Another great retrospective. My favorite part of these videos is how you show the easter eggs and comic references. I love seeing things from the comics and how they relate to the game world. This is a highly underrated channel. It's crazy to me that you have less than 100,000 subs. It reminds me of when I was lucky enough to find Captain Disillusion's channel when he only had about 80,000 subs and got to watch him grow into such a success. I see the same fate for this channel if you continue with quality work like this.

It’s kinda funny how in this game Spider-Man does his best to try and convince Martin Li and Otto Octavias that revenge isn’t worth it, yet Yuri Lowenthal’s most famous character, Sasuke Uchiha in the Naruto anime, was all about revenge.
One thing of note to mention regarding Black Cat, when within her hideout in the base game where you are given the Dark Suit, if you look on one of the walls, you see what look to be child-like drawings of a Cat playing with and then trapping a Spider. Obviously symbolic images that represent Peter and Felicia's relationship. Peter even comments on them. What a lot of people do not notice about all the drawings, however, is that they are all signed with the intials J. H.. Most likely a J. Hardy. With what Felicia says about saying that she lied about having a son being an ugly word and prefers the use of the word misdirection, it is theoretically possible that she does in fact, have a son. That she is just misdirecting him once again.
Darin De Paul who voiced Jameson, also voiced Venom in the Midnight Suns game. I have to say that, as great as Venom looked in Spider-Man 2 and as incredible albeit short-lived Tony Todd's performance as Venom was, in terms of characterisation I thought Venom was much more enjoyable in the Midnight Suns game.
One thing I will give to this game a hundred times over, the voice cast was so solid. If Yuri is being propped up as the definitive Spider-Man, I'd say it's well earned.
I completely disagree with that interview where they said that seeing iron man would overshadow the game, we've had previous marvel games where other heroes cameoed and it was a cool little moment. Biggest example is Punisher that had Iron Man, Black Widow, and Nick Fury.

Not sure if it's mentioned in the video, but I think there's another easter egg where if you are wall-crawling on a certain building, you can see a reflection of two towers, which end up resembling the original World Trade Center.
In the scene with Black Cat knocking down bottles and drinking I always took that as Felicia being genuine since when Peter says “and you’re a single mother” or something along those lines and she sighs and seems disappointed to have to lie again.

i know this is not insomniac's spiderman 2, but i noticed that black cat appears in a lot of sequels of spiderman games. sam raimi spiderman 2 tie in game, amazing spiderman 2 tie in game, spiderman edge of time (sequel to shattered dimensions), and insomniac's spiderman 2 (i know she appears in spiderman 1, but she also does appear in spiderman 2, as well)

That's my plan, but not immediately. The newer games are typically more intensive projects so I want to decompress a bit with some older games first. Spider-Man 3 is what I'm working on now, as well as a bonus video for the cancelled Daredevil game. After that, maybe Ultimate Spider-Man and Web of Shadows, although that's not solidified. But I want to complete this Insomniac series, so Miles and Spider-Man 2 are definitely in my future plans

I was a little bummed that you didn't mention the running joke in the DLC of Peter calling the Sable drill transportation vehicles "Digboys" and once he found out the actual name was Subterranean Troop Deployment Vehicle, he says "THAT'S the real name? Pfft. I'm sticking with digboy".

(Wait a minute...Leo knows Peter's fate? are we sure he's not related to Desinty from the X-Men? hmm, it could be coincidence. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) Just want to point it out. :)
I love the games, but have never been extraordinarily well-read on my SM comic history. Your two videos really added to my enjoyment of the game and even revealed easter eggs I’d missed after SO many playthroughs it’s surprising I missed anything. So thanks! Marvel's Spider-Man - black cat sucks: her theme doesn't fit the character at all, her armor outfit doesn't fit the character and it copies as far as mission design copies to much from Treyarch's raimi spider-man trilogy. it's one of many reasons why i call insomniac's spider-man a Treyarch spider-man clone. u fight with black cat side by side in Treyarch's spider-man 2 as well as the chase sequences there's not much original ideas in this insomniac's spider-man GameVerse. the spider-man cellphone literally came from beenox tasm games every feature came from activision era, no innovations whatsoever. even the web swinging that allow webs to stick on the environments while web swinging was created by treyarch. this entire video was just overpraising even though; the combat system is awful and how you lose 50% of ur health no matter the difficulty from one hit by an basic street thug the overweight enemies does 60% damage with one hit their two hit punches are an instant death. Remastered version ruined the immersion of this game.
Really looking forward to when you cover Ultimate Spider-man, but godspeed getting through Spider-man 3. I played the PlayStation 2 version so I'm interested in seeing the differences between editions,
I’m working on Spider-Man 3 now and it’s been an experience lol. I’m actually looking at both the PS2 and PS3 versions, because they do actually contrast in interesting ways. Hopefully I’ll have that video out around early February
I get you had to sum up the movie suits, but you only say McGuire, Garfield, and Holland and leave out the into the Spider-Verse suit that you can unlock when you beat the 3rd dlc (at least it did for the ps4, don't know if it changed fir the remastered).
Another fantastic video! I was waiting for you to cover this game for the longest time and the pair of videos you made was well worth the wait. This game has become my personal favorite of all time and I think you do its content justice while also highlighting a plethora of cool details that players (including myself) may have missed. I enjoyed the city that never sleeps but i think the reason why it varies in quality is that because they hsve to release it once a month it feels a bit undercooked i think if you released all dlcs into one and give it a bit of polish it couldve worked

Midnight Suns is one of my favorites too, but idk when I’ll do it for the channel yet. That game is slammed with references, dialogue, and overall content. It’d be a huge video and a big time commitment, so I need to consider that one more. It’s an incredible game though and deserves way more attention
When i avoided a crime once (dont ask why i just wasnt in the mood) appearently i got a jameson podcast about a caller saying they were in a crime and i did nothing which i know i did nothing but i didnt even know that was in the game.
Spider-man, of the superhuman reflexes and strength, not only keeps getting thrown by normal humans in cutscenes ( Black Cat and Silver Sable) but allows Black Cat to take a flash grenade off her belt, pull the pin, and place it on Spidey's chest, and run off. All the while he lays there and seems bewildered. At least with Black cat his spidersense likely doesn't consider her a threat. maybe cutscene Spider-man just ignored his spidersense at these times.
Honestly, Spider-Sense has been inconsistent for decades, and Peter is always so stressed and in his own world that it just works when it feels like it lol
@@superherochestsymbol1032 in this game( and DLC) though it seems particularly inconsistent. Or is it? It seems to work fine against male opponents but fail oh so often against female ones. Maybe Spidey is just sexist and doesn't consider women a legitimate threat.
@@baki484 thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. I’d still like to find a middle-ground so the releases feel more consistent, but I agree, the last thing I want to do is sacrifice on quality. Next year I might experiment with different release cadences. Like maybe release videos in hour long segments weekly/bi-weekly?
I do want to say some Jameson Podcast episodes are unlocked when failing Stolen Vehicle, Break In, Drug Deal, and Witness Escort, with Stolen Vehicle it's easy you find a car chase a swing away, with Break In you have to find a ground related one and see if there's 6 thugs because once you move in they all will run away, the Drug Deal also has to be on the ground but with a thug in the driver's seat and when there's 3 thugs remaining in the fight, they'll make a run for the car, finally Witness Escort is easy just wait for them to start moving and swing away, plus the podcasts are titled "Blame the Internet", "A Loop", "Breaking In" and "Witness Tampering"

My only problem with SM Remastered (or original) is that the only person we really see who gets sick from devils breath is Aunt May? None of the sable agents or prisoners are affected from devils breath? If the agents and prisoners had mask (all of them) I wouldn’t have mind BUT MJ doesn’t get infected?!?! Everyone is fine but Aunt May?????? 🤷🤷🤷 that’s what it looks like. Miles is at FEAST with May but he’s fine 🤷 Might be the tiniest gripe ever but the fact that May is the only one who gets symptoms who we see is so forced and the fact that she knows Peter is Spider-Man with no foreshadowing unlike Otto is just a big “erm okay cool… maybe if we had more scenes with aunt May I would give a dam” but I don’t really care 🤷 Christ I think Howard and his pigeons had more dialogue. I thought seeing the pile of clothes at Otto’s lab would have some dialogue like “had to start washing my stuff far away from aunt May after I turned all of her clothes red and blue etc etc etc” little hint to the Amazing Spider-Man Garfield movies etc etc etc but WE GET NOTHING 😂 I just find it so forced that May is gonna die 💀 - if I saw more people dying or being sick and then the scene of May dying I would actually care about the choice Peter had to make. Because we don’t see anyone affected with devils breath except May. From my POV if I was Peter I would just cure May because well everyone else is fine. Anyway it’s the only problem I have… EVEN OTTO WEARS A MASK! 😷🤣🤣🤣 Apart from that it’s a great game. I give it 8 Leo’s Pizza out of 10 🍕

I love the games, but have never been extraordinarily well-read on my SM comic history. Your two videos really added to my enjoyment of the game and even revealed easter eggs I’d missed after SO many playthroughs it’s surprising I missed anything.

I love the story dlcs just like i love the majority of this game.
Marvel's Spider-Man - black cat sucks: her theme doesn't fit the character at all, her armor outfit doesn't fit the character and it copies as far as mission design copies to much from Treyarch's raimi spider-man trilogy. it's one of many reasons why i call insomniac's spider-man a Treyarch spider-man clone. u fight with black cat side by side in Treyarch's spider-man 2 as well as the chase sequences there's not much original ideas in this insomniac's spider-man GameVerse. the spider-man cellphone literally came from beenox tasm games every feature came from activision era, no innovations whatsoever. even the web swinging that allow webs to stick on the environments while web swinging was created by treyarch.
this entire video was just overpraising even though; the combat system is awful and how you lose 50% of ur health no matter the difficulty from one hit by an basic street thug the overweight enemies does 60% damage with one hit their two hit punches are an instant death. Remastered version ruined the immersion of this game.

I’m working on Spider-Man 3 now and it’s been an experience lol. I’m actually looking at both the PS2 and PS3 versions, because they do actually contrast in interesting ways. Hopefully I’ll have that video out around early February
I get you had to sum up the movie suits, but you only say McGuire, Garfield, and Holland and leave out the into the Spider-Verse suit that you can unlock when you beat the 3rd dlc (at least it did for the ps4, don't know if it changed fir the remastered).

I enjoyed the city that never sleeps but i think the reason why it varies in quality is that because they hsve to release it once a month it feels a bit undercooked i think if you released all dlcs into one and give it a bit of polish it couldve worked

Midnight Suns is one of my favorites too, but idk when I’ll do it for the channel yet. That game is slammed with references, dialogue, and overall content. It’d be a huge video and a big time commitment, so I need to consider that one more. It’s an incredible game though and deserves way more attention

Spider-man, of the superhuman reflexes and strength, not only keeps getting thrown by normal humans in cutscenes ( Black Cat and Silver Sable) but allows Black Cat to take a flash grenade off her belt, pull the pin, and place it on Spidey's chest, and run off. All the while he lays there and seems bewildered.
At least with Black cat his spidersense likely doesn't consider her a threat. maybe cutscene Spider-man just ignored his spidersense at these times.
Honestly, Spider-Sense has been inconsistent for decades, and Peter is always so stressed and in his own world that it just works when it feels like it lol

Next year I might experiment with different release cadences. Like maybe release videos in hour long segments weekly/bi-weekly?

I do want to say some Jameson Podcast episodes are unlocked when failing Stolen Vehicle, Break In, Drug Deal, and Witness Escort, with Stolen Vehicle it's easy you find a car chase a swing away, with Break In you have to find a ground related one and see if there's 6 thugs because once you move in they all will run away, the Drug Deal also has to be on the ground but with a thug in the driver's seat and when there's 3 thugs remaining in the fight, they'll make a run for the car, finally Witness Escort is easy just wait for them to start moving and swing away, plus the podcasts are titled "Blame the Internet", "A Loop", "Breaking In" and "Witness Tampering"

Was there cut content in particular you were hoping to hear about?
@@alwaysnerdyretros would be nice to see the graphics of the first build meant for the game before Treyarch changed it up to what we got. Also the realistic face scans for the characters, cut dialogue referencing the larger Marvel Universe, as well as cut characters like Iron Man and Wolverine.

My only problem with SM Remastered (or original) is that the only person we really see who gets sick from devils breath is Aunt May? None of the sable agents or prisoners are affected from devils breath?

Might be the tiniest gripe ever but the fact that May is the only one who gets symptoms who we see is so forced and the fact that she knows Peter is Spider-Man with no foreshadowing unlike Otto is just a big “erm okay cool… maybe if we had more scenes with aunt May I would give a dam” but I don’t really care 🤷 Christ I think Howard and his pigeons had more dialogue.
I thought seeing the pile of clothes at Otto’s lab would have some dialogue like “had to start washing my stuff far away from aunt May after I turned all of her clothes red and blue etc etc etc” little hint to the Amazing Spider-Man Garfield movies etc etc etc but WE GET NOTHING 😂
I just find it so forced that May is gonna die 💀 - if I saw more people dying or being sick and then the scene of May dying I would actually care about the choice Peter had to make. Because we don’t see anyone affected with devils breath except May.
From my POV if I was Peter I would just cure May because well everyone else is fine.
Anyway it’s the only problem I have… EVEN OTTO WEARS A MASK! 😷🤣🤣🤣
