I am utterly floored, this is absolutely the most incredible K'nex roller coaster I've ever seen. It's so smooth, such clean transitions, and such a long circuit off a single lift hill! Not to mention the efficient use of a small space. Well. Freaking. Done.
The realism of this build is incredible, the safety elements and braking systems etc were all awesome! It's been years since I last did anything with knex, might be time for me to 😁
@Real do you know what he uses for the actual coaster pieces? I know that the cars are 3d printed but thats about it. The knex coaster stuff I've seen is just sets and not a build your own type of thing so if you could help I would appreciate it.
I’m just letting it sink in that there are people out there with fully engineered & truly functioning miniature roller coasters in their back yards. From now on, whenever I begin editing my fantasy projects for the sake of practicality, I’m going to try and remember that fact.
My neighbor was a government engineer for the military and he built a 100 foot high and about 1500 foot long coaster that shot you out of your seat and into his pond at the end. It was so awesome growing up next to Donnie! He was always doing cool shit out back for us kids.
This is the most complex K'nex coaster i've seen yet. I've been looking into making custom coasters but i don't know where to start, and this showed me some things i can do. Thank you!
Best K'nex coaster ever. Most of them are really fast and you only see about 20 seconds. But this was slow, and was so smooth I felt like this was a real coaster.
I can feel the airtime through the screen. Beautiful layout and I love what you did with the colors. Overall one of the best knex coasters I’ve seen in a long time.
I don't often like videos on TH-cam (I know I should) but I made sure to hit the thumbs up for this one. Great work! I really appreciate the time that it took for this build. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, I thought that the added weight of the camera had impacted the speed of the train, but then I see that you slowed it by 50%. Now that it's slowed down I can truly appreciate how great this build actually is. It was way too fast at 100% to tell how good the force dynamics are. You've built a real roller coaster. Too bad none of us are small enough to ride it!
Although it’s not the highest at the park anymore it’s definitely one of the best rides there is there. It’s fast, goes pretty high, and it gives you a great view of Lake Erie while climbing. I go to cedar point yearly and I definitely always have to ride it.
This is incredible. Can't imagine the time, planning, investment that goes into building something like this. Props for being not only able but willing to do it. Respect ✊
Brilliant! I still remember the summer of 1989 when it opened. Tallest in the world at the time. I was so excited to ride it and as it climbed halfway up that first hill I became terrified because I had never been that high on a coaster before. What a thrill!
Magnum XL-200 was literally the first coaster I ever rode. It was my senior trip and I was so tired of never taking risks, so I just got on the biggest coaster in the world (at the time) to conquer my fears because I was so terrified of them. Of course I couldn’t get enough after that and it was senior trip day at the park so they had the whole thing shut down to the public. I got right back on it and must’ve rode Raptor at least three times. Incredible experience, and I’ve been an enthusiast since. Anyway, love your dedication to it here, with some added bonuses.
I love the brakes at the end, they are so smooth, and it doesn’t look like the Roller Coaster is made of Tungsten and will not break no matter how hard it impacts a strong barrier. What I mean is that some Knex Roller Coasters stop the car immediately through a barrier, which is just painful and neck-breaking to watch.
I didn't really have a design, other than a rough sketch. But you can see the progress of the train design and trail and error construction starting with this video on my Magnum XL-300 playlist: th-cam.com/video/uLyiXFlWlj8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=3dCoaster
I've always been a k'nex guy. Honestly I've never understood the fascination w Legos. Knex are way more functional conducive to large scale projects. Thanks, that was great.
A lot of this footage seems like it was sped up. The build is impressive, but I do get the feeling that he might have had to push it along parts of the track at times and that it wouldn't actually finish this circuit without his help. No knock on him, the laws of friction really don't favor light objects, but yeah, I'm pretty sure he was guiding it by hand for parts of this, there's no way this amount of distance is possible.
@@Xtrovid unless it is several cuts it would be hard to run after it and keep bumping it. More likely is the train weighs a crapton, like a few pounds atleast.
@@A_piece_of_broccoli "physics is scalable" Errr. No, not really, there are a hell of a lot of constants involved, and the equations aren't all linear, you can't just increase the mass of an object proportional to the scale of what you're trying to model and expect the behavior to be the same, especially not if you start needing to take friction into account.
@@Xtrovid The course was slowed down but the chain lift was sped up, and the trains are massive and weigh 4-5 pounds. Combine that with custom 3d printed cars with custom-made ball bearings and a sturdy support structure that has rods in the ground, and you hold a ton of your speed.
