I've just recently installed this on a 2005 e60 530D (UK) with 220,000 miles on it and can tell you it definitely makes a difference. Especially with the throttle. With both this sport button and D/S the result is fantastic! Mine is also remapped to 260BHP
Super job David.. Very informative. BTW the guy below that indicates the steptronic sport shift mode.. Doesn't adjust throttle response or variable valve timing. David's instructions are clear and work great! Thanks!
Just fitted one today. I used the cheaper version cable & modded it as i wanted to used my own switch. I used a savage amber LED switch. I was able to fit mine further to the left so that that it was in the center. Worked great thanks for the clear video instructions. Keep up the good work & many thanks.
Hi, Received the "hidden SPORT MODE" button for my 04/2005 BMW E60 530i yesterday and installed today. Fiddly, but expected that after upgrading mu Business Nav to Professional Navigation some 7 years ago. Fished the cable through without removing ashtray. Thanks for all of your videos, you make it easier and offer a quality product. For those that may ask, the SPORT mode button is different from moving auto gear lever to the left to put car into DS mode. The SPORT mode changes the cars characteristics by not changing into top gear so car is a lot more responsive, acceleration is quicker especially at start-up. Cheerz ;^)
I just want to thank you for not only making these videos, but the cable as well. I bought your AUX cable off ebay and intalled it based on your other video (after a long head ache getting all the coding software working). I'm buying one of these buttons from you on eBay right now. Can't wait to install it!
I installed SPORT button and works very well. Just be aware, running in SPORT mode will increase your fuel consumption by about 15-20% due to extra RPM as your car won't be shifting into top gears, probably 4-6th gears. I haven't tested on the open road, just in the suburbs so I don't know what gear it will shift into on the freeway.
roskinc Hi m8, I agree, SPORT mode is a lot more fun and I do use when I'm motoring around bendy and hilly roads, makes the E60 much more responsive and I love the additional braking from the motor and tranny.Overall, a well loved simple modification and must applaud you for your professional modification, with LED switch, wiring and labels. My son has a 2007 E90, is this mod only for E60 cars.
Hi ros that button works like a bomb,i thought it was just a light but after installing it everything changes.steering wheel becomes stable, engine has a super kick. I drive E60 523i - 2007 model I have also coded my cd drive to read/play mp3.(this is holasix from south Africa) THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
Hello Roskinc I just got the Sport Button and immediately install it. Thanks bro for that great button. It's really really great. You fell the car turns into monster after pressing (SPORT) Keep it up bro 👍
Mod Works 100% Changed my Dynamic Drive Characteristics and the Active Steering Has firmed up nicely. What an Easy Install and an Amazing Difference! Your're awesome Man. 2007 530xi w/Dynamic Drive and Active Steering
Awesome video and thanks for the ebay wiring and button! One more 525i with SPORT mode! One trick that I might mention is using allen wrenches/hex wrenches for star or torx-head screws. It saved me lots of time on the toughest part of the job, removing the ashtray(Doh!). Awesome work, roskinc. Thank you.
actually, you dont need to remove the astray anymore. you can simply just fish it from underneath, a trick i learned from doing it more times. in the video it was when i first learned to do it.
@@rexking5975 In my 2008 e60 535xi, when I slap the stick to the left, it initially goes into "sport mode", which is still an automatic mode. If I have the stick to the left, and then push either UP or DOWN with the stick, it will both put me into full manual mode, as well as shift gear properly based on which way you moved the stick in order to get into manual mode.
@@rexking5975 YES IT IS the same as shifting the knob left . the dash from the e60 is not unique to this vehicle , this dash has been used and distributed in other vehicles manufactured by bmw . Hence the reason there’s a sport mode on the dash cluster in the first place , though the car doesn’t have a sport mode option other then “DS” (left shift) . What this person did was simply install a way to illuminate the word “sport” on the dash cluster.
hi, quick question I bough this button last year, works perfectly no problem, but I'm not sure if because I installed the button or because there is something wrong with my car, but when I put my car in ds, and try to use the manual shifting, it doesn't work, as in I can't control when to shift from first to second and second to third.... it does it by its self, unless I'm going over 50mph, then I can control what gear I'm in. would I be because of the button, I'm to lazy to take everything apart and see if it works if I disconnect it. Thanks. great videos
Great video. I suppose pin 8 and 10 is for the sport mode on/off. Pin 9 and the ground wire is for the light in the switch for the sport mode? Correct me if i am wrong please Have you ever converted to paddle shift?
ive personally seen it work on my 525i, a buddys 530 and a 545i. their isnt really any specific model it works with, no is their anything anywhere that says it will work for any model. it is a button you can get from BMW (not like the one in my video) but if you read the comments on my previous video from people WHO HAVE TRIED IT, you will see everyone is pretty pleased with the results
ok just did this on a 55 plate 525d pre lci e60 it shows the sport mode for sure , as for performance its hard to judge if it actually makes a difference at first it did feel like it did but after turning off sports mode can't tell , i just cant tell difference , how can possibly test for sure ? ok dont do this it doesn't do anything i never made any holes in plastic until i was happy with it , its just an illusion you only realize after few days driving
+Noah Hamdan it handles amazing and has a lot of power already but the car would be even more amazing if it had that sport mode hidden somewhere in the car
Question Is this switch a momentary switch or a latching switch. I ask because my car is brushed aluminum inside and I will need to get a different color to match the interior. I might just need the cable only from you unless you can sell it with a brushed aluminum button.
Hello, please can you help me with the connections of the button like yours? Wich cable goes from number 8,9 and 10 from wich of the button? Big thanks!!!
First of all Is this button for more speed?and then want to ask you if I could do all these steps in my bmw (e60 5.25i 2996 cc 2007)and if the answer is yes where I could buy the Cable(greece) ?
Hello, I must say that I like your videos, it has helped me a lot:)an now I want to install the sport button in my e61 bimer after I have seen this video, so now I am wondering if you still make the cable and can I bye it of you including the button it self?
Thanks dude! I received the cable last night and installed it already. WOW!! i just love the performance of my 530xi now. Funny, i thought about selling it before, but not any more :). Okay, I bought the cable thinking "Sport" will lit up, but unfortunately it doesn't , only the ring lights up NOT the "Sport" letters. Please tell me the PROS & CONS? and can i drive it on Sport all the time?
far as ive seen, its worked on various models from 2004-2007, 2008 they relocated the module to the glovebox, but i dont have a lci car to show an install on that one so ill just stick to saying 04-07, ive seen these cable work on 525,530,545, 550 personally. i havnt had someone email that has tried the button themselves and tell me it didnt work, but still i always have to say the results vary from car to car,
Anyone know if BMW prewired e60s with sticks for an illuminated shift knob? I am trying to get out of soldering in new wires, but it doesn't look good.

in my e60 530d manual, its seems to rev quicker with less pedal pressure, doesnt make it any quicker just throttle mapping is altered so less pedal give more gas ,no change on a manual 0-60 time tho.., also alters (newer models) electronic assisted steering , best on a auto but works on manual, but no quicker ,best on a 550 auto!!
Hi, I would like to use the voice button (I have the button but it doesn't do anything) as the sport button. Does the voice button go to the same place as the sport mode button, and if so which sockets does it go to (I'm hoping I can simply unclip them and put them into 8 and 10). Thanks.
yes, in the connector you will see a tiny hole, you stick a paper clip in it and push down the locking tab of the connector and it slides out. i will post a video on the removal of pins off of connectors very soon.

You already appear to have manual and sport mode on the box? Is the switch just another way of activating sport, instead of moving the lever across for manual? I was told by BMW mechanic that the sport shows up on dash as DS when you move lever across, and then revs increase and gears hold longer.I tried it and he is right?? I`m confused dude

roskinc are u not selling the wiring and buttons anymore?
is that the same as pushing ur knob DS, an ur sport mode is on.
This was a great video mate! More people need to use GoPros for these kinds of videos. Very good instructions too!
is this not the same thing as just pushing the gearknob to the left ? in sport ?
Yes it is
Nou
(edit) yeah you guys were right. I was less right... The button really does nothing.

Do you need to put the car in neutral before lifting up the knob?
What's the point of this??? Don't all the E60s have the sport mode and manual shifting just by pushing the knob to the right like my E60????
What u mean,?!

where can i buy the small metal connecting pins you used to make the wire, the ones which click in.
Also, if I installed your old sport button, how do I remove the previous pins out? Do they pop out?
So, when are the updated cable available for purchase on Ebay?

You sir are a genius. I wish you were local so I can just pay you to do this lol..

I really enjoy watching your videos. Where can I get steering wheel idrive knob for 2006 530i?

Noob question...but is there sport mode on the bmw 530i e60 manual transmission?
are you making anymore of the same ones??
Do you respond to comments? If so, what are the names of the pins I need to buy for the ends of the wires?

Hi! Where did you buy the sport button?
Do u know how to install a sport button on a bmw 2007 330 4 doors???
is this only for auto transmission e60?
Any benefits in a manual gearbox car ?
Hey, so will this work on my BMW 535i 2008? If so what wire number do I wire?
Hi, I would like to use the voice button (I have the button but it doesn't do anything) as the sport button. Does the voice button go to the same place as the sport mode button, and if so which sockets does it go to (I'm hoping I can simply unclip them and put them into 8 and 10). Thanks.
Did you ever find an answer or get it to work?
I'm interested for my 2008 535i with push start. How can I get one. Got a mechanic that will install the piece
How can I get the bottom that you use on this video
Does this work on a manual car
Have u how to install on mini cooper R56?
yes, in the connector you will see a tiny hole, you stick a paper clip in it and push down the locking tab of the connector and it slides out. i will post a video on the removal of pins off of connectors very soon.
Hi David. Please, I have a E61 BMW. I want too a "sport button" but i have panel with only a DSC button. This Panel have only one cable. Its real for my car? Thx for help and greeting from Slovakia (sorry for english :D )
Hey wassup you still have the led button
hiya will this work on e60 535 m d on 2006 steptronic
Do you can do the same thing in a 330I e90 ??
Can you make a tutorial on how to remove your rear seats?
good contribution to user. well done keep it up and many applause too.:)
Is pin 9 for power
What bout a manual can u install one with a manual transmission?
You already appear to have manual and sport mode on the box? Is the switch just another way of activating sport, instead of moving the lever across for manual?
I was told by BMW mechanic that the sport shows up on dash as DS when you move lever across, and then revs increase and gears hold longer.I tried it and he is right?? I`m confused dude
Their similar, but you can notice the difference between using both.
+roskinc I'm the same as this guy would you recommend this If you already have ds mode
damn, I wish I wouldve waited for this button. Looks flush. nice video, btw where did you get your carbon fiber wrap from?
I heard ur in the LA area. How much would u charge to do this mod if I come to you?
