Pros And Cons of a Double din Radio on a New Beetle. Cons It costs a lot to get. You have to modify the dash. You loose cup holders or storage tray. Also the Hazzard lights look bad since I kept my lower hazards and didn't install the newer style on the dash.
Pros!
I love how it looks! The maps and directions are the most used feature! I use audible for books on long trips and I love it. Responding to texts are another great feature. The hands free calling is nice too. It comes with a back up camera but I have not installed it yet.
I would would do this again in a heart beat.

Could you reroute the flashers or was it better to leave them under the stereo?

@@staciemcclain5733 I wish I had moved the flashers. I didn’t want to spend the money at the time for the switch. But the plug they supplied bothers me.

Could you please let me know how you attached the two center vents onto the new dash trim?

The vents had screws and I think also a cover piece that went around them. The hazard pieces I super glued. I hope that helps.

@@JohnHasABug thanks, my kit doesn't have the rings to help secure the vents, I have no clue what to do.

@@kencheungsk does it have a place to screw to? Might be able to use washers to help attach it. The top of mine I used a pop can I cut to help divert air better. I used real ducting tape for that. Worked great. Maybe you could make something similar. Good luck!

how did you reattach the air conditioning controls into the new unit? i cut my black frame out that was around it like how you did but now it’s acting like it doesn’t want to sit in its place correctly 😕

@@JohnHasABug awesome thank you! that’s what i was thinking to do as well too but couldn’t/ can’t find screws long and skinny enough to fit to hold it together. Any suggestions by any chance?

@@_dessing_4970 I forget what I did back there. It’s very tight you might be able to just place it in since it’s molded and it might stay. I get most of my hardware are Ace hardware. Not sure if you have one of those. If I remember right stock the screws come from the front and with the kit they have to come from the back of the controls. I hope that helps. Kinda hard to explain.

yeah that’s what I thought too but it’s not acting like it’s not going to stay put so I’m probably gonna have to screw it because mine isn’t molded in there either. 🙄 I’m so close to having it done and your videos have helped so much! Wish me luck.
