Here’s an idea: “Best original (but still competitive and fun) team” for each generation. You know, not the typicall team that we all use. A fun and original one to rediscover the games. Hope u can make some out of this!
@@sockmonkeyjg I'm well aware. You have no idea how easy it is for me to ignore the Moltres caught on Sevii Island just to keep Charizard in my FireRed team.
Thanks to having a 3DS and DS, I've been able to get trade evolution Pokemon for my team on Soulsilver. This includes Steelix, Scizor, Kingdra, Gengar and Alakazam.
You can use the Spearow from the Goldenrod gatekeeper instead. Having a different OT means it gains extra EXP. You can't get it before Bugsy, but that's what Cyndaquil's for.
That Smug Typhlosion art comes from a card I wanted do much as a kid. Also the Elemental Punches were one of the few coverage that became worse with the split.
Me: Hah! I have Mean Look you freakin' Raikou! Now I don't have to use my Master Ball! Raikou: Roar!!! Mystic: Check the Guide Guide: *uses masterball* Lol! Hahaha! Kidding aside, great content as always Mystic. :-)
Yes! You gave Alakazam the BEST move set for these games! The only POSSIBLE exception MIGHT be teaching Thief instead of Fire Punch, but frankly, I prefer the Punch trio.
since u can go egg moves, I would've used Skarmory (with the same moveset though) instead of Fearow (that one just seems too cheap to me). The lack of 10 p. attack and 30 speed makes up with its p. defense.
If you're playing GSC/HGSS and picked -Typhlosion- Feraligatr, your best flying boiz before League are Fearow, Crobat, and Ho-Oh [Gold/Heartgold] / Lugia [Silver / Soulsilver]. It really depends on what starter you picked. For me I picked Feraligatr, and I chose Crobat as my flyer. Crobat is still a good mon and I love him. Who doesn't love Crobat.
Mean look doesn't work on legendary beasts. Because Roar is not fleeing, it makes your Pokemon to withdraw from battle. There was this one YTber who explained this "bug", but can't remember the name.
I would personally switch Raikou & Fearow with Zapdos and Scizor. Scizor. Ability: Technician. Adamant Nature. Atk & Speed EVs. - Bullet Punch. - Bug Bite. - Night Slash. - Swords Dance. Zapdos. Ability: Pressure. Jolly or Timid Nature. Atk & Speed EVs. - Fly. - Drill Peck. - Thunder / Thunderbolt. - Steel Wing. Other than those 2 changes, I kept the rest of the team as is. I really like it.
This is Gen 2. Abilities and natures don’t exist nor does the entirety of your Scizor set with the exception of Swords Dance. Zapdos is locked away in Kanto.
Typhlosion is the best in gen 2 but I think that there is an argument that Feraligatr is atleast on par with Typhlosion in HGSS (Ice moves, Physical water moves, and other reasons that I don't want to spend too much time listing) but since this is purely GSC I agree that Typhlosion is better.
Quilava will be stuck with Ember, Headbutt, and Dig for quite some time, until it gets Flame Wheel. Once it evolves at level 36, you can upgrade to Fire Punch pretty easily (and teach Thunderpunch too!). Fire Blast is also an option if you don’t mind the Game Corner. Too bad this isn’t HGSS where Quilava can easily “go nuclear” by teaching it the Fire Blast TM for 5500P from the Dept. Store before the third badge (not to mention Flamethrower coming at a more reasonable level). Croconaw does get Ice Punch, which is quite beneficial, followed by Surf in Ecruteak. Feraligatr’s special attack is a little low, however, though it gets better moves earlier. Lapras is simply the better Water-type because it gets Ice STAB plus it learns Ice Beam at a reasonable level 36. Gyarados has even worse SpA than Feraligatr and a worse physical movepool. About the only good uses for the Red Gyarados are as an HM user and to breed the Shiny trait to other Pokémon (this is possible in Gen 2 only).
Best Johto: Your starter choice, Lugia, Raikou>Suicune and Entei just for Thunder Wave. Tyranitar and Dragonite with Dragon Dance but that’s late game.Scizor with Occa berry and Swords Dance+Bullet Punch is monstrous, if not Scizor then Heracross for dat fighting king. Nah the gift machop is definitely the move for a fighting type. It’s a whollllle lot easier to get lol have you ever tried to get a metal coat in gen 2? You have to thief it (or catch and take it) from a wild magnamite. Not to mention even catching the scyther is annoying lol
@@yorecf9641 you know you can catch them both in crystal and gold and silver just go to the old man in pewter city he will give you ho-oh's wing or lugia's depending on the version

hey i need a team suggestion, for gen 2. i want all the common HM in my team and tyranator and umbreon must be a part of my team 🥰 ideas? no legendarys, but with tradeables and tradeevos
If you're doing no restrictions then how about go all the way where you can trade starters thus having more than one starter one your team? Should you so choose, instead of forcing yourself to take only one starter.
If you don't want Raikou on the team, you can always try to work towards getting a shiny elekid from the daycare people if you're lucky. That way it'll have HP grass with 80 base power
@Nick Cruz yes because the way it's stats set up it'll always be the same. I think it's like that for any egg pokemon you get from the daycare when you first visit. Shinies get HP grass while their normal forms get HP fighting.
Raikou gets Crunch which is special in Gen II, wouldn't that be more consistent than hoping for a good HP coverage? Dark + electric cover for hitting neutral on a vast majority of Pokemon back then.
What happen to Ampharos and Espeon, I know Alakazam and Machamp are good Pokemon but I do not currently have the means to trade to evolve nor do I care if I get them. I remember how difficult and a pain it was to get Raikou and other two without a Master ball the first time I played on GB color.
I’d go with Ampharos/Electabuzz then but I think even the not fully evolved Kadabra is better than Espeon. It’s only slightly slower and weaker than Espeon but is much easier to use and has access to an insane amount of coverage in the elemental punches.
The gift spearow is a better option as it gets boosted experience although you dont get it until after the 2nd gym its still good because its good against some of the annoying common types and the 5th gym with its fighting types.
