lore because it gets in the way of the fights, I actually hate the fights and I think they get in the way of the lore wich is a lot more interesting to me.
The fact that Oda chose gods theme in Skypea, hinted to Nika, word plays like Luffy and Zoro being against god, mantra, Monblands story kida parallel to Roger etc. makes that arc absolute top for that time. How some ppl can skip it?

Arlong should be next. He was seriously the first villian that felt insurmountable and the emotional pay off of being freed for Nami was the turning point for me. Yes this is still a fun, goofy, whacky pirate adventure but dont be fooled. There is still darkness in Odas world and it is closer than we had thought.
ENEL is a cool character and I would like to see him come back. I would love to see NAMI and ENEL to fight eachother to see who has the stronger lighting ⚡️.
Imagine immediately after Luffy defeats Imu, Enel is revealed to have taken over the heavily weakened world government, and begins starting a new world order with his robot army from the moon, and becomes the next major villain Luffy has to defeat.

Skypia was my favorite ark, when I was told people skipped it, I was baffled, I could understand how important this ark was on my watch through.
Skypia is the purest for of adventure that SHs ever had.
I'm just gonna say that the first episode on One Piece I caught on TV as a kid was one in Skypiea and Enel made me wanna search this "cartoon" (i was a kid) and see more. Luffy was just a goofy guy in my eyes but Enel's presence was what stayed with me and made me look for One Piece

have to agree, Enel is one of my favorite villians of one piece but i also love skypia. the story line with Merry and Usopp hits me so hard over and over thruout the series and the culmination of that story probably hit me the hardest in the whole series. i remember having to pause at Merry's funeral because i couldnt see what was happening because i was openly crying too hard. i really hope that Enel does come back, even if its for a gag bit about how strong the crew has become in his absence cause its been too long and we need another Enel shocked face meme.
As some one whos been reading weekly since the end of thrillerbark i gotta say skypia has always been my favorite ark and im so glad that people are starting to give it the respect it deserves.

8:57 skypia is the peak between those two valleys at the time those two arcs had the saddest most heart-wrenching moments in all of the series Pell sacrificing himself which he didn't actually and Robin and new stop leaving the crew which they didn't actually
I love how towards the end Liam Included Foxy as one of the big guys along with Crocodile and Flamingo. Also i wish to see the greatest villain and future king of the pirates Buggy next.

I always loved Skypeia . The first ark where we really understood how big this world was and that Lucy defies convention . They literally sailed into the sky .
I loved the weirdness of thy sky island soldiers crawling on the ground . The natives that were removed from their homeland , the white supremacist god that dresses like an African warlord .
Proving Nolan the liar was right , blasting belamy into the floor , running into Blackbeard for the first time

When I watched skypiea years ago it stuck with me, it’s still one of my favorite arcs but I get why others aren’t super big on it

Skypeia & Sabaody-Timeskip are the 2 Sagas with the most lore. I remember being really confused watching Fishman Island on Toonami 2 Years Ago because the latter was skipped. Fortunately Netflix had Skypeia & kept adding more seasons & now has everything before the Timeskip save for 1 Episode. Anyone know where to access the Toriko crossover?

I think something fascinating was the video I saw a while back(might’ve even been on here) discussing how One Piece would’ve worked if it was actually 5 years long as Oda intended. And something that stuck out was the idea that Skypeia is around the 5 year mark, and is likely what the final saga was going to be like, the priests were like the Gorosei, loyal followers to a god like figure. And that godlike figure(Enel/Imu) being capable of destroying entire islands with attacks from the sky. Add the fact that Luffy was the perfect counter to Enel, mirroring how Joy Boy/Nika will be the counter to Imu, and I think Skypeia can be looked back on in the final arc even more fondly than it is now.
But also seeing Enel show up and actually fight Imu would be nuts
Having recently rewatched Skypeia after finishing Wano, the entire arc and Enel takes on so much more! It is an incredible arc dense with lore and foreshadowing.
I think Enel will return in the final war.

I liked how the end of the fight seemed to amount to "push Enel far enough over there ➡️ that he gets distracted and leaves us alone".. Like with Magellen, it gave me the sense that he could potentially come back later and still be a threat..
Skypeia was my first arc, its hard to believe I have been reading and theorizing for over 20 year... I was a smooth faced kid when I started reading this and now I'm and old fuzzy dude.
My favorite villain of the serie! Can't wait for him to return to earth, he had one of the most advanced type of observation haki there is. just imagine what he has become after years! and oh boy...moving at light speed light Kizaru with that insight and convinction will be a huge with other type of haki equipped!

I loved enel cause he just walked through everybody like they were nothing and the only way he loses because of Luffy just happen to be there and was immune. The way he restarts his own heart was one of the craziest scenes
Skypia has always been my favorite arc idk how people dont like it, it was a whimsical light refreshing adventure into the sky to help cool off after the long intense battle with crocodile before then going into another super heated arc, it maybe be a valley between to sagas but there is a sweet stream of melted snow runing through it
Hey Liam (idk if we are on a first name basis) I think that if you keep doing the best enemies first then when this series gets closer to the end it will be all of the lame F tier enemies and make for a boring while if you want to do all of the enemies. I think you should get a list and put it in a wheel or something idk. But yeah I am loving this series and excited for the next one! And even tho he is like S tier you should do kizaru!

As there were so many reels for this Arc, it's the top tier arc for me
A-tier is exactly where I would put Enel! There were some really excellent points in this video that I'd forgotten about his character growth!

what i think is that the people of skypia where aware of "joy boy"...as Oda draw it at least the wolfs were aware of him...meaning actually we have a time discrepancy now...people on skypia know about joy boy but skipia exists since about maybe 300-400 years so long after joy boys disappearance, no?
