This is the best LED installation video on TH-cam It is a breath of fresh air to actually hear someone's voice explaining what they're doing instead of rap music with no explanation Thank you!
OMG! Best and easiest video I've ever saw. Mr. precision, YOU ROCK!!! Thank you for taking your time with this. I now can replace my interior lights with ease.
That's why only the licence plate line is using CANBUS but all other lights can use normal LED. In fact from the video the plate LED with CANBUS has some dimming effect...cool. Best video ever!
Excellent Video! Very professional and very detailed explanation on how to do the modifications. I did it by myself with the guidance of this video rather taking it to someone and asking them and paying them to do it for me. Thxs for the vid!
@ghostnj The PrecisionLED kit uses all CANBus LEDs for an error free, strobe free, flashing free installation! Since we have tested the kits with the cars, we know which LEDs need to be CANBus and which do not. Cheers, -PLED Team
I put the light console in first, then I could not put the sunroof console in. Is there an easy way to remove the light console. Not disengaging as before. Any suggestions?
Hi Dave, this video might not show everything but once you watch it the lights you mention should be easy to install. You can also wait for our BMW 6 series video coming out shortly. It has some explanations very similar to the 5 series.
right at 10 seconds i noticed you had a 550i or 550 rims i can tell since i have one too i love the e60 body looks great mine is stock with dark grey paint and dark tinted windows looks killer
Hey I have a 2010 5 series and got this kit. This method show here does not work for the map or some lights because the led lights are different from the ones in the video and do not fit through the hole. Is there any other way to do this?
Is your vehicle the E60/61 model? We have worked with many BMW 5 Series, and never found this installation process to not be compatible with the E60/61 models.
Hello! Thank you for the kind words. We do recommended installing a higher quality Canbus LED to ensure you do not experience any dash errors, flickering, or other issues with your bulbs. We only carry high quality Canbus products for this exact reason.
Please please could supply me with the part number that you installed on this video for the map and dome led lights. I was sold 12 bulbs that I cannot use. Thank you
@@PrecisionLED Which color would you say best reflects the color balance of the mirror light that shines on the ground? - Its a much cooler color tone than the natural interior which as a warmer feel to it. - I'm assuming the interior is 5400K while the 8k would be more in tune with the blueish light used on the exterior of the car ( on the mirrors ) - Thank you for the prompt response! - Ordering based on your response!
Warm white is making a yuge comeback - much better cri and easier on the eyes. It’s a shame the most led manufacturers have not gotten the message but we’re slowly seeing a shift back to more respectable kelvin temps and hopefully less “dude bro” blue 🤮 This is why I like Philips and Osram - they don’t sell ghetto blue garbage hid bulbs… 4300-5000 kelvin with proper lenses and aiming = win!!! I am hoping led headlights start offering adjustable kelvin temp based upon weather and road surface conditions - that would be amazing!
Thank you for your interest. We have not yet gotten our hands on a BMW 7 Series just yet. However, you can absolutely install on your vehicle. The installation process would be very similar to what is shown in this video. You are welcome to checkout some of our other installation videos for reference here: www.precisionled.com/how-to-videos.html
Thankyou very much. Very detailed tutorial. Just a few question, is it necessary detaching the cables when changing the bulbs? What LED Bulb specific shall we buy? I went to our local auto shop here and there are hundreds of led varieties. Can you please be so kind and tell us the LED Part Number and Brand? Kindly advice, thanks again.
Jason, You can purchase all the LEDs on our website at precisionled(dot)com, check the link in the description of the video. And yes, detaching the cables is necessary because it prevents eletrical shock and short circuits when changing the bulbs.
Thank you for your interest. I do believe the door lights would be stock LED, which you cannot replace, as it would be soldiered to a chip and board. However, if this is not the case, could you please email us over a photo of the light to help@precisionled.com? We can see if there is a possible way to upgrade the door light to LED.
Thank you for the interest. Yes, the installation process would be very similar to the X5 E70. The installation process for all vehicles is very similar.
Have a question, replaced my license plate lights with Philips lights as the brand. Works great, however when ever I start my car I get an alert on my LCD window stating malfunction on left lamp but it goes away after about a minute or so. I know it's because of the change from standard to LED lights and it only does this when I start the car. What do you suggest is the best solution to this? Have 2004 E60 530i. Much thanks Mr. Precision!
It sounds as though you would need to install Canbus LEDs in order to prevent the dash error. We only sell high quality Canbus LEDs to ensure you do not experience issues like this.
Great video, but does not cover the E61 rear reading lamps (different from the E60 rear console) E61 rear reading lamps are on each side, above the door jambs. They are a B to remove
If they are halogens you are definitely able to swap them out! If they are stock LEDs then you cannot replace them because they would be soldered to a chip and board.
The LEDs used in this video are PrecisionLED CANBus 8000K Cool White Bulbs. Check out the link in the description for more information. Cheers, -PLED Team

To test these lights.do you just leave the key on?.Or do you just simply leave the door open..I know..fairly dumb question..lol. Thanks!!
You would just turn the key to accessory mode in order to power the car. If the lights do not come on, you may have to open and close the door.

The 8000K LEDs are used in this installation video.
Great video. Do your interior LED's dim progressively like the original lights?
Yes, our LEDs do indeed dim. They will act exactly like your original halogen bulbs. They will just be much brighter and a nice LED look to them.
