  • In this video I replace the valve cover gasket on my 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T, the car still had the factory gasket and it was leaking quite a bit of oil through it. I tried to find a video on how to replace it and I could not find one, so hopefully this will help anyone having the same issue, I have heard a lot of people say this engines are crap but I've put this one through hell and it still runs perfect, maybe I just got lucky.

    I’ve been putting off replacing mine for months and finally replaced mine today on my 2014 2.0T. Your video helped tremendously! 👍🏾

      I kept looking for a video when I did this, and I couldn't find one on the Genesis, so I decided to record it. I'm glad it's helping, I love the car. I wanna keep it running as long as possible.

      @@moneypit1543 Thank you. I am having a little trouble getting those 4 clips off the engine in order to move the coil harness to one side to get more slack. In the video you said to just push on the side tabs, is there any other trick? I just don't want to break them. Thank you.

    • @moneypit1543
      @moneypit1543  ปีที่แล้ว

      @David Burns try using a small flat head screw driver to push the tab and carefully pull the plug at the same time. If you can't get them out, try to wiggle the valve cover out without disconnecting the plugs.

    Thanks to your video, I'm about to do mine tomorrow for my 2013 R-Spec 2.0. Local shops want to charge $300+ for this. I have a good backyard mechanic mentality and I have the tools to do it as well. Gonna study this video and hopefully it'll go smoothly. Did you take your hood off? I couldn't tell, but it seems like you could access the 10 mm bolts easily in the back. Anyhow, thanks for this video. Wish me luck. First time ever doing something like this on my Genny. I had a 2012 Veloster and I completely tore out my steering column to replace the little steering coupling spider gasket at the base of the steering rod connector. Fun. :)

    I've never done this before either but now im gonna have to for my 2014 2.0t rspec. My question is, we don't have to drain the oil before opening it up? and the sparkplugs don't get in the way?
    Finishing up the video, I wasn't expecting the widebody.

    • @moneypit1543
      @moneypit1543  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol, I've had the widebody for a while, no need to do anything with the oil, doesn't have to be drained, and no need to touch the spark plugs, only the coil packs need to be removed, which are the 4 pieces I labeled with the yellow tape, you take them out, and then put them back in after. If you have any other questions hit me up.
